But when it comes to mass shootings and DUIs in the U.S, I think the old white guys have other groups beat.

Not that you have an axe to grind though.  :D

He lives in the state that elected Al Franken.

Looks can be deceiving, but he doesn't look like the Al Franken type to me.

Who gives a shit about DUI's? Fuck, in the 70's you got a ticket if you WEREN'T drunk by 5:30 P.M. In other news his brother said of his dead brother: 'Once again, there is nothing. He went to college. He had a job.' How exactly does NOT GOING TO COLLEGE or  NOT HAVING A JOB indicate a higher propensity for violence? Don't answer that! It's because it's well known that it leads to having less money and that makes people pissed off! So the question is: Why do we setup a system like that? Because WE WANT VIOLENCE! WE MAKE MONEY OFF OF IT! That's why!

If College is what is required to have a shot at the middle class, then it must be made apart of public schooling and anyone over 21 must be grandfathered in! Simple! That is exactly what happened when we added the 11th and 12th Grade 100 years ago!

Swishypants

I'd also like to point out that before all this "everyone has to go to college" shit was normalized, THE COUNTRY WORKED BETTER, WAS RICHER, AND MORE INNOVATIVE! So much for the idea of everyone going to Marxist Brain Washing Institutions! It doesn't fucking WORK! FACT!

More Bullet Points from the Daily Mail:

New photos show Vegas shooter's dead body on the floor of his hotel room after he committed suicide
In the photo, Stephen Paddock wears a brown long-sleeved top, black slacks, loafers, and black gloves
Next to his body are two assault rifles with bi-pods; one has a 'bump stock', making it effectively full-auto
Dozens of spent shells litter the floor and in one corner magazines sit in neat stacks
A hammer is also seen, which Paddock presumably used to smash open two windows in his suite
It was from both of those vantage points that Paddock fired on a crowd of 22,000 attending a music festival
He killed at least 59 people and injured 527 in the attack - the deadliest in U.S. history
Video from outside the hotel room shows bullets piercing the front door, from when Paddock shot at cops
He set up a camera on a room service cart outside the room to warn him when police were arriving
By the time a SWAT team blew open the door to the suite, Paddock had shot himself dead
Investigators are struggling to find a reason for why the millionaire retiree carried out the massacre
He had no criminal record, and his brother says he wasn't religious or political
He did, however, like gambling and in the two weeks prior had carried out several large figure bets
In the week before he died, he also wired $100,000 to an account in his girlfriend's native Philippines
Girlfriend Marilou Danley is back to being a person of interest and is en route back to the U.S. for questioning
On Tuesday, Las Vegas authorities say they had identified all but three of the 59 victims

I was shocked to find out bump stocks are legal.  Perhaps there can be a law outlawing bump stocks.  I'll go along with that.

To wrap up my thoughts about this, I'm very surprised a mass shooting of this scope has never happened before.  It was bound to happen sooner or later.  Hopefully it will be another few hundred years before it happens again.

Thanks to social media, instant news and television, I would not be surprised to see a copy cat crime occur. Look at all the attention this POS is getting.

They have been around for a number of years, I recall seeing them back in 2012 but you don't need a bump stock to 'bump fire' a semi-auto rifle. Holding the rifle just right and applying the right amount of pressure against the trigger can produce the same effect. The 'bump stock' just makes it a little easier to do but not required. I remember bump-firing my Ruger mini-14 back in the mid 80's.

Some public shooting ranges will kick your hiney out for 'rapid firing', aka 'bump firing' your rifle but it's not illegal. In California, the state with the most restrictive gun laws, bump stocks are illegal to use but you can still own them.

Yeah,  I have to confess that I'm worried about that too.   The internet is partially responsible for acts of this kind.  People want their 15 minutes of fame and now it is easy to get it.  What are we going to do though?  Ban the internet?  Of course not.  This is the new reality we live in, for better or worse.

Regretfully I will hav to take the UNDER 100 years on this one,

What caught me a bit of a surprise the top 4 mass shooting happened in the last 10 years. Three of those four events happened in the last 5 year and we had "record breakers" in back to back years. We are in a real horrible pattern.

Now that's a depressing note to end the day

No one really buys bump stocks they are a novelty. The first bump stock was called the Atkins Accelerator had a spring in it to push the gun forward and the ATF ruled that the spring made the gun an automatic since it acted on the gun to push it forward. The ATF made everyone who bought the Atkins Accelerator send the springs back to the company. Then bump stocks came out with no spring in them there by making the guns trigger not automatic in the ATF's eyes.

