Let me get this straight... Do we not hate people anymore who want to kill us? Did I miss a meeting?

It's fine. We renamed the country to Russia II and call each other comrade now, but other than that things are about the same. Oh, and Mexico built a wall to keep us out.
:) Excellent, comrade.

Oh, you mean skivies.  Why didn't you just say so.  That's the USN word for them and I believe the Marines use it too but I'm sure I'll be corrected herein forthwith if I'm wrong.

Have my seconds shown up yet and what time is vespers?

Yep.  Skivvies.

Leftsts, leftists, media, leftists, media...

You know don't you, the ban doesn't just apply to refugees? It also applies to flight crew. It applies to the spouses of Americans, it applies to employees based in the US, or just passing through the US. It applies in ways that will severly disrupt millions of people, American firms too.

Apple, Microsoft, Tesla, Amazon, are just a few companies whose staff are possibly stranded abroad.

So what?

1.  It sends the message out that we don't want Muslims to come here, and less will want to come.  Good.

2.  It's temporary, people who are here legitimately, and want to return, will be able to.  Besides, the tech sector is working the H1-B visa system, paying these people a relative pittance and stealing American jobs.

The message that the Obama regime is over needs to be sent out, loud and clear.  If that inconveniences people, so be it.

Of course, the fact that innocent people are inconvenienced isn't really the issue, is it?:

When Occupy / Thug Lives Matter block freeways, bridges, mass transportation systems, inconveniencing others is the point.  And they say so, with pride.

So you see, it's ok - a point is being made.

Food for thought. Top is Bannon.
Bottom one is Trump's vision.

Oh man. They both use words and punctuation and stuff.

I'm guessing Bannon has been told that (among the complete chaos this ban has caused) the executive order he wrote up bans Iraqis? Its just that Trump has also said that he'll eradicate ISIS (A philosophy) and they use Iraq as a base too. And US troops and intel need Iraqi insiders and translaters to help them. With the promise they'll be protected.

If you were an Iraqi, why would you help? What incentive would you have for helping US troops now, even if you had for the last year or so?

You're right.  The U.S. should just walk the fuck away.  NOW.  Let Iraqis handle their shit.  AND, if we have to go back in, we go in like we went into Nazi Germany and finish their shit. Absolutely FINISH their shit..

And certain death if you were discovered being an informer for the US.  This ban is splitting American families up.

For the first time in history a US President might have a state visit to the UK revoked. Now you might not care, but Trump will, badly.

Right.  Ummm, why?

You are right, SciFi.   It's just me saying  this in response to your post.  And I am just some guy.  Nobody important to any of you, really.  But I would put this out for (non?)consideration, when I pulled my first trigger on another human being, my whole world view changed.  And much of what the rest of 'you' considered important.  Wasn't.  To me.  Anymore.

I am less suspicious of uniforms than I am of suits.  'Uniforms' give of themselves.  'Suits' tend to give to themselves.  There are no uniforms amongst the sheep.

Time for another ptchur of Martinis.

I'm enjoying a martini myself ...

I agree entirely. Almost every ex-military person I've known were far and away more respectable than any business people I've known. Look at James Mattis, few people are more respectable than that guy and he's a keen intellect to boot. I'd MUCH rather have him in charge of the DOD than some suit with a degree. I suspect he would be more reluctant to go to war than a suit having actually been in combat, but would utterly stomp the shit out of an enemy if there was no other choice.

No, they didn't. Nor did the CIA. The evidence was found to be fabricated by a wannabee asylum seeker trying to get into Germany. The German, French, UK intel services said there was no truth in his wild stories. The CIA looked at it too, and came to the same conclusion. But Bush's team wanted war, and mere none evidence wssn't going to change that. Bliar capitulated and lied to Parliament.

Indeed. But it could have been avoided. As I said, too late now. The shit has already been laid.

Of course you know when it comes to who knew what when there is controversy and finger pointing to this day.  There are also people who swear that the materials being sought were transferred to the Bekaa valley in Syria prior to war.  Israel believes  that to be the case.  Everyone has an opinion on it but if you read Mother Jones, Rolling Stone, the Huffington Post the NYT and The Washington Post or their Brit equivalents your confirmation bias as been richly fed and there is nothing more to say on the matter.  So, I will say nothing more.

You haven't told me how you plan to defeat Islam. You can defeat groups of Islamists (and that's an important distinction when talking about Islam) but you can't defeat an idea.

Again with this.  It's not Islam that we are at war with.  It's extremists of Islam.  Actually, it's criminal organizations dressing themselves up with a touch of Islam.  That makes them legit.

