OK, it appears the site no longer has a PM system.  Reddit does, so PM me there:

I uploaded the Steve Wozniak interview show to YouTube.  I made this video 8 or 9 years ago and it eventually got taken down, so if you are interested you should watch/grab it now.

Thanks for not helping at all, slackers!  Just kidding.  Since I didn't hear from anyone about the missing shows, I decided to go ahead with the torrent.  There are 17 shows in all, 4 hosted by Mr. Bell, 12 hosted by Snorge (sorry) and one hosted by Kevin Mitnick himself (filling in for Art on one of his many vacation days).  His guest for the show is Steve Wozniak, which is great (the man is in manic storytelling mode).  Here's the link, share and enjoy:

Or if your ISP blocks the most resilient BitTorrent site in the galaxy, here's the direct magnet link to paste into your torrent client:

Radio and Podcasts / Kevin Mitnick shows torrent
July 14, 2020, 01:53:58 PM
I'm collecting all of the Bell Universe shows with Kevin Mitnick as guest (reformed hacker and author of several books, including his autobiography Ghost in the Wires which I just finished, great read).  Sometimes he was the main guest, others he is relegated to the first hour (most of these are from the 2000s with Snorge).

I've managed to snag a good number of these shows, but I am missing at least two that I am aware of.  If anyone can help me locate these, please hit me up. I plan on uploading a torrent when I'm finished. (Before anyone asks, they aren't in the Ultimate AB torrent, which I am aware of and contributed to, and they aren't on any links I could find at ArtBellArchives.com.)  I got these dates from the Coast website, but depending on the time zone they were recorded in sometimes the filenames can be off by one day.

Missing:

2002-10-22 Art Bell (also with Linda Moulton Howe)
2003-08-23 George Noory (First Hour)

Have:

2001-12-19 Art Bell (Full Show)
2003-02-03 George Noory (Full Show)
2004-02-10 George Noory (Full Show)
2004-06-18 George Noory (Full Show)
2005-03-26 Art Bell (Full Show)
2005-06-08 George Noory (First Hour)
2006-01-28 Art Bell (Full Show)
2006-04-30 Kevin Mitnick Filling in for Art with Guest Steve Wozniak (Full Show)
2006-07-06 George Noory (First Hour)
2008-02-11 George Noory (First Hour)
2010-11-30 George Noory (First Hour)
2011-08-23 George Noory (Full Show)
2013-07-25 George Noory (First Hour)
2015-10-08 Art Bell (Midnight in the Desert) (Full Show)
2017-02-27 George Noory (First Half)
2019-01-07 George Noory (First Half)
2019-10-30 George Noory (First Half)

Oh yeah, if anyone has any audio from the radio show Kevin hosted on KFI in the early 2000s called the Darkside of the Internet, PLEASE hit me up (I haven't been able to find a trace of this anywhere).  Yes, I checked the Internet Archive.  Thanks.

Anyone who wants Hoagie's Art tribute show with Howard Hughes, send me a PM (if you already have access to my Dropbox share it's in the folder "Art Bell Tributes").

I just uploaded Dave's tribute show from the 19th as well as the 13th show with the breaking news of Art's death to my Dropbox share.  They are in a new folder named "Art Bell Tributes".

All the shows on my Dropbox share are now divided into folders by year (including those in the original torrent). The 50 show per day download limit still stands, though. So please do not download complete folders unless they have 50 shows or less (some years have much more so you'll have to get those in chunks spread over days).

Please guys, don't be dicks and ruin the access we've been given to Devoidzero's collection.

Yeah guys, listen to Azzerae.   :D  If we make it through 24 hours without the link being suspended I think we'll be good since the bandwidth limit is reset daily.

I have added a new folder to the share named "Somewhere in Time (New Shows Not in Torrent)". There are over 300 shows that were re-broadcast on Coast since the original torrent was uploaded in 2014 that are not in the torrent. The audio is high quality. The same rules as above apply to this folder (ESPECIALLY this folder since the shows haven't been as widely circulated). Thanks.

OK, my Dropbox share is back and I have a new password protected link for you.  Before I give it out, a couple of ground rules so we don't eat up all my bandwidth and get my ability to share revoked by Dropbox again.

1.) Please do not give the link/password out to anyone else.

2.) Do not download large amounts of shows at once. I'm going to say limit your downloads to around 2 GB per day. Most shows are around 40 megabytes in size, so this works out to around 50 shows per day. Since most shows are 3 hours long without commercials, that is way more than anyone can listen to in a single day.

