Yeah but who else? Anybody but Billary and if even 50% of what Trump is saying he believes in or will do it is better off that with Obama and others of his ilk. At least Trump is somewhat strong on the border, a little too soft in my opinion but compared to the others.

I agree not a strong field. Bernie okay, but overall I like the idea of a younger energetic candidate kinda like a Obama or a Bill Clinton or even if you want to go back to JFK, those seem to have most success bringing out voters. Long time players like John Kerry turn out to be a bit of a bust during general elections. On the republican side, Jeb probably had the best resume but the baggage of his brother was underestimated and early on he felt entitled for the spot which hurt him. I always had a soft spot for the Pauls.

He says stuff that might like, but again the guy has no resume, was he even in school council lol? There just nothing there to compare him too. Even Jesse Ventura like him or not was a mayor and a governor.

I don't like his policies as they seem either short-sighted or out right damaging. His personality is even worse, I think it's concerning how quickly he turns on somebody over the slightest criticism. He seem like somebody who would isolate himself and the entire nation on the world stage over a simple disagreement.

I predicted on NYE that Trump would be gone by late March.  But I have to agree with you about the overall weak field of candidates.  There is no clear front-runner, all seem a compromise in some way or another.  I'm going for Bernie, but his age concerns me, and this campaign would make a young man old.  I expect more surprises before November.

Does anyone know what happens if after both conventions have selected their candidate, and in the remaining months until the GE, one or both of the candidates quit or are eliminated?  Do they go back and chose the 2nd place from the primary, or someone entirely new?

Every state has its own ballot regs.  If the major party candidates collapse after the deadlines, tough luck.  It'll be a contest between the Liberarians, Greens and the Workers Party, and write-ins.

So new story of the day. This classy trump Nazi was photographed. The always "honest" trump supporters started to spin and say she really is a Bernie supporter linking to a Bernie supporters page, where Trump son repeated the allegation. One problem, it's not that Bernie supporter. I hope the Bernie supporter who was falsely accused sues the sh*t out of Trump's son.

Reminds me when the Time photographer was knocked down by Trumps SS. The Trump cult spin became that the photographer started and showed a still of the photographer hand going to the SS. Again one problem, the truth. When you look at the video the photographer never touched the SS, maybe he was aggressive in wanting to get a good photo but he didn't touch him. Out of no where the SS threw him on the ground, the photographer got up and then reacted in pushing back. But the caption made it sound like he started it.

It becomes so easy to lie, even if you look at the video and becomes obvious what the caption/the photo wasn't matching up.

I've been conversing with anti-Trump people. They're so hilariously misinformed and quite frankly stupid that it's reminiscent of Bush Jr. supporters.

I am a Bernie supporter but if Hillary gets the nomination before or during the convention any violence won't come from either candidates' supporters. Currently most disturbances have come from outside groups like Black Lives Matter. That would be the case in Chicago.

Yeah, MoveOn.org claimed credit for yesterday. This is a problematic group, because if the superdelegate's end up being the factor that puts Hillary in as the nominee, then those groups have every incentive to incite riots against that too. They're basically saying as much on their site. But I do agree, the problem isn't rank and file Bernie or Hillary Democrats inciting violence, it's the outside groups.

Trump supporters, however, in general seem to be a cranky group. And they will probably have their fair share of protesters too in Cleveland

It's more than cranky, it's angry. We've sat around for the last two decades getting screwed by our own party's establishment. That goes for the Cruz supporters too, they're just as angry about it. The GOP establishment failed to take heed when the Tea Party movement formed up, instead they used it to sneak establishment candidates like Rubio in and continue to push their special interest driven agendas. As a result, the anger seethed and grew.

I don't think the Democrats are far behind. Bernie is like the left's Ron Paul. The Dems are where the GOP was in 2012. They'll end up with Hillary as the nominee, but there will be a general discontentment and malaise, and an ambivalence towards her. She'll probably lose the election to Trump due to low turn out, and in 2020 there will be some sort of shake up or revolt within the Democratic Party.
