Just got an email from Paypal today saying that Walmart is issuing me a $.01 refund. My internal alarms start going off, thinking it is a phishing email and I just screwed myself by opening it... Called Paypal right away, they knew nothing, called Walmart and they knew nothing, so I called my bank to freeze my account in case the worst should happen, 3hrs of my life plus a ton of stress... Then I get an email from Walmart that says I was overcharged a penny for sales tax and the refund is legit.... Finally the Walmart customer service (pr)ho's in Pakistan, or India, or the Philippines came through. Scared the skidmarks right into my drawers....

Getting into r/c and joining a flying club taught me lots. I wasn't aware for instance that all aeroplanes come under the jurisdiction of the CAA irrelevant of size. We're (in the UK) governed by the ANO (air navigation order-flying equivelant of traffic laws) and can be prosecuted for breaches. Ignorence is no excuse, and up until recently such breaches were rare because flyers know that flying sites are very hard to find and very easy to lose because some dipshit can screw it up for everyone else..enter drones and FPV and we have cowboys flying to excess altitudes and idiotic distances..everyone will pay for this airprox.
I don't think the CAA will knee jerk because they're assholes; I think press pressure will force their hand though.

Just heard a report from someone going to the NH senate hearings about drones.  The FAA has stated that while they would like the revenue they do not want to take on controlling tens of millions of units.  Therefore they are passing the buck to local governments.  The FAA charged around $5-$10 for a number for all of your planes.  The local governments, hearing of the number of roc aircraft are leaning towards a per aircraft chargeupwards of $20.   There is even talk of annual airworthiness checks.  I assume this will have to be done by a certified aircraft mechanic.  Seems this could be the death knell for this activity if common sense doesn't break out soon.  I have eight aircraft and an expensive radio.  I am contemplating selling them while they still have some value if this craziness isn't stopped.
