Heehee! It's just killing you that he's already turning things around here and hasn't even been sworn in yet.  ;D

If he had a D after his name instead of an R, we'd be hearing nothing but how wonderfully 'historic' this all is.

Quote from: SredniVashtar on December 02, 2016, 09:21:31 AM
... the only way you will be able to ameliorate the worst excesses of capitalism is from a left perspective. Basically, the whole trend of history is the weak v the strong and you have to pick a side. I don't 'sneer' at people who don't understand that, I just think they're wrong and misguided. If the serious flaws in the system continue to be ignored, and people are angry enough, it leads to civil unrest, if not outright revolution.

Whenever I come across something like this, I think of young Barry just 8 years ago:  ''We are the ones we've been waiting for''

I think probably one of the best examples of centrism in world politics is Australia, where the two main parties are only slightly left or right of center and differ very little. With that said, even there the anti globalist and anti immigration parties are gaining rapid support.

I agree. If I had to pick a country where centrism was a basic rule, I would say Australia. But you're right, I know a few Australians and they seem pretty fed up with immigration standards down under.

I wouldn't hold up any commonwealth country as an example of anything but royalty driven globalism.  ;)

Centrist...really?  :D

Wow, that was lucky. Thankfully Trump has said he'll eliminate crime, so such as this won't happen again.  :)

Apparently Billary's gal-pal Huma's soon to be ex-husband Weiner is broke and improperly used campaign funds. The article does include the documents about him being fined for improper use of campaign funds, giving some credit for actually providing a source document in their article, and claims Weiner's parents are taking out a mortgage to pay for his "sex addition" treatment.

Yeah.  First he was bragging that he had a mandate.  Now that he's millions behind he says the popular vote was rigged.  Maybe he doesn't know the meaning of 'mandate'.  He's not too bright.

I am really not sure about which you speak, is the above statement in reference to 1991, 1995, 1999, 2003, 2007, 2011, or 2015 selection saison>?  (peut-etre mes mathematiques sont mailaise>? mm..must tank ondis,.

Not sure that's been conclusively determined yet but it's not a surprising opinion from you. I've always considered you the American pud here. Of course, that means you're a lot nicer and generally more intelligent about it but essentially most of what you're usually saying can be summed up as:

What scares me is with the sheer power the internet had over the US elections and Brexit, one has to think "the powers that be" are going to do everything they can to shut this down. What concerns me is Trump is going after net neutrality while making bizarre statements saying net neutrality infringes on conservative news outlets and relating it to the Fairness Doctrine which is a real WTF?

Rule 41 is terrifying. I've been reading about it as much as I can. The most concerning thing is it's extremely vague and despite congressional inquiries the FBI isn't saying anything about it. Any way you slice it, it's completely insidious. It could be as small as the FBI being able to go through fewer steps to get a search warrant and do things like judge shop until they get one to legally being able to outright hack millions of computers through malware and backdoors. There's a group of Senators who are trying to fight it including Al Franken but it seems more symbolic than anything.

If I may? Stay with me on this:

First of all we need to define 'republican' (small r); that means different things to different people. In France, its a secular, anti monarchy, anti establishment society. Originating from the revolution that deposed and killed the incumbant monarchy. The people rose up and decided that the collective would run things. Napolean extended it to be a dictatorship, although its original and subsequent radicalism promoted liberalism; this included freedom of religion, same sex relationships and really crazy stuff like civil rights for black people and Jews.

It spread liberalism, nationalism, socialism, feminism (as in equality for women).. it pretty much was the catalyst for modern democray and the downfall of feudalism; nuturing wars were the entire country was involved. Later the Russian revolution had a very similar format, the people rose up and destroyed the monarchy, formulating the idea of a people led country with no hieracy. (Only that isn't what happened)

In the UK, a republican is viewed similar; anti monarchy, pro 'worker', and promotion of the workers right to the means of production; aka, the view of Karl Marx. It confuses things, that over in Ireland, a republican is a Catholic, possibly PIRA member who wishes to have an Ireland without the divide within.

You ask what a leftist is? Someone who promotes/desires equality of rights and privileges, irrespective of financial or social status. Someone who despises someone born with a silver (or gold) spoon in their mouth. Far left (Communist) is usually seen as someone promoting and desiring equality of social and financial status with no hierachy whatsoever. Running the town/county/country as a collective, with no overall leadership. Basically run as a committee. As someone who has sat on a committee, I can vouch for the fundamental flaw in that philosophy! Nothing gets done.

Its why, when fingers are pointed to the east and using NK, old Soviet Union, as 'Communist', I wonder which bit of 'collective' isn't understood. Both examples were/are dictatorships, with a despot or hierachy who had no intention of being 'one of the people'. Moscow had lanes in the roads that were only open for the elite in the Kremlin.

The 'left' therefore is whatever suits the narrative, but keep in mind, the US political system has its roots in the French revolution. And that was the people wanting freedom from hierachies born into privilege.

Yorkie!  I love/loathe this post.  Still hating on your betters!  Hah I too look to the east and see failed civilizations, among them your Anglish one.

I boldly highlight the moar high-larry-US historinic (hystomoronic?{sp}) bits of your screed.  Some deserving comment, others not so much.

For the last bit of highlighted empirical argument that is mathematically difficile a reconciller I have two relevant dates 1776 ANDPERSAND(sp) 1789.  (Please show your work without monarchial help!)

Tschuss!

You know that so many Trump voters voted for him out of dislike for Clinton?  Well, a lot of Clinton voters did the same.

Yes, there's an element of radical nutjobs who screw up every liberal-themed march with violence.  I don't know where they come from.  Marchers, since the 60's, have been observing that, a day or two into their peaceful demonstration, buses pull in from out of state full of the retards who destroy things.

Nothing that I have read has ever said where these jerks hail from.  If anyone here has a clue, I'd be happy to listen.

I'm a Bernie liberal who voted for Jill Stein.  Most of the people I know probably voted for Trump.  I think they're honest people who wanted a change, which is what I want, too.  We are all sick of the Clinton/Bush family entitlement.  There are minorities in each camp who are just nuts.  That's not the majority of us, though.

I think we are approaching the definition that PyeWhackit(sp, keeds!) so vehemently called for many pages back, I do hope SV has been taking notes and will frame his thesis in a manner that is both Anglishly and Aesthetically pleasing to all...

Good Stuff 2ndOne!
