Spitting Image was an irreverent comedic, satirical series in the 80's. Two blokes (From memory Messrs Fluck and Law) had the idea to have grotesque almost life sized puppets controlled out of sight with the voices provided by impressionists (Not always females doing female voices and vice versa). They ripped the piss out of politicians of all sides and nationalities; the Royal family; Sports stars; Rock and pop groups. You name it they had a script.

I liked the humor and satire and writing, for the most part. But the puppets. Ugh. I'm trying to recollect...and Wiki saved me...yes we had an Americanized version of it (plus the music videos) but, I think, the PBS (our public broadcasting service, like BBC) might have played your ones also, at some point?)

The US wrestling team won't be able to compete in this month's Freestyle World Cup in Iran because visas were denied to its members, the Iranian semiofficial Tasnim News Agency said Friday.

Iranian Ministry of Foreign Affairs spokesman Bahram Ghasemi said a special committee reviewed the case Friday and "eventually the visit by the USA freestyle wrestling team was opposed," according to the agency.

Boeing's $8 billion deal to sell 80 jets to Iran Air was already in trouble before President Trump took office. Now it's even more in doubt.
And that could mean trouble for American factory workers whose jobs depend on that sale.
Trump has long been harshly critical of the Iran nuclear deal which allowed the Obama administration to clear Boeing's sale to Iran last December.

It's an old idea that keeps coming back.

This post did not get the fellatio that it deserves. I heard that from a friend.

Okay, this is interesting: I loved Spitting Image, and I eventually came to assume that it was run by a government ministry of propaganda.

That this loudmouth cunt is suddenly Johnny-on-the-spot with a fucking hyperbiography to correct the record speaks volumes.

What is the current position on Trump and Wall street? Serious question, because I've read conflicting things on this.

Depending on what "fake news" you read? Kidding. I don't see an adversarial relationship except some of the 'internet' or 'social media' companies.  He appointed guys who are Wall Street guys. And close adviser is a homosexual 'internet' guy (very odd for the NAZI who has Jewish relatives even.) I think the FED will cause him some problems because the artificial levels cannot continue and they have been holding off adjusting until Obama left office. There are some sectors that are another 'house of cards,' me thinks. But who knows? So much of Wall St (and etc) speculation/investments are based on emotion, computer trading, hedging, and even outright scams- not necessarily 'investment' in terms of long-term growth or ideas of building up a company due to its real value or worth. And the various uncertainties in the world? Who knows? You read things in various papers that are contradictory. Even in the same paper or Op-Ed section etc. Like other things, "very much interesting," as Charlie Chan might say.

Was Spitting Image responsible for the Genesis music video, Land of Confusion, which I hated with a passion? I got tired early on of people making fun of Reagan.

I think the contradictory thing is a trait of the Bannon era. Put out headline grabbing hyperbole to satisfy the supporters, and then pull it back later to either "We didn't say that'' (they did), or "My 'expert' is dealing with it, and I value his opinion".

Which makes me a bit dubious about anything that the WH comes out with. We should all now be just treating any statement with a reaction somewhere between hilarity and horror, and then leave it a couple of hours/days and go for somewhere in between; As for where that 'in between' is, is problematic, because Bannon doesn't even tell the staff, Congress and Senators what they should be informed with, so the rest of the world is way down the pile.

I don't know about that. The Reagan thing was great in conjunction with Thatcher. One memorable one was the Pope and Jesus being in St Peters square.

Pope: "Who is that with the beard?'

Cardinal: "That's Jesus Christ, your Eminence"

P: 'Jesus Christ?"

C: ''Yes, Jesus Christ.''

P: ''Jesus Christ!!!''

Wait, are you referring Occupy Wall St, or Thug Lives Matter?  Or neither of them, but someone the mob doesn't agree with?

So confusing.

I think Ms Uhura calls this the rich history of protest and lively debate

Quote from: Justin has two cars now on February 03, 2017, 12:48:13 PM

Agreed. Why didn't Ms Conway also mention that the famous Gingerbread house shootout was buried in the back pages of the newspapers back in 2009?

Remember Bill Clinton biting his lip, tearing up, voice quavering, when talking about all the black churches being burned in Arkansas when he was growing up?

That got quite a bit of play for a time, until the research was done and it turned out there wasn't a single one during his entire childhood.  That was before the term Fake News was coined though.  And of course - him being a Democrat - it was never brought up again.

That's like the highly touted rookie pitcher the older players called "Jesus."  He got the name when the players were standing  around the batting cage watching him warm he threw a fast ball and there was a chorus of "JESUS!"

You mean a judge who does what Trump tells him or her to do, and not what the laws say can be and cannot be done?

And what laws would those be?

This is another phony judge, who ruled this is targeted people based on religious beliefs.  First there is nothing in the Constitution about religious beliefs when it comes to immigration - in fact religious beliefs have been part of immigration law, and I believe are currently - and second, there is nothing about religious beliefs in the Executive Order.

Third, I'm not sure the judiciary has a role when it comes to making immigration law, period.

This ruling is based on nothing more than this particular judge's personal views, like many of the rulings by Democrat appointed judges.

And here Pud is, bleating about laws.  Which laws, Pud?

The ruling seems to hinge on Trump's giving preference to persecuted Christians.

Just to clear up a few things.  This "professor" isn't a professor at all.  This person who claims is a professor is actually a man...surprise, surprise.

This "person" teaches a "performance art" workshop at some Museum a few times a month or so.

You can watch some this "person's" "performance art" here:

These people are the reason Donald Trump won, and will be re-elected again.  I can't imagine any sane person allying themselves with literally mentally and emotionally stunted morons like this.

**Edit

Apparently she is indeed a female.

He's not a CEO of some major bank or Fortune 100 company - he has his own business, which he built.  What would that have to do with Wall St?

Fiscal regulations.

Someone compiled all the national news reporting supposed hate crimes on imgur.

Not sure why the media isn't reporting on this epidemic of fake hate crimes.

Fiscal regulations.

Trump's company is private.  He doesn't issue securities to the public.  His company isn't subject to any of that, that I know of.

He has no fiscal disclosure issues with the government, other than filing corporate tax returns.

Sarbanes-Oxley is stupid and counterproductive, but again that's an SEC rule.

The banks have more and more regulatory reports to file, but that wouldn't concern Trump even if his company were public.

Trump uses AF1 to go to Florida for a Rep fund raiser... Is this the same Trump who railed against Obama using AF1 for private matters? I think it might be.. :-\
