I listened to Sky Moves Sideways. Nice. I'll listen to more later. Great leads.

I especially like that kind of sound with lots of acoustic piano (ELP-esque type stuff). Keith Emerson has a distinct playing style that I haven't heard much of since ELP. I'm always looking for it tho. I do like full orchestral stuff like Pocupine, piano or not.

I've leaned that certain subjects on the main Art board are very controversial. Oddly, one is the Moody Blues.

Glad you enjoyed PT. With as many albums as they have, their music covers a pretty wide spectrum, but I enjoy most/all of it. Steven Wilson, the musical genius behind the band, is a musical workhorse: In addition to PT, he has a number of other band projects (Blackfield, No Man, and others), plus does lots of album production work with bands such as Opeth, Fish (ex-Marillion), and others.  I wish I had one-tenth of his talent!

As I mentioned, I'm on a prog chick-singer binge lately. My dream band would be Annie Haslam with Keith Emerson, Larry Carlton (fusion guitarist), Carl Palmer and a full orchestra conducted by Seiji Osawa.

I'm glad to hear that you liked the clips.  I grew up listening to Yes, Genesis, Crimson, and the rest, and I was also fortunate enough to have a friend who turned me on to the prog/fusion bands such as Crack the Sky, Go, Mahavishnu Orchestra, etc., so I've been listening to prog for a long time.

I'm familiar with Larry Carlton from the days I was listening to Dave Grusin, Lee Ritenour, and the rest of that bunch.

Sadly, I'm not familiar with too many prog rock female vocalists, though I do remember Renaissance. Annie's vocals worked very well in that band.

You may already know this, but there is an internet prog rock station called Aural Moon that does nothing but prog. Good mix of stuff, imo, and not the stuff that we hear on the more mainstream stations.

Hmmm...that's a very hard one...

I've honestly sat here for the last hour thinking about this. My problem is that I like music from the early blues to Miles/Coltrane/Parker through McLaughlin/DiMeola/Cobham, Zep/Deep Purple/Genesis/Crimson and now, bands like Riverside, Porcupine Tree, and Djam Karet.

My biggest problem is narrowing the list down to less than about 30 musicians  I actually had a list of different band combinations, but got really carried away and deleted it.

Gotta continue to think about this. If my head doesn't explode going back and forth through choices, I will (hopefully) come up with a list

Sorry about that--don't fry your brain. Mine was easy, I think because I'm probably a musical snob. I don't find much music really these days that I get particularly excited about. A lot of the time I find an artist I like, but I don't particularly like the style or the band they're with. Haven't found a group to really be a fan of for a while.

Saw Renaissance at the San Diego Concourse with Al di Miola during my college years. Both were great but I fell in love with symphony/prog rock at that point. And Annie Haslam, lol.

I will definitely check out Aural Moon. Didn't know about it. Thanks for the lead.
