As I sit listening to old Art Bell shows, I hear Art discussing the Dog Gone It gopher removal system. Dazed gophers, gopher heart attacks. Classic. Sucked through a tube at 300mph. Oh and gopher pile ups.
Now where else, I ask you can you get that quality of content and it is still entertaining twenty some years later?

Thank you Art.

Ok I have a idea, how about a poll at the top:

Best name for the show

Dark Matter

Midnight in the Desert

The Art Bell show

Cool Art, a poll...I like Midnight in the desert BUT I still like Dark Matter better.  Love that you're interacting and bouncing ideas off fans BUT don't listen to us too much!

Go with your gut and not group think or democracy...I feel the show ultimately is in the safest hands with Art at the Wheel--sure you may get some good feedback at times but I trust your inner compass more than what may be popular in this corner or that corner.

That said off the top of my mind--I do like Ride My Seesaw as an intro.  Also think Question(aka  Looking for a Miracle) also by the Moody Blues would be an outstanding intro song.  Outstanding.

One of the nice things about people suggesting intro music is that even if some of this stuff doesn't get picked, it's still great potential bumper music.

Obviously it's all up to Art's tastes, but it seems there's a fairly eclectic lot here.

i've been informed it's up to fort rock, but that could have been faulty information.

Thought of few more ideas:

Show title--Eternal Midnight

Intro Music--if go for instrumental, something by Tangerine Dream.  OR some of the electronic soundtrack music by John Carpenter of the 70's or 80's...Halloween, Assault on Precinct 13, Escape from New York, The Fog, The Thing.  The music is cool, sparse, downbeat and very moody.

Yes, one of my favourite shows too.

Used as a bumper, it could be a good intro song.

What show is this?  I don't think I've ever heard it before.

Art's version had more volume compression.

In other words Dave's version suffers from flatulence.

Pretty cool how nice everyone has been around these 'here' parts, lately.
I haven't seen anything  but the one picture that MV deleted, that has been a cause of concern.

...from "viscous and vaguely lovable" to "amenable and determined fans" to do everything we can, to help get Art back broadcasting.

Pretty cool...  yep that's a pretty cool thing, we're witnessing and making happen.

I shall call the Gabcast in your honor.

My copy only says Open Lines 1996, Art references at one point, "weeks after TWA 800 blew up", I think that would place this show late July or August 1996.

Correction, He mentions Hurricane Fran as last week and Hortense as ongoing, so this would place the show around 9/15/96.

Ah!  I see above it was 9/9/96, well my detective work got me to within a week--not too bad :P

I'm honestly surprised that nobody has suggested "Faap de Oaid" by Tool.  :P

(For those of you who don't know, it's a bunch of creepy noise and the Area 51 Caller.)

i haven't listened to my art bell collection since the big ball-kick of 11/2013.  it just made me feel depressed because i was so sad to see the sirius show end, and it felt like bad people had won.

with all of these new and exciting developments, i think i'm going to have to pull it out.  the collection.

Beyond Coast, God, that is sooo tempting but I won't do it. Midnight in the Desert is most likely the winner. As for Crystal Gayle's song I will use it as a close forever but for a open I need energy and See Saw really does it for me. If I am not going to use the chase then I sure don't want to just use something that sounds like it. I don't copy.

I really liked that song, seems like I may be in the minority here, but that buildup is just so fitting. Seems like you're blasting off at the beginning of every show.
