I think people invoke Bell too much on here but the show was better when he hosted. But I don't see people being stuck on Bell. They just remember what the show could be and sees how it is...
Yeah, just listen to an episode of Somewhere In Time!  The man is an absolute legend because he could talk about near anything and fascinate you with the conversation!
If you can't find it locally try www.960weli.com on Saturday night 9pm eastern.

I think you mean, if Art Bell wasn't the original host but now hosting. I think you did, you sound like John B Wells during his show then.

I don't think anyone is really comparing Noory/Wells to Bell anymore, they don't have to. Wells is just that bad. It is really depressing to remember the show back then anyways. I think people try to forget about how good the how was if anything.

My phrasing makes perfect sense, and i stand by it. There was not any dead air/stoner pauses in my typing so how could I sound... like... John B. in for the ride tonight.... come most presently upon your hour... mother ship.... FEMA camps... buy radiation equipment because Fukashima was an inside job...

But yes I agree people do invoke Art too much.

What would be the right amount of Art invocation?

A pentagram, 6 cups of goats blood mixed with coffee, and a pack of cigarettes would be the right amounts for an Art Bell invocation.

Whew! for a second there I thought I was going to need another goat.

This Saturday....

Ufologist Nick Pope takes time off from his TV appearances to join John B. Wells to discuss the U.K.'s recent unloading of secret classified UFO documents, and why UFO disclosure could be imminent.

if Art Bell hadn't been the original host some people would be whining about how awful that new host from the high desert and the great american southwest is...

John B. Wells and open lines tonight.  John's callers usually end up making him sound like the voice of reason.  It looks like an early Friday night for me, but I suppose I shouldn't prejudge.

While John B is no Art Bell, I actually enjoy listening to him from time to time. Wells reminds me lot of the old pre-2000 Art Bell when at least half the shows were of a doom and gloom topic. Have you guys forgotton all about how Art constantly pushed Peenman Enterprises products?

They conveniently don't air the doom and gloom shows on Somewhere in Time and cut out the Peenman Enterprises products adverts as well. I think most people have forgotton what the show was about most of the time back in the day.

Maybe I am missing your point... Peenman was a Phil Hendrie spoof of Art Bell. I would agree Art had his share of "what if" scenarios. Art favored The Day After Tomorrow mind set (probably still does). But the shows then weren't the dour, nihilistic pieces of shit that are presented as entertainment that team noory gives us currently.

Dr. Steve Pieczenik sounded like a cross between Gerald Celente on quaaludes (are they still around?  It seems everyone on drugs these days is on some sort of speed) and John McCain.  His geopolitical analysis was nothing we haven't heard before (the middle east is a mess - let them sort it out - we can take back this country - Putin is one slick monkey), but I appreciated it delivered in a calm, reasoned, authoritative way.  Did he say he hung out with Nicolae Ceausescu?  The former Romanian dictator who got taken out by that late-eighties, freedom loving, tired of the commie crap, we got nothing to loose, rabble?  Yeah, this guy has been around the block.  So I got tired of Wells talking about this so-called "full spectrum dominance" website and checked it out.  Somewhat interesting.  Huge list of links to other websites, most of which seem very useless, but who knows?

I only listen to the show since I work an overnight job and it helps pass the time. I know the hosts and guests are full of crap but realize it's just entertainment like any other.

John B. Wells stated last night that England and France will be "gone' within 25 years.  He was making reference to a Vincent Cooper article that has gone viral on the internet claiming that the United Kingdom will have a Muslim majority by the year 2050.

Neglecting the fact that Mr. Wells can't do simple math, 2050 is 37 years away, not 25.   As for the "England being gone" in 35 or 37 years - it's not going to happen.

The U.K.'s Channel 4 did a fact check with available statistics and concluded that "FactCheck wouldn’t bet on the British Muslim population ever topping 10 per cent, let alone 50 per cent."

Mr. Wells proves once again that, everytime he opens his mouth, nothing but pure methane came out.  Another example of the "Truth" Coast fans get from "the mothership."

