The owner of the file-sharing website KAT was indicted on Wednesday for copyright infringement in the United States for enabling the distribution of more than $1 billion US worth of movies, video games, music recordings and other content, U.S. justice officials said.

Artem Vaulin, 30, of Ukraine, was arrested in Poland and U.S. officials want him extradited to face charges that also included conspiracy to commit criminal copyright infringement and conspiracy to commit money laundering, according to attorneys for the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Illinois.

Interesting how Apple can give up this guys info, but wouldn't help authorities with a terrorist's phone.

It also shows that Apple handed over personal details of Vaulin after the investigator cross-referenced an IP-address used for an iTunes transaction with an IP-address that was used to login to KAT’s Facebook account.

“Records provided by Apple showed that tirm@me.com conducted an iTunes transaction using IP Address 109.86.226.203 on or about July 31, 2015. The same IP Address was used on the same day to login into the KAT Facebook,” the complaint reads.

If people use torrents they aren't paying for stuff on iTunes. Presumably terrorists pay for their iPhones. Its business.
