Switzerland doesn't have a large army; so the men (I think it's just men) are recruited into the national militia. Although I can't imagine Germany, Italy or France invading them..Unless Lichtenstein has ideas?  :)

The by product of that is that firearm ownership is not taken as a right. It's a privilege. Hunting is regulated (as in Germany) insofar regarding time of the year, which animals etc. I was staying with a family in southern Germany in 91 and he hunted deer and wild boar (with his Swiss friend). One night he didn't cleanly kill an old stag in the forest and came back to call (no commonly used cell phones then) a couple of friends to help them find it and put it out of it's misery. He was really worried it would be found injured as he'd have been prosecuted if it was found it was him.
Nobody is going to invade Switzerland because the gnomes of Zürich are holding their accounts. Something other beautiful Alpine regions, like Tyrol, should've tried. Guns are great but private bank accounts, secured borders and sane immigration policies, and nice tax rules are better for long term security.

That argument's weak because US gun homicide rates in the mid '90s were the all-time high and mask a statistically convenient  baseline that makes the current numbers look favorable.  The actual title on that Pew Center report is "Gun Homicide Rate Down 49% Since 1993 Peak".  Breitbart piece just saying "Hey, 32K bodies per year is better than 50K/yr".  The same Pew study also shows that rate of firearm-related homicides has been flat since 2001, as has the basic gun death number.

Ok so why must I neuter my magazine capacity again?

That's very sporting, and similar in ethics to how many sportsmen harvest game in the US.

Which makes sense as hunting is a priviliage, not a right in the USA.

To let the bad guys regain some ground. How do you miss the obvious.

Well, it is better, isn't it?  Or would you rather hold at 50,000 until firearm related homocides dips below the 2001 number?

Prosecuted because it wasn't a clean kill?  Or was he poaching?

I don't believe that deep expertise per se is really very significant in prevention of gun accidents and deaths.  Maturity, simple competence and awareness are far more important. One doesn't need to know ballistics, mods, and other "expert" stuff to handle and store a handgun (or rifle) securely and safely.

As much as I agree...

It doesn't matter what one agrees upon to determine what one aims at {que: language Nazi}...

Hungarian clone of a Browning Hi-Power.

The world's first Hi Capacity handgun from 1935.   14 rounds of 9mm.

Mine is a highly finished version with a nice polish and deep blueing.  I have since put more attractive checkered walnut stocks on it.   It's not quite up to the level of finish of the authentic FN/Browning, but it is certainly better than most of the clones out there.

I don't shoot it much, and don't think I would ever carry it.  I mainly like this one because it "feels" right.  My carry guns are either polymer/steel or aluminum alloy / steel, so the full steel on steel BHP is just a nice gun to take out in the sunlight once in a while

This is one of my wife's handguns.  A CZ-75 BD.   Not to be held back by a patriarchal society, the peacemaker is also the great gender equalizer.  She picked this up on her own one day on her own accord.  A smart choice as it suits her interests, style, and budget perfectly.

This is a full size high capacity 9mm service pistol that has been in service with the Czech military since 1975, and also in service or cloned by more militaries and police services than any other pistol in the world.  It is all steel, and has a nice heft to it, while having a nice "thinness" to it that proves that ergonomics were a concern to it's designers.  The weight lowers recoil nicely.  It is very accurate with three browning type lugs matched between the barrel and slide.  The trigger could be better, but it certainly holds up as a service pistol, and it's not difficult at all to learn enough control to cut clover leaf shaped patterns in the target at 21-30 feet, or further.  This particular version is a double action de-cocker, which to keep things simpler for the uninitiated, is a configuration that lends to a very safe trigger like a police revolver on the first shot, and a short, light target type trigger on subsequent shots, while allowing to make the gun "safe" for handling rapidly.

She mainly uses this for recreational shooting, but also has done some informal and formal competition with success above her level of regular practice.  She carries a bit smaller polymer model from Austria when travel and times recommend carrying one.

This is Art's Glock 23 8). (Used without permission of a pic swiped from his FB account.  I will remove if requested)

Glock is the best handgun ever made.  It is simple, reliable, and serviceable.  It is a pistol that professionals and new shooters all appreciate.  It is zen perfection in design.  Simple, usable, mand devoid of from frou.    It is used the world over for a variety of uses, and everyone who can, should own at least one.   I've owned about 7 various Glocks, and maintain a constant collection of 3 (in various sizes of course).

The Glock 23 is the 40 caliber version of the venerable Glock 19 (#1!)in 9mm.  A slight trade off of a few less rounds, for a stiffer punch of the 40 caliber round.  This is a fair trade off, but I prefer the quicker, shooting and less costly 9mm with my shooting schedule

Don't fuck with Art. He's a deadeye  ;D.[attachment id=0 msg=566631]

This isn't mine either.  This is a Clark Custom Guns "Meltdown" of a Colt Officer's Automatic 1911 pistol.

This is a prized collector or custom handgun where the gunsmith treats it by polishing the normally square and flat edges and dimensions to something resembling a blob of liquid metal or a well-worn bar of soap.  The reason is mainly cosmetic, but is the end result of request for further and further "melted" edges of the normally sharp Colt 1911 type guns for more comfortable concealed carry.

I'd hope to own one some day, but with prices in the $3000+ range, I usually find more pressing priorities to put my money into.  However, the amount of time involved in crafting the smooth and highly polished construction involves a ton of man hours of a skilled craftsman [attachment id=0 msg=566632]

So what do you guys think the chances of the bill for having Suppressors taken off the NFA list passing are?
I like Sigs too, picked up P226 MK25. I liked the fact that the internals where coated for corrosion resistant. Turned out it was a little bit to big for concealed carry, found a good deal on CPO P228.
I carry a M92F when I am working...not a big fan, just doesn't feel right

I really don't see that being 'given back' to the ppl.  Once rights are surrendered and allowed to become privilege, I don't see them ever being restored.   Not without *gasp* a force of arms.

Sort of how the American Revolution began.

ETA:  Being a realist, I can 'understand' that some would pay a tax to have certain items.  So that they don't run afoul of TPTB?  *shrug* Maybe, it's still a 'free' country.  Not shooting at you, Danny boy.  Every man should have his own reasons for why he does something.

Yeah, that's how family works.  We piss on each other but when Jerry comes to piss on one of us it's shoulder to shoulder, arm in arm and back to back.

Perhaps you should focus on just having a German Queen, instead of not having to speak German on account of us.
