You got paid a dollar?  We never got paid a dollar.
Yep, an actual US dollar sent with the listening diary! Not sure if they do still do this (I would guess they would have some internet deal and no mailings but who knows.) They would call you first, as I recall, and then you agreed to do it. THEN you get the dollar. (I guess to shame you into completing what you agreed to do over the phone.) To do it, really, is a pain. I will admit I faked it, though more to actual times (who is going to carrying it around and do it accurately.) Stations though I was honest- and so included pirate FM stations, SW listening. Ha!

I agree with Art, especially initially, quality is better than quantity. And there is still, sadly, a place for the modern version of C2C. The good content with bring in more numbers. And the streaming/podcast are the future. I can't wait!

How about a catch phrase for Art's comeback?  Any suggestions?

Take back the night?

Noron will steal it. Then post here saying "I've been shaying tuhat-fur yearsh!"

Taking care of that now.  "Take Back The Night" tm.  This is how "The Man from Pittsburgh" tm. does it and it works.

Now, Norry can't have it.

And about the tweet.  Maybe he is going to say that a Methane is about to erupt on Ventura Blvd. It will be big really big encompassing several blocks and even disrupting the studio of Timmy Church.

It's not tricky at all, unlike Broadcast media we can give advertisers exact server numbers, number of clicks, time spent listening, every little exact fact they might like. Arbitron is at best a sample, we will have exact numbers.
Art

Yeah sending out booklets and paying people to fill out what they listen to and how long, then keeping it a secret that no one can look at... what could go wrong?

Server numbers don't lie, or rely on a small percentage of people, their memories, or motives.

Do they tweet every time Noory makes a bowl movement?

NO! They broadcast that 5 nights a week, and call it C2C AM with Davie Snoron.

Totally agree. I plan on listening to the show as I go to bed every night. With today's on-demand society, the live listeners will probably decrease substantially.

Cannot wait until July.

We've found a shortcut to Mars and Dave plans to retire from Coast and follow his dream of becoming a full-time Elvis impersonator?

Seriously, I think I have said this before but it bears repeating, I don't care if it's a smaller show as long as it's a better show and fun. I think in the current World with the way Technology is going we
have a decent chance at producing something that is worthy, either way I intend to have fun trying.

I hope in a way that we start small and grow if we deserve it.

Art

Hell, yeah.  Enjoy the ride, Art, as much as we will.

*But*

(and I'm just playing devils advocate here, because as a former radio professional, I so DESPERATELY want this to work for a number of reasons)

Would you be able to show an age demo? Because - and all the talk at NYRMB has been - Advertisers seem to only covet that 18-49 age bracket.  You could have all the listeners in the world and all the TSL in the world, but if they are over a certain age advertisers won't give a hoot.

And this theory is what has led to the destruction of the oldies format... whereas one of the greatest oldies stations of all time CBS-FM has now dumped all 60s music from its rotation because the PD is afraid of an aging demo.

Everytime i see that picture, I always think of the Torgo Pizza bit from MST3K. I wonder if Dave could start a Pizza place, but after the Pizza Roll incident, I doubt he will ever go near a pizza again...
That has to be in the top 5 of MST3K skits.  The icing on the cake for the "Manos, Hand of Fate" episode.  ;D

I can just see Jorgo, of "Jorgo's Pizza Roll Delivery," pulling some "hot and ready" pizza rolls out his pants for delivery.

Stole this from facebook - saw it and actually had to LOL a few times. The artist is "Jin Wicked" according to the name in the lower right and did a fantastic job. You just gotta click on it and view it full size to see all the nuances. Very nice job ...  ;D

Did anyone else see the old Vietnam vet with gloves on stand in front of the protestors and make them leave live on cnn??

That guy was Badass.

OTA classic television broadcasting, such as MeTV, must be doing ok with an older demographic.  I think they were smart enough to key in on a still large demographic that's spending it's money on things unique to them.  I just have to endure never ending burial plot, reverse mortgage, pharmaceutical, and medical law suit commercials.  ;)