Bump fire stocks can not be banned unless they push it though congress and thats never going to happen. Automatic fire is based on the guns trigger and sear not by the guns stock. All the a bump fire stock does it make you pull the trigger at a very fast rate it's still firing 1 bullet per pull of the trigger making so it's not full auto. People have made bump stocks out of pieces of PVC pipe so they didnt have to pay $200 for them when they came out. The ATF cant say that pulling a semi auto trigger really fast makes a gun a full auto it's never going to happen.

Bump fire stocks are gay but if they even attempt to ban them i will be fighting it till it dies. If we give anti's a stupid stock they will come for our standard capacity 30 round mags then semi autos then bolt actions. They never give up trying to take our rights and i will not fucking stand for it. The Liberal who did this did it as knowing this shit would happen he even used california neutered semi auto guns with thumb hole stocks just to get even more shit on a potential ban list.

Dyna-X

There probably are no solutions to prevent this kind of event that are not just political eyewash and/or exponentially increase costs and bureaucracy. More metal detectors, more cameras, logistical planning, Special Response Units, etc. They will likely try any and all of these and more and more shootings will occur.

In safety. no matter what facet of life or industry there seems to be some kind of odd persistent thought there can be some kind of immense improvement made by making thousands of costly regulations for a tiny percent of benefit, if any. At some point acceptable risk has to be embraced. Ultimately the best kinds of imrovements can't really be legislated, they come from improving the mental health of society. I think Hollywood and the media lost their way here 30 plus years ago. How do you legislate not selling out to produce gratuitous violence? Its impossible. Whats done is done.

I had to laugh when I saw the rifle he had the bump fire stock on... it had a scope on it.  LOL The scope would be useless firing full auto, which is all I heard for firing...  I never heard any single , aimed fire type shots.

What reform would you make in light of the events if you agree that no one should have access to a fully automatic weapon?  I would call a weapon an automatic if you could shoot at least a round per second as this guy did.

Full auto guns are already highly regulated.  Screw your opinion on what auto is.  It is already defined.

I'm not for most gun control but I don't think just anyone should have the right to be able to fire countless bullets in a short amount of time.  I'm ok with semi-automatics but I'm not ok with anything that sounds even vaguely like a machine gun.

yes but even with the bipod, look at the recoil...  a scope is pretty useless in full auto.

Lots of things are a surprise. Drive a hummer into a crowd, it has the clearance and power to not be slowed down. Or a bus. Or a semi truck. All could've reached that concert venue. Drive a truck full of explosives onto the Hoover dam. Take out the water and electrical for the entire southwest. There are plenty of other dams that are even more vulnerable. Look at Oroville and how close it was to totally failing. Smuggled chemical weapons or a nuke brought in in a container to any port. Take out a 5-30 mile radius, everything gone.

Just a few reasons why our noble saviors running to the mics for gun control while the bodies are still piling up is such a total crock. It's shows no sincerity and no imagination. Just puts the focus on the same ol same ol worthless solutions. Then we don't have to have a real discussion about the endless violence on the news, in entertainment, and video games. Or the psychotropic drugs that every mass shooter is on. Or the nonstop insanity people are exposed to on the internet.

The establishment doesn't care, it's all about creating the perception of caring. They lack ideas and solutions. And this problem is so much bigger than they can handle. So they can stay locked in their towers while we fend for ourselves. And that's why half the country will not be giving up their 2nd amendment rights anytime soon. No matter how many stupid speeches we have by ignorant 1%er comedians.

BUMP FIRING can be done with a piece of rope! It can't be outlawed unless you outlaw rope, string, metal rods, pens! LOL!

Ban 25 hour news channels that are radicalizing leftists to go out and punch people and kill them.

Nothing can be done without raping the rights of millions of Americans. It sucks but most mass shootings it's a liberal behind the gun they are mentally unstable people there should be a box on the ATF 4473 under the box that asks if you are mentally retarded that asks if you are a liberal and it should be an instant disqualification lol.

The more rules they make, the more it makes people want to break them! They are the architects of their own demise and they can't stop themselves. They will ban something. It will set some crazy off. It will happen again. There are too many guns to ban them. They can't win except by improving the economy and backing off and repealing laws and being very nice! They are not capable of it and so they will do what they do, and lose again.  The age of selling fear is over. They have to sell dreams again and they just can't do it!

I know.  Thing is with the left is if you give them an inch, they will want a mile.  I do think a person should at the very least have to take a class of some sort and get some sort of license to own anything that can cause such vast destruction in a short amount of time.

I expect nothing. If another mass shooting happened with the same death and injury toll every day for the next year, nothing would be done. Even if it was involving the family and friends of everyone on this forum. But I guarantee if it was the family of members of the Senate or Congress, things would change. Then it would be much much more than 'bad stuff'.
Quick reminder..

"House Majority Whip Steve Scalise (R-La.) was shot at a Republican congressional baseball practice Wednesday morning by a gunman who appeared to have targeted members of Congress..."