You can dress an asshole up anyway you want to, Islamist, Communist, Yorkshireman, Terrorist.  Theyare all just fucking targets that have victimized a population amongst which they hide.

You just don't get it Sredni.  These assholes are coming for you.  Hell, they are at your doorstep.  They are coming for you, your wife, your kids and your very precious ideas.

Perhaps because they're more qualified? Trump did say that kids are leaving school "deprived of all knowledge": There's your answer.

They are less qualified, but much cheaper.

Yes, plenty of K-12 schools are shitty.  And yes, the universities are much better, which is why kids from all over the world come here to attend them (it's too bad the professors outside engineering, business, medicine, etc, are such putrid Leftists).

Too many graduates can't get jobs, but these cheap foreigners can.  Living here in Silicon Valley, I see it first hand.

You think an engineer from Iran with possibly a Masters degree is going to be paid less than an American? You're deluded.

You have no idea how the HB-1 visa system works, do you?

But the current fuck up Trump has put in place will put US troops in ME theatres in danger. Not this week, but when the time comes for them trying to get the locals to spy for them. The locals will simply refuse and maybe even turn in undercover US operators. Trump not think of that? Course not; He's far more concerned with making sure his twatter feed is up to date and bleating about the crowd at his swearing in non event.

He probably just looked at when Obama froze the processing of Iraqi refugees in 2011 for six months and concluded that none of what you suggest happens.

Speaking of which, how are you coming along with that list of "phony" judges?

You must have missed my earlier post.

Quote from: PB the Deplorable on January 29, 2017, 11:08:54 AM
Oh, I didn't explain myself very well.  My bad.

Yes it is possible to have honest disagreements regarding interpretation.  That isn't what's been happening for the past 60 years.  These Left wing hack ''judges'' don't do what they swore to do, which is to uphold the law.  Their rulings are based on their ''Liberal'' and ''Progressive'' ideology.  It's not an honest disagreement between people disagreeing over interpretation - these people aren't judges at all, they are advocates.  Advocates who get to make the decision.

In other words, they are phony judges, despite holding the office.

Do you really think this judge who made the ruling overturning Trump's Executive Order carefully went through the evidence presented, applied the various laws and precedents, and came up with that ruling?  Or do you think the ACLU went ''judge shopping'', and had a pretty good idea ahead of time how it would go?

So now you'll at least know what I mean when I refer them as phony judges, whether you agree with the terminology or not.

My limited experience is thus so, that a person who served and saw combat doesn't want it, at least once they are older. Also some of the best businessmen I've known had military duty. Some of the best companies are organized likewise. I don't like the denigration of the military or of businessmen. (I did have a friend's brother who was "hoping this stuff in Kosovo goes down harder because better pay" and I was shaking my head.) But they also know better that when it is "on" to do it right, No confusing BS about ROE or conflicting partners and aspects. And scenarios. Although once it starts nobody can predict direction and why experience, chain of command, and unique thinking is important. But no sane person wants wars, arguably (some theorists and philosophers do like war, even consider it a moral duty.) I am not amongst them, though some martial training and discipline in schools or etc could be a good thing.
ps: had an uncle whose major damage in WWII was being bombed by US during a POW transfer by ship by the Japs and we, mistakenly targeted it, He never was outraged or burned a flag.  Went back home and loved the country, started his family, worked his small business but had to be on oxygen due to lung-issues due to the fire and infection in later prison camp. Didn't blame our country that bombed him and even, mainly, got over Jap cars and bikes. Shit happens, would that it didn't, but it does. We have people who have seen nothing but privilege, and often public funds, blocking streets, burning buildings and cars, assaulting people in 'protest?'

I've lived in Oakland, lived within short walking distance of UC Berkeley, worked at software, hardware, and bio-tech companies.  I've paid attention to the local politicians, the local protest groups, local events, seen how it's all been reported, etc, etc.

I know these people.  I'd like to think I have pretty good insight into the Left.

Rewatched cause on, the hilarious "Dr.Strangelove..." today and happened on the scene in which Gen Ripper was "explaining" about water and precious bodily fluids and then when he tried to motivate Group Capt Mandrake (Sellers playing a sniveling Brit exchange officer who understand the demented Ripper has gone around the bend) to help him load-- "the redcoats are coming." So hilarious, in all aspects. One of my favorite movies.

I don't think there would be much work left for ground troops in that particular part of the world.  But cheer up, we'll find you all a beach to assault somewhere.  It's not like there won't still be bad guys around.
