I'm speaking in general terms of those who voted.  Yes, numbers were down as the two candidates were not the best or the brightest.

Highest total turnout ever, second highest percent turnout of eligible voters I believe since the voting age was lowered in 1972.  Not an enormous percent different since turnout (in Presidential election years anyway) has been around 60% since the 2004 Presidential election.  This 'fake news' of lesser total votes cast in 2016 compared to 2012 was due to a couple idiot reporters who weren't aware that millions of votes are cast by mail in the three Pacific states.  The highest profile of these articles mentioned that, but said 'there are only a few votes outstanding.'  Except the 'few votes' turned out to be something like 16 million votes.

Like I said, I only added up the two candidates because the other parties had very little impact.  I hope that changes, by the way. I still maintain the enthusiasm was down for the two main candidates and more people voted against a candidate rather than for another.

If I had written a comment claiming that enthusiasm for the 2016 election was high because it had the highest raw vote ever, your reply would be correct.  I did not make any such comment.   

I reply to this because this highlights the problem with black and white thinkers who demand the perfect statistic that covers a situation completely (not calling you here a black and white thinker)  whereas, in virtually all cases different statistics on the same thing better reflect different contexts. Also,  most of the time, quantitative analysis is better served with additional qualitative analysis.

By the way, the biggest voter manipulation/fraud is caused by illegals and other non-citizens. Because during the census ALL residents are counted. So when a certain state or sanctuary city allows millions of illegals in their population is much higher and so they will get more apportionment and votes in the House. So even when the illegals themselves don't vote, which they sometimes do, the people that support them (mainly Democrat and certain States) get more votes and the cycle continues that they "pay off" and pander to the illegals by granting more pro-illegal alien policies, draw more in, and then get more voting power.

Yeah, Lon Chaney was for the most part a silent screen actor and was long dead when I was a young’n and Jr. was no kid at the time.  I remember my mother and father taking my older sister and me to at least 3 of the evening showings of Jr’s movies when I was fairly young.  My sister was 4 years older and my brother wasn’t born yet.   I still wonder what they were thinking although I wasn’t at all traumatized by it.  Probably they just didn’t want to spring for a baby sitter.

Not the actual document and language but certainly some of it as "interpreted " and "expanded" by certain Courts, etc later. And, as Justice Jackson (echoing Jefferson and others) said in a famous dissent "it is not a suicide pact." I question whether or not there can be such a thing as a "country," by definition, if there is no border.

Re: Trump. If he is going to continue to tweet all the time he needs to be more careful and source them lest he tweets "fake news." MO allows a deducation for Federal income tax (up to $5k for single, $10k for joint), so change in Federal not a benefit in MO for most who itemize.
