President Donald J. Trump

Well, who knows, maybe the spectacle of children and their mothers grotesquely  contorted in the final death throes of Sarin poisoning will finally result in a No-Fly zone in Syria. Go Trump. MAGA...and all that stuff.

Soros-Linked Group Behind Chemical Attack in Syria

A day prior to the attack, Gulf-based Orient TV announced “Tomorrow we are launching a media campaign to cover the airstrikes on Hama country side including the usage of chemical warfare against civilians.” This shows clear foreknowledge that the rebels were going to stage an attack by Orient TV.

Seriously?  We're going to intercept and/or shoot down Russian planes?

mikuthing01

I just called my congressman and told him no intervention in Syria. My ride on the Trump train is coming to an end FUCK DRUMPF AND FUCK ISRAEL!

I don't think the Russians would violate a no-fly order.  Trump MUST show he is not afraid to do what is necessary in dealing with Russia and their murderous allies. He absolutely cannot stand by and allow chemical attacks and genocide to occur and do nothing about it.

Possible air strikes tonight.

The Syrian Gas Attack Persuasion

Quote
*Interesting timing.

*Super-powerful visual persuasion designed for Trump in particular.

*Suspiciously well-documented event for a place with no real press.

*No motive for Assad to use gas to kill a few dozen people at the cost of his entire regime. It wouldn’t be a popular move with Putin either.

*The type of attack no U.S. president can ignore and come away intact.

*A setup that looks suspiciously similar to the false WMD stories that sparked the Iraq war.

...

I don’t think we’ll ever know what’s going on over there. But I think we can rule out the idea that Assad decided to commit suicide-by-Trump.

Trump is in way over his head. Threatening war with Syria today, more bullying and bluster with China expected tomorrow. His impulsive, volatile character is on full display with his lack of diplomacy, inexperience, and inability to comprehended the long-term effects of his decisions. Even worse, his unstable WH is fraught with chaos, infighting, and nepotism by equally unqualified staff and appointees. This will not end well.

What changed with the gas attack? Bombs are equally destructive. Why escalate the death and destruction? Humanitarian relief would be the only involvement I would support.

While Trump plays golf, real-estate-salesman-son-in-law Jared has been tasked with negotiating peace in the Mid-East, improving relationships with China and Mexico, bringing back jobs to the US, reforming our criminal justice system, resolving our opiate epidemic...oh, and in his spare time he's still looking for a billionaire to unload his NYC property at 666 5th Avenue, and testifying about his ties to Russian officials. Evidently it's Jared who will MAGA.

Nor should he allow himself to be stampeded into doing what is not in the best interest of the United States

1.  We don't know who did this.  Israel benefits the most.

2.  Thanks to Obama, who so cleverly cheered the Russian entry into Syria, cut and ran from Iraq when their military wasn't ready, and stood by while ISIS grew and expanded, we are in no position to do otherwise

Elections have consequences.  Obama dug a real hole there.  Some things can't be fixed, or fixed right away, or fixed militarily.

3.  We are not the world's policeman.  There are shitty things occurring all over the world all the time.  We get ourselves involved far too often, and usually make things worse.

4.  What did we get for feeding the Muslim Somalis?  What did we get for helping the Muslim Bosnians?  What did we get for driving the Soviets out of Muslim Afghanistan?  What did we get for driving the Taliban out of power in Muslim Afghanistan?  What did we get for overthrowing Saddam Hussein?  What's our thanks for assisting Muslim refugees?

Why would we get involved with this, this time?  Risk the lives of our military for these people?  Risk conflict with Russia over this?  No.  Hell No.

We should have been on the side of Assad all along.  It was a mistake to attack Iraq and force Saddam Hussein from power.  It was a mistake to abandon Mubarak in Egypt, and have the Moslem Brotherhood take over.  It was a mistake to create the conditions in Libya leading to Khadafy's defeat.  It was a mistake to not support the Shah in Iran.

These countries are not democracies.  They do not have the infrastructure to support democracy (a free press and experience with free elections, for starters).  Islam is not compatible with democracy.

These people (Assad, Hussein, etc) are the best able to run those countries.  They are able to keep the lid on things.  Whoever comes after them will not be a friendly democratic leader, they will be worse.

What the fuck is your point?  No one follows this thread to recieve a lesson in art appreciation.  What's next, a history of lesbianism in America?  If you have nothing on topic to say, STFU.

Thank you for proving my point -- knuckle-dragger.

This is going to be interesting, this is first time Trump has to own one of these decisions. He's always been an arm-chair QB, the guy who would call a baseball post game show whenever the team loses and claim he would do the opposite (claims the manager left the starter in to long that's why they lost, next night claims the man went to the bullpen too long, that's they lost) Of course always after the fact.

Remember, Iraq war he was for it when emotions were up, then was against it when people started souring on it. He went for being open to single-payer (in the campaign) to fully out of government hands, to what the Republicans pushed for their new plan. For that he pushed hard for it, then when it failed he kinda shrugged and acted like he didn't really love it anyway, to back to being angry at the freedom caucus in shutting it down.

This is very curious, because I have seen Trump supporters certain that he will follow their beliefs which is polar opposite of each other. Half are telling him to be "The Strong leader you say you are, do the job Obama didn't, show American might" and the other half are saying "Dude you said America first, we aren't the world police, no upside going there" The kick in the pants, both Trump supporters are quoting correctly, he pandered to both sides, and now this incident makes thing come to a head.

I think this is how his mistresses feel when they find out he's cheating on both of them

you're hemorrhaging votes with this "us vs. them" shit.
special elections coming up and we need every deplorable we can get

There is a time and place for SHAMING. When a society can no longer distinguish or recognize that which is unguestionably and legitimately "shameful", when defying truth itself becomes "normal" and acceptable,  that is the time to remind them â€" publicly, and in no uncertain terms or pussy-footin manner. That time is NOW.

Have you always been such a churlish, petty and willingly obdurate little person. Posts like this make you sound like a petulant little third grader who wasn't given a part in the school play and is lashing out at those who did with outlandish mockery and criticism.  What exactly do you think you accomplish with posts like this.  How does it advance your argument or change anyone's opinion?  Maybe you should try wiping your nose, pulling up your socks and acting your age.  Who knows--you might change some minds instead of solidifying contrary opinions.

They all sound this way to me, which is why I rarely even read their posts anymore.  ;)

The "anti-war left" blew away like a fart in the wind sometime in 2009.

Anyone sane doesn't want war. Its the last resort. I agreed with GW1 not GW2. The tragedy with both was the lack of forward thinking and a plan for what the final outcome was. Hence the bloodbath we have now in the ME.
Woulda, coulda, shoulda is trotted out on the aftermath after every conflict, and everyone is a general.

Taking out Assad directly will take him out, but what afterwards? I'd suggest massive humanitarian aid, and go from there. Trump would then have a valid reason to get off twitter and bragging about himself. He could sell the vision that the only Americans foreigners in conflict see don't have to be just the military with weapons out to kill them. Go from there.

That's exactly the problem. And then you have this:

QuoteThe proposed strike would involve launching Tomahawk cruise missiles to overwhelm Russian air defense systems used by the Syrian military. The Russian government currently helps maintain the air defense sites and advises the Syrian military.

According to both U.S. military officials, the current proposal would likely result in Russian military deaths and mark a drastic escalation of U.S. force in Syria.
