...what led up to that was GN's statement to Strieber ,

"There are a lot of people out there who could be right."

Oh for the love of.....! [throws radio through window] Noory brought up his genius (paraphrasing) "I said there were planets teeming with life before anyone else in world said it, and I was just a child!" crap again.  It must be the fifth time I've heard it.  Noory, NO ONE CARES about your self-ingratiating brain farts, regardless of your age. Maybe the child inside of him doesn't understand we don't yet have proof the universe is teeming with life.  We may very well be the only "advanced intelligence" within this entire universe.

Brother Guy the Jesuit: "Do you know what an electron is?"
Noory: "Yes"...
Guy went on to say that the notion of electrons as little silver balls was an image given that children could understand and kindly added, "we are all children".
Noory asked the question that has plagued him all his life, "Why?"
Guy said he was a scientist not a philosopher, and used the analogy of being given a gift by a friend - you can answer the question, "What is it?"  by opening the gift, then you know what it is for all time. But, "You'll never know why your friend liked you enough to give you the gift".
For all of Guy's patient explanations, gentle attempts at keeping the interview on track, and hopeful efforts of getting George off the dime, one thing's certain: Noory will again demand to know the reason for existence, continue to ask guests unanswerable questions to make him look deeper than he is, I suppose,  and time will tell if other guests will handle his childish bullying as well.

Morgus said,
In talking about modern music, Noory even claimed he was "hip" and Mumy was very skeptical of that claim, as he should be.
He could have easily exposed Noory's  musical fraud if he asked him a few simple questions about some classic rock artists...

Turn in your Hip card, Noory. You just blew it again.

...when some guest tells GN, "That's a loaded question",  he says "ALL of my questions are loaded."

Does that mean he thinks all of his questions are fraught with significance and carefully designed to stump the guests?

Anyway, when the show revolves around to the story about the big bird that picks up the boy in the backyard and would have carried him off if the mom hadn't swung into action with a broomstick, GN inevitably asks, "What do you think the bird would have done with him?"
or - "How would you feel if a gigantic bird picked up your child and carried him off?"

You should ask your own Mother that question, George, when she calls up to criticize your hosting style.

"It's nature's way, son."

If you count carefully, you will note that there are 31 stars on this flag. It was an historic flag, originally used by Commodore Matthew Perry, in 1853. The repairs enacted on the cloth necessitated that it be displayed in reverse. Perry was the captain who sailed into Tokyo bay, advising the Japanese to open their ports to American trade, nearly one hundred years prior to the Japanese surrender in WW II. MacArthur had nothing to do with it. Dietrich can't count.
#7
Dietrich made reference to this photo of Gen. Douglas MacArthur onboard the Missouri at the Japanese surrender ceremony.

That flag... Dietrich claimed MacArthur had it made special and brought by a courier for the proceedings.

36 stars (Dietrich claimed they were inverted and implied Satanist symbolism). Reversed field?
Is there an explanation for that little WTF?

Noory wants to mainstream the discussions back to the days when he was a youth reading the Frank Edwards Stranger Than Science books - collections of the weird reports in history without any mention of the relevant investigations available today or the alternative possibilities that might challenge his first impressions or his simple assertion that there's something out there.
If it's Out There, he's good with it but if it's related to further observation or requiring attention to what goes on between the ears (not out there) he's horrified by it.
He admitted last night that he never believed aliens and cryptids were from other dimentions - no, they're little green men in metal ships like the movies told you, or impossible as-yet-undiscovered species living in remote areas, George, and you really should give that dog you're walking more leash...

Then English guy Neil Arnold on strange creatures.  Arnold believes most of the weird things people see are in their heads, or perhaps apparitions, but George wasn't letting go of his "big bird" fetish.  "Could they be government drones made to look like birds to spy on us?" Just once I want to hear a guest give George a firm, unequivocal, topic ending "no."
- Valdez

...to this Arnold said that there's already enough mystery about these things (no need to clutter it up with imaginary musings).
Right. Back in The Day it seemed that at every late-night  bull session in the dorm there was a fool making embarrassing comments based on nothing at all...but nobody would have ever guessed that one day he'd be given his own talk show.

Gads...Noory ...he babbled away that when he sent that lousy prerecorded Dracula impersonation to Tommy, he got no response. Just silence. This puzzled him, since usually he gets some kind of response ("That's great, George") - but not this time, not even  from his own chief minion (Hahaha, he *ADDed happily) and what a clown he is.
Maybe the Coast staff is breaking ranks and sidling towards the exits.

Art knew how to sustain the eerie mood during Ghost to Ghost shows while GN was intent on breaking it after each caller with his offtopic bilgespeak. Somebody said he heard a recent chat where Noory actually said that he wasn't going to do Ghost to Ghost this year. "That was Art's thing", he said.
He got that right.

