Because Dietrich does not have a degree. He got his "ROTC" training attending college to join the Marines at age 21 (Thus the rank of PFC) So he was a "CONTRACT PFC" in boot-camp.

But he failed to become a US Marine! 83 days at San Diego MCRD and did NOT graduate!
