Food for thought. Top is Bannon.
Bottom one is Trump's vision.

Well, your kids are deprived of all knowledge so the net has to be cast wider.
I saw much, much worse in the UK with regard to knowledge, even of their market-worth and ability or desire to ask/negotiate better salary etc from bosses. But with the internet, headhunters (people not Chelsea football supporters,) etc if one wishes they can inform themselves much easier on going market-rate for their skills/education.

We shouldn't have troops over there. Like the Saudis and Israel fight their own wars.

I agree, and if the cost of defending ME oil was added to the price of a gallon of gas at the pump so people could see it instead of it being hidden in our tax bills, I'm guessing there wouldn't be much public support for keeping troops in the region.

The unwavering support for Israel by many fundamentalist Christians has amused me for a long time, because it's based on the prophecy that the Second Coming won't happen until a third temple is built on Temple Mount. In other words, their main reason for protecting Israel is to ensure its existence so it can be destroyed during the events of the Christian end of days. It cracks me up that a lot of fundamentalists have no use for Jews, but insist that the U.S. must do whatever is necessary to defend Israelis without recognizing the irony of that position.

Why? So, you can immediately dismiss me by ridiculing my choices? I have my preferences but I understand that they're not sources of objective facts. Though, certainly, facts may be presented.

Ridicule. That's 'their' first weapon.  To put you outside their circle of mistrust.

Bravo, Mr. Bannon at tuning into this sentiment because it's what most of us wanted too. Death Star exploded!  ;D

Well no shit, dipshit.  It wasn't Americans, Canandians or Vietnamese who flew planes into the Twin Towers.
Or Flight 990 and likely MH370 etc.

Speaking of which, how are you coming along with that list of "phony" judges?

Yep, I am amused by this also. In the scheme of things also historically it went pretty quickly from Jews being bad to Jews, and especially Israel, being the most important people in some of the Christian churches. But could this be, partly also, because the Papacy was the biggest Jew-haters and so the Protestants said, "hey, if the Pope says they are that bad maybe we should re-look into this deal? And then came up with their pro-Israel millennialism stuff?)

And certain death if you were discovered being an informer for the US.  This ban is splitting American families up.

For the first time in history a US President might have a state visit to the UK revoked. Now you might not care, but Trump will, badly.

Why?

When draining the swamp and setting things back on track, I'm pretty sure he knew it wouldn't be without obstacles.  Europe is in the process of throwing their freedoms and countries away.  People are angry we aren't, at least under this president.  He gets that.

All over the news where?  Not here.  OBTW,  the experience of one good naval officer is better than that of at least 3 of the yahoos on the JCS.  The exception of course is the Chief of Naval Operations--but the other 3 (Army, Air Force and Marine) we can do without.
You know, we Marines are always worried that one of you squids would become self aware.   We knew that one day, looking into the mirror, one of you would say, 'How come that same asshole keeps showing up when I drink fm the sink faucet?  Heeeey, wait a minute.'

Talk about important distinction.

I think these liberals have very little ability at reading comprehension or understanding and they fly into outer space liberal yahoo land.

Trump: "I would like to continue to follow the current rules of our immigration laws and in doing so continue to remove the over 11 million illegal immigrants currently in the US and build a wall on our southern border."

Liberals: "OMG, literally Hitler!  He wants to enslave and murder hispanic people!"

Never mind the fact that under Obama deportations skyrocketed to nearly 3 million illegal immigrants being deported.  Under Obama the budget and security on our southern border increased.

Obama is Great for deporting nearly 3 million illegal immigrants and strengthening the southern border, but Trump is literally Hitler!!!!

Obama changed the way deportations were counted.  Before, those turned away at the border were not counted.  Now they are.

He deported very few, but wanted the statistics to show he was - so the issue would be muted, with the idea it wouldn't be as much of an issue in future Democrat campaigns.

