Believe it or not, I'm actually open to hearing about his wild, speculative theories and I did find some of his musings about the moon last night interesting but he's out of control now. He can't do a show that's not at least in some way about him and his thoughts. That's not an interviewer. It's a cult leader  :P

Isn't that what Art did?

Well, I'm not sure how much longer I can continue to listen to this show. It just keeps getting worse now with no signs of ever getting better. Hoagie refuses to back down from his growing egotism or take legitimate open line calls. By now most realize that his fake open lines consist of then same super-lame, sycophantic callers we're all, unfortunately, familiar with now. He refuses to learn anything about his technical setup and so keeps torturing his audience with the same bumbling technical problems: Constant tapping on his mic while he's talking; unable to mute and unmute microphones, often blaming his guests and callers for not doing it as if they had some control over HIS mixing board; and all the braaps of the extraneous noises and sounds that seem to occur whenever Dick does his show. It's clearly the Uncle Hoagie Show now and will just always be the same ego stroking where nothing new is ever revealed or discussed. If they move him to 9/12 it will surely be the final nail in the coffin of the DMDN.

Over the top much? I think the show's have been pretty good considering the poopstorm that has happened to deflate everything. He needs a new producer for sure-Anytime he brings "scotty" into the show I cringe and hope it stops soon. I think his confidence has been shaken and I am going to keep my subscription to OSOM but am likely to cancel MITD in January as Heather's show is boring and she lacks depth and experience in general and doesn't keep me interested. I have only managed to listen to one full show since Dec 11. I paid to listen to Art or at least, a professional and Heather is neither but seems like aa very nice person.

Where the hell are the other peeps?  There's only 4 of us carrying this thread and we really aren't that charming and capable.   ;D

wrapping gifts and fighting with aliens who have invaded our home and are now stealing cat food.....

Glad to be here-great replay RCH btw.  :-\

Oh? Wait a minute--didn't you have to ask to be allowed to post here? YOU made the pact. YOU ARE a BellGabber. That shit don't wash off. May God have mercy on your little cat soul.

Yes-I saw in the terms of agreement...for eternity.

Oh.  Hi dave.

Who is Dave? I joined this week in light of the drama and have only glanced at Bellgab a few times since Art mentioned it early on.

I joined Bellgab because I was floored with what happened last week. I am female and currently off work due to poor health. My husband introduced me to Art back in 1997 while he was doing midnight shift on patrol. Immediately I loved it and growing up in a "radio loving house"-it was always on here at 10pm for 14 years. I began listening nightly-through all of Art's life and work events, seldom missing a show.

In 2009, I  signed up for C2C and grew to despise Noory after years of listening to his stupid egomaniac persona which got worse over time. I couldn't take him anymore last year and ended my subscription. I was a member of RIC out of Sweden for 6 years but ended that because of the racist, faschist program of lies and propaganda it became-It was no longer cutting edge radio.

I was also a subscriber to Veritas Radio and Caravan to Midnight last year once dumping Noory for good.  C2M last 3 months because I found John B wells very different on his own show and it was largely rednecked; Christian and too right winged for my tastes. Veritas provides only one show per week although Mel Fergas is an excellent interviewer with a wide range of topics-but it was too expensive for what the show is-a weekly podcast. Last year I began listening to Capricorn radio podcasts and in the past have picked up Jeff Rense; Freeman; Richard Syrett as well.

I also knew Art would be back and waited with great enthusiasm. It was awesome to have the show back and I felt that the programming lacked at times but he was doing a great job and it was Art in his purest form. Since I haven't been sleeping well, I have also started Listening to OSOM-which I really enjoy due to the truly quirky nature of the show. Yes, there have been RCH issues-but that's OKay to me.

Since joining Bellgab, Heather Wade is not anyone I am familiar with here.  As a paying subscriber over the last week-I have been forced to listen to her and I don't have anything against Heather personally. But, for me she is a big disappointment as is DMDN and Art. Its been a gong show and not in a good way. She sounds stoned to me and clearly lacks life experience and radio broadcasting experience. However, she is trying her best and isn't terrible either. Please remember-I am just a listener and not really a Bellgabber. Its the thousands of other subscribers, advertisers and affiliates that have no context for Heather either.

I'm just glad that there was such a solid representation of the Canadian people at the start of the show ;)

As much as I don't read "fantasy" novels (or at least pretend I don't) The interview with the cosplay Dumbledore is one of my favorites. The guy has made what appears to be a comfortable living through woo. I have to admire that. When Dick's ears perked up at the mention of his church I had to laugh...oh Dick...it's not too late!  ;D

hahaha...oh yeah I love it all!! To me its like Kraft Dinner. I know I shouldn't eat it, but its so cheesy, comforting and good. He is so earnest and professional and there are some great interviews. But it is always for the entertainment and especially "the not knowing"  what will happen next. Its a classic.

"Why I Suck and Why Art Quits" by Jorch.  "Hey, they told me I could make some bucks off of it, folks."

