Steel and aluminum are strategic materials.  We should do what we have to do to rebuild our production capacity to a level that will allow us to build whatever we need to fight a war.  China currently provides about 25% of the steel we use.  We also import Russian steel and steel from 12-15 other countries.  Do you think that China or Russia would continue to provide 30-35% of our peacetime requirement for steel if hostilities broke out between the U.S. and one or both of them or any of their proxies.
