The New MacGyver - Pile of Excrement

MV/Liberace!

I started watching the first episode of the new MacGyver series, and couldn't finish it.  The main character looks smug and unsympathetic, the pacing is slow, and it's full of gaping technical holes/rubbish.

I didn't finish the episode.  I couldn't take any more.  This is the scene where I punched out:

Thoughts?

Set up a betting pool as to when it will be canceled?

I can tell from the advertisements of it alone that it will not get a second season.

But I was wrong about Madame Secretary, Hawaii 5-0, Two Broke Girls, Scorpion, et al.

Just tonight, saw an ad that a special HOUR LONG Two Broke Girls season premier will be airing.

I saw a few seconds of Survivor recently and wanted to shoot myself in the face.

I'm not sure what demographic I'm in, but I could mention many many more shows that defy explanation as to why they are still on the air.

If there is a GOD in this universe, the new T.D. Jakes show will be canceled no later than 2017.

It's like television execs are BLIND to what is happening in media.  Ad agencies KNOW what's going on, but still sell/push advertising TV commercial slots (and radio slots!) to companies as if it's 1967...  because the ad agencies have to make money.

I'm going to guess the new MacGyver cancellation will be announced in February.

To clean my mental palate after mentioning the above shows, I will hop onto a completely different device, environment, system, identity, and watch two or three episodes of Comedians In Cars Getting Coffee.

A simple yet brilliant series.

Since it's so horrible, I suspect it'll have a long, healthy life.

The original MacGyver was pretty cringy remember when he used chocolate bars to plug up leaking acid tanks?

Then other times it was awesome like the time he found a old CJ-5 in a barn and got it running and patched a leaking radiator with an egg and drove it down the railroad tracks on it's rims lol

It does look like a steaming pile of excrement.  I did not know that the original was known as anything different from what you just described.  I do remember the phrase "MacGyvering yourself out of a problem."  I also recall people saying that he only needed duct tape and chewing gum to escape any situation...

***Edit- according to the post above, a chocolate bar, an egg or an old jeep seem to work as well...

That 'hacking' scene gives NCIS a run for its money.

I've never seen NCIS, but I gather from other comments it's equally horrid?

There is a reason I don't have television...  two people typing on the same keyboard- and not a single producer or even actor to question how that works?

what?  is this a serious show?  or is it a comedy?  i know nothing about NCIS.

It's apparently serious. Old people love it.

Decent plot lines with a lot of comedic relief. I used to watch it but once Ziva broke my heart by getting written out of the show I gave up. Leroy Jethro Gibbs does a good job though.

Take with a grain of salt, but I wouldn't be surprised if this was the case:

What if the network hired PewDiePie to run commentary on MacGyver?  Then maybe the show could expand its outreach like ever-multiplying mathematical tentacles, brah?  The Mandelbrah Temple of Set of MacGyver, brah?

Axing for a fiend.

It's going to be like when Jorch took over from Art for C2C.  The show turned to absolute garbage and didn't last long.  And if that isn't enough evidence, look at how quickly "Friends" was thrown in the crapper.   Wait...

A new McGyver?  Fuck.  Nothing is sacred.

This is why I no longer subscribe to cable.

All you have to do is watch the series trailer to know it sucks.  I agree, he looks like a pompous ass, and the real Macgyver NEVER had a team.   It's like the mashed together Macgyver, A-Team and Captain Kirk and took the worst of everything.

One thing I have to say is that I've been watching the old series on Netflix, and both my son and daughter beg me to watch it.  I love shows that still have value generations on.

it would have been funnier if the creator didn't feel the need to spell it all out at the bottom.