Yup-that about sums him up  :P  I recoil at the sight of him.

I think Heather is doing a great job. The only complaint I have is: and uh. She seems to says this quite often, and uh, I find myself listening, and uh, waiting for, and uh, her to, and uh, say and uh.

She sounds to me like she is working on the shopping channel while smoking a joint.

Next time keep that in mind when you listen. She is not able to fill the chair, although she is giving it the ol' college try.

That was a good replay interview last night. I really enjoyed it.

It's unfortunate that all the crap with Art and his drama has effected RCH too. He was clearly sick and the drop out signal started on. The Canadian caller should have been railed in.

But its obvious that in the drama department-Art and RCH are two sides o the same coin. That's what we love about it all or there would be little here to continuously post about.

The sounds been cutting out here.

.....zzzz....

I am committed until January and I will decide then if I cancel both subscriptions or keep one. It depends on how this crazy train rides itself out. I don't mind supporting a project that gets better or maintains at least some part of what I liked on late night radio. But as a Canuck-its closer to $20./mth as things are with our sucky dollar that is sliding like DMRN into Mel's hole.

Why has there never been an acceptable alternative for..
Coffee?  Beer?
Stevie Wonder?
Chocolate chip cookies?
Mozart?  Beethoven?

Because when you define the very genre, you're irreplaceable.
I don't want to listen to some dipshit talking about paranormal shit,
I want to listen to my friend Art talk to crazy people.  It's not about the paranormal.
It's about Art Bell being a riveting radio host, entertainer, and interviewer.

Really well said. He is himself an individual, and that is what we liked. Its a unique contribution and a familiar voice and personality-who kept us intrigued and hopeful over many years and strange departures. Art has become a myth now. It wears thin when crap happens again and again. Placing a newbie in his spot without the personality and experience will not replace Art. There should be a contest for other up-in coming hopefuls because things as they are,  are not flying, at least for me.

The key words are I don't know. I don't know if the stalker was just trying to scare me or really hurt me, I don't know if the stalker would have moved to hurt me or my Family if scaring me failed to achieve whatever the goal was/is. I don't know if the threat is still there or leaving the air was the goal. I don't know if the Stalker will ever be caught (maybe if he brags to somebody) I don't know if it's over or if I ever will know unless he is stupid enough to come back again. I don't know who is in every car that drives up. (Many do just to stop out front and take pictures). That's a lot to not know and sleep well which I am not.

People who are not facing it say you have to have balls and not let the Terrorist's win until it's them or their Family's. However you might note that almost all the Hostage's Family's try and raise the money to get their loved ones back despite the Gov't policy of not dealing with them.

This stalker seemed to clearly be escalating his actions, I don't know what would or will come next. So much not to know.

Art

I understand trauma Art. My background is in the helping profession. So I recommend you and your family get help with this obvious trauma.

However, I still can't understand why you have left yourself and your family there, in the same place where the stalker may or may not return?  Yet, you felt scared and protective enough to just randomly "quit" the show after so much was invested.  It didn't change or solve the stalker situation.  Moving your family and yourself immediately from the premises if in danger, is how you protect yourself and your family. Quitting the show impulsively and randomly returning to the radio, while you stay in the same place doesn't in anyway make your family safer. In fact, it makes no sense and for that reason, people feel duped.  :-\

Replay?? Oh brother.

It seems DMRN is not thinking straight. Heather isn't going to get better and get more listeners committed to subscribe if Hoagland goes. There seems to be no plan and alot of sniveling and stupidity. I think both subs are going bye bye soon...

The show with the guy who had moved to Pahrump to be near Art was on Nov 27 open lines-last caller. He wasn't too nefarious sounding. I believe I was wrong and the creepy call was as an earlier show too-it was  disturbing-I don't remember when it was but yes, I merged the three creepy calls-as one memory.

Quote from: VoteQuimby on December 16, 2015, 12:28:11 PM
I don't think the "Moved to Pahrump to be closer to Art" guy is dangerous.

However there was a call awhile back with a caller saying he needed to talk to Art off the air because he had info for him. Art blew him off to which the guy started talking about landmarks near Art's house and where Art lives which sent Art into a rage. Art cut the call off there and was in a rage for the rest of that segment.

I'll try to track it down, I believe it was an early open lines and I believe it was talked about a bunch in the live thread. I think it was open lines because Art kept taking calls fuming about that caller for awhile and I think it was within the first two months of the show which means one of eight episodes.

I remember that incident too and I think the guy that said he had moved near Art was the same guy. I am looking/listening now.

Put a voice to the face.  Maybe it's the same dude who called in when the call turned creepy.  What's even more creepy is that he looks like he would sound like this.

https://youtu.be/hVG6gy_ylXQ

There was a creepier call than this, from a guy who said he puposely "Moved to Parhump to live near Art". He was very creepy and seemed to intentionally try to intimidate Art. The call was sometime in November-This guy just seems a little too lovey dovey but not too weird or malicious. The other caller creeped me out. I wish I remembered the date or show...
