I have no beef with heather at all. She simply does not belong in the seat of art bells successor.
according to some that post on this forum, Art Bell would not suffice as Art Bell's successor.
there is only 1 Art Bell, and your right heather aint him. nor are any of us him.
i think (Redacted) is doing a fine job and seems to improve nightly. therefore  i am keeping my TT sub .

stargazr1976

I will say. For shortwave it is cool to hear her. That particular bandwidth has become slim for anything other than brother stair. shortwave is dying. I dont like it but it is. Im just saying. Its not good biz. Its not good radio. Its fucking drama. I dont know who is right and who is wrong but none of it is good. Fights between forums isnt good. Art made the wrong choices. Keith made the wrong choices and this forum made the wrong choices.

stargazr1976

Glad to hear positive comments about Heather and the guest.
Can't wait to hear it later [work schedule].
Thanks

Several years ago, I came here to chat about Art Bell. Art is still my favorite host, but I've found that the worst show on the DMRN is still FAR superior to Dave.

I'm keeping my TT sub for Heather now. She seems to do a good job. However, 90% of her show will be driven by guests.

IMHO, I enjoy shows that aren't necessarily paranormal. Just get smart, interesting people and you will have a good show.

Coz

I like Heather from her posts here. She did a good job producing (apparently).

Personally do not care for her as a host. Maybe she'll grow on me over time.

Richard C isn't doing anything to help Heathers case - listen to his "free" podcast at at marker 00:46:25 and at 00:47:00 he says,

"If Keith can't move me to 9:00 (clears throat) because you know there's some deal with keeping Heather there for the next month...."

http://othersideofmidnight.com/free-episode-audio-open-hailing-frequencies-from-dec-16-2015/
and again at 01:01:21 -  he again is called by a "troll" bellgabber and generously offers to take over Art's guest list from Heather's hands...this "troll" is too much and Richard C is an arrogant ass!

On Skywatch radio or whatever it's called just before MITD last night they were all saying that Keith should just try out different hosts every night during that timeslot just to see who sounds best.  Plus it gives listeners a bit of a clue about who else is on the network.

It was a tech nightmare to get that done, plus Alexandre's music is unreleased.  After the show he told me I am the only person who has it so far.  Very kind of him to show me his work.  Great guy.  Again, heartfelt thanks to all of you.

It held my interest until I fell asleep. Wish I could have stayed awake, I had some questions about binaural beats and neural entrainment.

If they were to try that, it might be better to give hosts a couple shows so you can get a more accurate feel of how they deal with guests.

Heather has done well in this difficult situation. I was only able to listen for a little while last night, but I can't wait until I have some time to hear the whole show. Like any show, not all nights will be winners. This is especially true with new hosts. She's still getting used to the big chair and deserves a chance, though I do hope she loosens up a bit more and tries to make the show more of her own. I'll be listening!

Agreed. Some of Art's shows were great, others not so good. That is ok.

I agree with you wr250; I make it no secret that I support Heather (Redacted) 100%!  I've been thinking about all of this for many days now (as we all have) -- and my goodness, how many of us have had the opportunity that Heather has?  First to be able to interview Art, and then asked to be his producer.  Now that Art has a situation, he asked Heather to to help out, by keeping MITD going, while situations are figured out with him and the future of the network.

I am sure Heather is doing this out of loyalty to Art AND also to take a chance to do the show-hosting for 30 days.  Its a dream and an adventure come true ... why wouldn't she be up to the task of taking a risk?  I seriously don't believe that she thinks she will ever fill Art's seat/shoes etc ... but for goodness sakes, she is doing the best she can ... and growing with each day, what an experience to write about, to place on a resume and who really knows where this is going to go?
... If I were Heather (Redacted) -- this would be my song ... I'm sure she is feeling much like this -- these days!

Don't tell me not to live,
Just sit and putter,
Life's candy and the sun's
A ball of butter.
Don't bring around a cloud
To rain on my parade.
Don't tell me not to fly,
I've simply got to.
If someone takes a spill,
It's me and not you.
Who told you you're allowed
To rain on my parade!
I'll march my band out,
I'll beat my drum,
And if I'm fanned out,
Your turn at bat, sir.
At least I didn't fake it.
Hat, sir, I guess I didn't make it!
But whether I'm the rose
Of sheer perfection,
Or freckle on the nose
Of life's complexion,
The cinder or the shiny apple of its eye,
I gotta fly once,
I gotta try once,
Only can die once, right, sir?

Taking on a syndicated show from the best known night-time talk host... she's doing as well or better than most others who have no experience and are learning as they go. If people are expected brilliance, I'm sorry... this ain't it and it won't be Art Bell. And 100% honest, Art Bell during his two comebacks wasn't always on the ball either. A booming voice helps, but that's just one thing.

I listened for a while last night. I'm sure legacy radio broadcasters love / hate it.
Love: Heather's amateurish voice, meandering, dead air, and drops in confidence during the show.
Hate: That Heather is showing (like so many other podcasters have) that the level of actual talent needed to run a talk show isn't super high once you get some experience.

Give her time. If broadcast is what she really wants to do and is open to working on a few things, she will be solid. Stuff she could change tonight that would make a radical difference:

1. Voice... listen to yourself and develop a mature sounding voice. Do not continue to be Meagan McCain doing C2C. Speak from your chest, puff your hard letters and be confident. No more Valley Girl "yeaaa" or "alllllriiiight!" type stuff.

2. Energy... be excited. A trick: stand and be demonstrative during the broadcast. No one sees it, but it will come through in your voice. You are giving a monologue with a few thousand listeners... act like it in studio.

3. Inquire... your guests are YOUR GUESTS. It's your show and they are on at your pleasure. Ask tough questions and don't gush over them. They are humans just like you. Most folks on those shows are full of crap anyway.

Love & Luck!
