Art Bell had a show called Area 2000 not sure when it aried, not sure if it was was the beginning of Coast to Coast or if it was the beginning to Dreamland. I would love to hear these shows. Anyone have any information about this Program?

i've heard him make reference to the show, i think he writes about it in the art of talk. Area 2000 was when he was still commuting to las vegas to do his show if i remember this right.

never heard of someone having a copy of one of these shows. sure would be fun though!

for some reason i want to say that area 2000 was before coast to coast AM, but i have a hazy memory right now

I think Area 2000 and Dreamland are basically the same show.The name was changed to dreamland in 1994. From 1993 to roughly 1999, Art Bell was doing two shows "Coast to Coast AM" M-F and Dreamland on Sunday. Dreamland was often pre-taped in fact, Art would often make mention on c2c that he is taping dreamland on such and such a day and you can call in during the taping of the show. And Coast to Coast prior to 1993 was called 'West Coast AM" but the show got bigger and they had to change the name.

I was going to ask the same thing.  Was listening to an audio version of the Art of Talk and he mentioned it... did a google search to see if any shows popped up and right here is where it sent me.

Yes Area 2000 was Art's first incarnation of what later became "Dreamland" in  the early 1990s.
Aired once a week, on Sunday nights, 3 hours usually the first hour had Linda Howe and her reports, followed by a 2 hour interview with a guest and no callers.