EgyptAir 990? Allhu Snackbar into the ocean. I think we should ban, or at least clear, baggage handlers, cleaners, stewardesses, etc. It is too bad, because flying used to be fun but in a diverse society we, unfortunately, need to have extra security measures. And even without the outsiders and fifth columnists we have enough local crazies and criminals. But we need to be realistic and do proper cost/benefit analysis and risk-assessment. One has to accept a certain level of risk to live in a, mainly, somewhat, free society. I would rather secure our borders and solve the problems within than create MORE problems by meddling in others' affairs and importing suspect people into our countries.

Nope. People are angry that Trump is a man child who can't think past his next tweet about how gorgeous he thinks he is, and how everyone else should see him. They're angry this same petulant toddler (aged 70) is using people as some kind of game to satisfy the mob, who incidentally, are the minority. As for him 'getting' anything, is a matter only a child psychologist might answer. He watches lots of TV and likes orange.

You do understand that SWO stands for Surface Warfare Officer don't you.  I will concede that surface skimmers are not nearly on a par with submariners but they are formidable none the less.

"THERE ARE TWO KINDS OF SHIPS IN THE NAVY, SUBMARINES AND TARGETS"

And you  did hear about the whale that bit the end off the submarine?  It sucked out all the seamen.

Better idea. Only have US airlines fly within US border. And only fly within US border, not internationally. No overseas airline flies to US. Then everyone is safe.

I have no problem with military people being in the military; with few exceptions does it carry well to political office.

But you're fine with the ex boss of Brietbart being in a superior position to military personel who advise the POTUS?

How ruinous do you think it might be to make the cabin boy the XO because the Captain was getting bj's from him? Roughly?

Sort of like a military alliance between Britain and the U.S.  We seem to cover your ass or bail your ass out of just about everything.

Oooooo, feel the Bern.  (Ooops, wrong alt reality.)

Well, it is an option, not a good option but maybe could work, if we had secure borders and could send back so many of these illegals (or deal with them in some way.) Prices would rise substantially, at least initially, but an experiment in autarky would be interesting. We have a lot of resources and, in theory (and practice) a general deterrent towards any outright military attacks (nukes, bio-chemical, doomsday options, etc.) Ideally, contrary to some, if this experiment would happen I would like an agreement with Canada- generally a passive country but with low population and also lots of unrealized resources, though a suspect immigration scheme so likely not to happen.) But the cost savings from all of our bases, wars, border defenses in other countries, etc versus the higher costs here? Maybe offset somewhat? We, of course, would seize the assets (in banks, land, investments, from foreign holders and our bond debt would be nullified which would crush several nations alone.) Interesting idea. How long would Europe last against both their Islamic invasion and the Russians? Or would a bargain be brokered? How long til something breaks out Asia? The US really pulling inwards- would it start the end of the world? Probably? Or maybe not? Just a realignment and no more Western countries?

I am just checking in from the fallout bunker, is everything okay topside?  I still have three years and fifty-one weeks worth of rations left.

Have the radioactive zombies climbed over the wall yet and if so do we have enough US military left to defend ourselves against the Russians?

I hope so, I don't want to share my freeze-dried food with no filthy foreign types, especially the damn Britlers.

I hope the rest of you are as comfortable as I am weathering the apocalypse.

It's fine. We renamed the country to Russia II and call each other comrade now, but other than that things are about the same. Oh, and Mexico built a wall to keep us out.

I'd say it has no bearing on anything. We've elected generals as president in the past and, most famously, they warned us against the military-industrial complex. Being in the military does not mean you are indoctrinated or even hawkish. It simply means you spent time in the military. Yet, two or three weeks ago being a general was a stigma, something the media suggested should disqualify someone from being in office rather than qualify them. Today, it's the complete opposite argument being put forth and your memory is so short that you can't look back a few weeks to judge if the narrative you're being fed by the MSM is valid.

You are right, SciFi.   It's just me saying  this in response to your post.  And I am just some guy.  Nobody important to any of you, really.  But I would put this out for (non?)consideration, when I pulled my first trigger on another human being, my whole world view changed.  And much of what the rest of 'you' considered important.  Wasn't.  To me.  Anymore.

I am less suspicious of uniforms than I am of suits.  'Uniforms' give of themselves.  'Suits' tend to give to themselves.  There are no uniforms amongst the sheep.

Time for another ptchur of Martinis.
