Just saw these babies down at the Food Lion.

Dammit of all the food I miss in SF, the one I crave pretty much *daily* is garlic bagels from Holey Bagel in Noe Valley.  I'm haunted by that crunchy garlic crust, the fresh doughy goodness, and their buttery old-fashioned natural cream cheese.  If the recipe is lost, they could reconstruct it molecule-for-molecule from that part of my brain which is now hardwired with the memory of its taste, texture, and aroma.

There's so much great food in SF. Where did you relocate?

A bailed north to Oregon, to join the other Cali refugees, but I blew it and didn't go far north enough to that other Foodie capital known as Portland.   :'(

I thought it was one of the hotbed sanctuary cities of Soros where people are currently losing their shit.  ???

Two places I miss since not living in Seattle anymore, PudgeBros Pizza, and RedMill Burgers.

I know, was just trying to stay on-topic. ;)  Btw they do have some great bakeries there.  I forget the name of one I went to, but not the flaky hint-of-orange cinnamon roll I had last time - so good it needs no icing.

Jagerschnitzel and German fried potatoes

Tula gingerbread, from Russia, has been made since the 17th century, is pressed in molds and often has jam in the middle.

It can be quite large

and comes in interesting shapes

It is dry, not very spicy, and not very sweet, but the jam helps.

Oh.  On 1st reading I thought it was tuna gingerbread.

So simple, so cool, so wonderful-- I wish Foremost Fairy Farms was still around to make Ice Cream Snowballs for Christmas.

Anyone every try Coppola wines? I've tried a few varieties now and I'll be damned if he doesn't make great wine as well as great movies.  ;)
