I'm sure the downtrodden masses will appreciate your selfless gesture of solidarity. Maybe you could bring some cake to share with them. Are you taking a limo to the march?  ::)

Chump change next to the 85 million of taxpayers money that Obama spent on his numerous vacations during his presidency.

http://www.mcclatchydc.com/news/politics-government/white-house/article123335079.html

How much is it costing to protect Trump Towers? I heard it was between $400,000 to $1 Million a day before inauguration. It would be less with just wife and kid there but still would be a pretty good chunk to secure a hotel in the middle of NYC.

NYC has send a bill of $35 Million dollars to cover the cost for the 2.5 months between election day and inauguration day. So in two months BEFORE he became officially president DJT has coast over 40% of what Obama did in travel in 8 years.

Uber. Cake or Death!

You're taking Uber? The C.E.O. is literally a Nazi! He's a hardcore Donald Drumpf supporter and supports the furor's Muslim ban! Over 200,000 Uber users have deleted their accounts as protest!

Wanting to make up for the slow first two weeks, Trump's gonna up the pace:

* Dissolve the CIA and replace with a Twitter-powered app

* Assume sole control over the Supreme Court and relegate Justices to an "advisory panel".

* Make hot pants part of the official uniform for women in the White House .. Sorry ladies, it's the law.

* Declare war on Tasmania.

Ha. There is some martial spirit that is stirred up by piping and drumming. The thing I can't understand is of all the places in the world for a man to wear a skirt Scotland is the least logical. It is so often cold, rainy, and winding there. I mean in a hot place I could see the logic- cool off, get some breathing room but I think the reason they drink so much is due to the historical memory of needing to drink lots of whiskey to take the pain away of their balls freezing off.

I've often wondered the same thing, and it's hard to get a definitive answer.  The best I've come up with is that, as the kilt is derived from a large blanket wrapped around the body and held in place by a belt (the top part was separated sometime around 1700 IIRC), its adoption as a permanent part of daily dress is a concession to the cold rather than defiance.

More interesting to me is why they never seem to have worn hose, from which breeches and then trousers descended.  Hose goes way back and was widely distributed -- I think they dug some up in Icelandic graves.

If my theory's right, what we're seeing in Highland dress is actually Roman-era drapery, without the intervening hose that left its mark on the rest of Europe.

I would suggest the cloak commonly worn with it and secured with a belt, with the tunic becoming the shirt, but yeah same idea.

...  You'll remember that in Milwaukee and Detroit there could be no recount in many districts because the source data (ballots, machine records, etc.)could not be produced or conflicted with the actual count...

By law in Michigan if the ballots cast didn't match the number of voters, there can be no recount (Who made that law?  Seems to me those would be the first ones recounted).  In hundreds of overwhelmingly Democrat precincts, the numbers didn't match.  In most of them, they were off by one.

Off by one.  Seems to me all some operative who didn't want certain precincts recounted - precincts where the Ds have a free hand to stuff the ballot box - would have to do is make sure the counts were off by one.  The Party of Government is so corrupt.

I would suggest fish net stockings and a black beaded clutch.

Thanks, Pye.  Like most of the stuff I've read, they treat the idea of a blanket wrapped around the body as a home-grown idea, when common sense tells you it's not and every peasant all over Europe probably went about like that in winter.  The only difference is the name.

Incidentally, students of these things know what's worn under it without having to ask.  Or peek.

I'm trying to turn this into your Ottoman-fashion thread.  Similar themes -- the collision of trouser-wearing steppe horsemen with oriental robes.  Please, somebody start this!

Lyft is the progressive choice! They just donated $1,000,000 to the ACLU to show up those Uber shitlords!
