Maybe I did not express myself clearly.  The number of electorates that a state has is totally dependent on their population.  They are allocated by the most recent census.  The more populated states are dictating who runs things now.

The advantage of the electoral college is not to the states, but to the parties, because legally the electorates can vote for other than who their constituents indicated.  It allows for more corruption, not less.

It is not completely dependent on the population.  A state is entitled to a minimum of 3 electoral votes, one for each Senator and Congressman.  As for your other point,  yes population is a factor but not the factor that it would be if there was no electoral college.  With the current system in place, small states still have an influential voice but if there was no electoral college, they would not.  That is the difference. 

The electoral college isn't going to go away.  The only way to do it is through constitutional amendment and flyover country is never going to support that.  If ,by some miracle, such an event took place, then you would be looking at secession on a large scale.

Whatever is going on in his brain, I have yet to see any evidence in any interview of any real capacity to understand, digest, analyze or recall complex pieces of information. Or to synthesize or generate anything but superficial ideas on the fly.

His thinking process is clearly much more intuitive than calculating, borne out in part by the fact that he doesn't read much and doesn't seem to think that it's a liability. I expect that he'll receive mostly dumbed-down, Dick and Jane tyoe briefings in an attempt to get him to make reasonable decisions.

But once the details and the subtleties of issues go out the window, it may very well be garbage in, garbage out, resulting in a White House that has big problems explaining what it is doing and reacting to the reactions of others.

We aren't far apart on Trump.  That isn't that far off from the impression I've had over the years as well.  So far he's made a lot of smart moves and good personnel choices, and I'm willing to be convinced. 

Thing is, there were no great candidates this time around, from either party out of nearly 20 running in the primaries.

But you know what about Donald Trump?  He isn't Hilary Clinton.  Dishonest, corrupt, incompetent, unlikeable, greedy, power hungry, her instincts are poor, her judgment is worse, no rules ever apply to her, no sense of personal responsibility.  Really, off the charts in all those negative categories - we've never seen anything like her before in this country.

I tuned it out early on - did she ever manage to find even one single accomplishment to put in front of the American people they would have a positive reaction to?

In the end, there was only one choice, and we as a country - even you, whether you realize it or not, or whether you ever realize it - were very fortunate.