The Channel 4 article is at http://blogs.channel4.com/factcheck/factcheck-will-britain-have-a-muslim-majority-by-2050/13690

I gave Wells a listen last night... great voice, truly.  It's just a shame he loves his own voice so much and takes himself so seriously.  I also get really tired of his doom-and-gloom NWD/Libertariansm (or whatever you'd call it).

I'm a huge Hendrie fan, so yes I know Peenman is a spoof. I'm just saying I can listen to Wells on occasion without dozing off, but definately not on a nightly basis as I did with Art.

I'm kind of bummed though that Hendrie recently moved his show back to the time slot it had been in a few years ago. It was great to have Hendrie up against Noory cuz it's a no brainer what to listen to. Now I have to choose between Hendrie and Tim Conway Jr which blows!

I'm just listening to last nights show now.  Probably the first show I have listened to in a couple of months.  It may not be a classic coast episode, but it isn't that bad. Wells has a great late night voice, he's played some good bumper tunes, weirdo's are calling in.  Beats the shit out of listening to Noory.

RedMichael

The thing is a "not bad" C2C show from Wells is basically an incredible Wells show where he was at the pinnacle of his talent.

Wells voice is great but that is it. It actually gets annoying when you start to realize he has no idea what he is doing.

This caller during open lines with John Wells right now has called in several times before, Annie in Alabama, always talking about strange conspiracies like global warming caused by mowing grass lawns too short...

She must really hate having to mow the lawn.  I'm pretty sure it's carbon neutral, apart from the exhaust from the mower.  I believe growing grass absorbs more carbon dioxide than fully grown grass, but of course the clippings release it back as they rot.  In any event it's a pretty narrow world view when you think mowing the lawn or not is a major contributor to global warming

I'm hoping Nick Pope will avoid Wells compulsive veering of almost all topics into the dark political conspiracy ditch.

Why has The Breather got the Geico gecko on as a guest?

Makes as much sense as the bill introduced in Congress, a part of which would require all buildings to have white roofs to reflect sunlight.

The Berkeley City Council recently wanted to mandate everyone do their houses at about $35k each.  Just before they were tarred and feathered they decided it would be a 'hardship' and ended up not voting on it.  For now.

When it comes to forcing an expensive, intrusive idea on us - the dumber the better - they never give up.  I'm guessing Barbara Lee (D) Oakland/Berkeley had sumpthin to do with this bill.

Thought Wells was his usual doom-and-gloom persona last night.  After a very babbling, teenager-like introduction (not a direct quote, just a paraphrase), "We have a guest who is, like, going to, like, discuss all sorts of new NSA issues...."  He even mentioned at the program's close how he fumbled the intro.  He signed off by requesting a "flood" of emails to Premiere about how great he is as host.  Is he after Noory's anchor seat?

I have mixed feelings about Nick Pope; Sure he says he worked on the aerial anomalies desk with MI5, but there's no way of proving it one way or the other. He's obviously not said anything too controversial or he'd be arrested and in court answering, in camera, charges related to the official secrets act. Whenever there is a release of papers that are related, he's trotted out on the TV, radio and the net shows to give his take on it (pretty much repeating what he was saying twenty years ago), and presumably making a living from being asked to attend conventions etc... I could do that..From being about ten up until my mid thirties I had loads of books (pre net) on UFO's and aliens.. I even believed a lot of what was in them. Amply qualified.

So John; if you're reading and Nick is off with a bug or something, give me a call, I can fill an hour or so with speculation, scenarios and circumstantial evidence related to UFO's and aliens... I'm cheaper than Nick too.

I have some bad news.  It seems you're overqualified and therefore your application must be denied.

I think C2C does not pay their guests (except Linda Moulton Howe)

I don't listen much anymore but he was either trying to be sarcastic or that is pathetic. Someone should send in a clip of him asking that if that is the case.

I sent a few emails to the show's sponsors/facebook pages after Wells declared he couldn't be sure if anyone died at Sandy Hook Elementary.  I'd very much like to think others have as well.  I am hoping that market forces will correct his behavior (It isn't censorship, he is welcome to his beliefs and a radio show isn't a right).