If we don't follow these rules, I'm going to have to take the link down. Here is the link (message me for the password):

For anyone who doesn't do torrents or is scared off by the sheer size of this beast, I have uploaded the entire Ultimate Collection to my Dropbox.  You can either play the shows directly from the site (streaming), download individual shows, or save them to your Dropbox (you have to have enough free space on your account to do this).

I know I contributed the Art of Talk audiobook to this torrent, and perhaps some shows from the early 2000s that weren't available on Streamlink (I used to record shows on VHS tapes and was a fairly early adopter of digital recording to MP3).  RIP Mr. Bell, and thanks for everything.

Well, it looks like we hit the daily sharing limit. That didn't take long. I've never had that happen on Dropbox, I guess I underestimated how popular the share would be. I'm going to try password protecting the folder and see if that helps. Anyone who wants the password, message me. You won't be able to access it until tomorrow. Sorry for the inconvenience.

Does anyone have any of Widespread's shows that aren't in the Ultimate torrent?  I definitely downloaded them back then but can't seem to locate them now, and the coast.willstare site is gone.

Is there a site with a list of OSOM shows and guest info other than the official site?  I'm going thru recordings and trying to find the guests for each night.  OSOM.com has a lot of holes in their show info, sometimes skipping nights that I know had live shows (i.e. it jumps from April 21st to May 3rd).  The old site seemed to be better about this.  Anyone?

Can't find the circle Ethernet clocks on the order page, but the regular rectangular Ethernet clocks start at $299 and go all the way up to $1000.  Yikes, he wasn't kidding about the prices.

Thanks for the info Dyna-X.  Very cool that he's used some of our suggestions.  I Shazam'd the instrumental and it's from the Cowboys and Aliens movie soundtrack.  The title is "Jake Lonergran" by the Hollywood Studio Symphony.  Here's the full piece on YouTube:

The man made him take his server down. I think everything he had was also in the Definitive torrent.

That's too bad.  One benefit of a cloud server is being able to add new files and keep it updated.  I don't mean MITD, but if for example Widespread got his hands on some more old tapes of shows that haven't been made available before, uploading them to a cloud server is super convenient.  Unlike a torrent which can't be changed or added to, and will eventually become out of date.  Ah well, it was good while it lasted.

Has Art used any of our suggestions from the Bumper Music thread?  It seems like he's simply been playing his old standbys from C2C in the '90s and early 2000s.  Not that there's anything wrong with that, but it would be cool if he changed it up a bit.  He did say he was going to listen to all our suggestions... maybe none of them made the cut?

Anyone know what happened to Gandalf50 and his cloud server?  His share has disappeared from my Copy.com account.  Tried emailing him two days ago, no response (he used to be very quick with replies).  His last post here was almost 2 years ago.  It would be a shame to lose such a great resource, anyone know what happened?

Complete show with LMH, all commercials, music and the newscasts at 44.1/16-bit wav leaves a 1.74gig file.  But it sounds wonderful.  For my own use only, of course.

It's also overkill and a huge waste of space.  DMDN only broadcasts at 48 kbps with a sample rate of 22 khz.  Recording at a higher bitrate/sample rate than the source simply inflates the file size, it can't add fidelity that isn't there in the source signal.

If you're going to record, the most sensible thing to do is use a program like streamWriter that captures the audio stream bit for bit.  It comes out to about 64 megabytes per show (including commercials and paranormal news).  That's the highest quality it's possible to get from the stream, and it's like 16 times smaller than your file.

My other gripe is that it appears that since it is a 'subscriber only' podcast, that there won't be a traditional RSS feed page so that I can use the device of my choice easily.  In this case, it's a Grace Digital Reciva internet radio.  I can't log in to my account with that device, so I can't listen on that radio, I suppose.  I don't know.  Any ideas?

A traditional RSS feed is actually possible with a subscriber only podcast.  For example, the Anthony Cumia Show podcast does this.  You can only get an RSS feed link if you are a subscriber.  It generates a unique link that can only be used once per subscriber (so it won't work for others).  Maybe something for Mr. Rowland to look into?

I'm on http://darkmatterdigitalnetwork.com/ but I don't see MiTD listed in the schedule on the right side. Do I just click the popup player tonight?

Yep, that's the ticket.  I'm sure the schedule will be updated soon.

Ah OK, I wasn't aware that TuneIn just pointed to DM.  So it doesn't really matter... I'll probably go with TuneIn for the better performance of the native app as opposed to using my phone's web browser to listen on DMDN.  Guess we'll find out about the timeout.  Thanks for the info.