* ADD...get it?

Quote from: Morgus on November 02, 2011, 04:41:47 PM
Noory explained that fake dracula bit in the last hour was because he lost a bet with the guy and he had to play his pre-recorded dracula bit to fulfull the terms of the bet.
Leave it to Nitwit Noory to screw up ghost-to-ghost by sticking in his own junk from personal bet losses.
Its supposed to be for one night a year, no guests, no pre-recorded bits and stunts, no stories and chit-chat from Noory himself, just live real callers with their own ghost stories.  >:(

valdez said, "  I had also thought that Raymond Tarpy was just ignoring him.  I thought it was great."

So did I. It was beautiful - and for a moment  I was being entertained - at last...live radio as it could be.
Tarpy was  providing everything anybody wanted to know about crystal skulls, when Noory got nervous:
Who made them? he demanded several times, and when an answer wasn't forthcoming,
"Can you hear me?
Can you hear me? - and finally he was yelling his question (after turning the guest's volume completely off ) - as if he could overcome a troublesome  phone glitch by screaming . Maybe if he can shut him up for a second, HE would be heard - control would be restored.
But it was not to be.
Tarpy just kept droning on oblivious to the problem though, and Noory - beside himself by the sudden turn of events - saved his rapidly deteriorating sense of professionalism by jumping into the lifeboat of open lines.
GN said he has a great staff who will have to go deep to solve the  (recurring)  problem.

Physicists are clear when they say the mechanics of subatomic particles cannot be applied to matter (in the macro / physical world).
If you know different you can summarize how that's changed. Right?

Quote from: John Thomas on October 10, 2011, 04:53:37 AM
Yes. I'm saying that matter can travel faster than the speed of light. This has a lot to do with the principle of time travel. CERN will prove this and then get funding for some new equipment.

The new equipment will usher in a new age of Star Trek technology. Gene Roddenberry was visited by a guy named J.R. -- a member one of the projects. Gene was working with Navel Intelligence at the time.

I didn't catch that.  I blame George's lack of focus and summary.   At the start of the interview George told Whitley he was a "loved follower" of the show.  What does tha mean?  And in a sudden bust of convoluted hubris, George wondered "how many calamities can we handle back to back to back to back before we are truly in a mess?" Eh...seven?  Forty nine?  George also played footsie with psychic chics Rochelle Sparrow and Cortney Kane.  Richard C. Hoagland thinks the NWO's secret space program snatched that falling space junk out of the sky, and, in a segment that was way too short, good ol' former "Screensaver", Leo Laporte, talked about some gadget thing, or techie issue, something.

Laporte

GN said Strieber was a loved follower of Coast.
Strieber said, "Thank you"..then Strieber said (about his own style), "I let people tell their stories - I don't tell them what to think."
Like you do, George?
Was that a dig? The uneasy silence that followed says it was and that Noory got it.
Good.
To demote a former sometimes-host of C2C to "follower" status says that Noory can't bear to share the spotlight with anyone. The statement that he was loved was a left-handed compliment and even that was made begrudgingly.
When GN tags any reference to the great Art Bell he always makes sure to state that "That was a long time ago".
Well, George, if you're reading this, like last night, your knee-jerk references to old science fiction movies are never relevant to anything on duh sho, real or imaginary. And that was a very long time ago in a place that never existed, like Willowbee. Pick up your hind foot and take the next step.
Do something nice for somebody else for a change, Sucker.

Yes, I realize that is what the guest believes.  However, George has given the guest a platform and refuses to ask the hard questions as usual.  I think the only point where he might have cast some doubt on the guests claims was when he asked if a doctor might have been put in prison for NOT curing cancer rather than for curing it with a machine as his guest claimed.  When the doctor responded that everybody ever treated with the machine was cured Grorge just accepted it.

The doctor claims that another MD was put in prison for curing several people with apricot pits.  Later the doctor claims that the authorities will not prosecute him because they don't want a trial to cause the public release and publicity of the information he holds.  Back to critical thinking... how is it that the authorities will not prosecute him but will prosecute all of these other doctors who have cured cancer through the ages?

I'm sorry- but unless George were to give some honest warnings and point out that if salt water had cured hundreds of cases that word of mouth would make it spread.  Instead he played the sidekick to the doctor.  On a topic like this you are not allowed to be complacent in the spread of misinformation without being held accountable.  No, I'm sorry, but George does not get a pass for the use of his show as a vehicle for this information anymore than the doctor gets a pass just because he honestly believes what he says (provided that he actually does and that it is not just about profit.)

As we are engaging in critical thinking I would like to know if the doctor really believes that 17 "bodyguards" at his upcomming seminar would actually prevent his assissanition?  Would the NWO really wait for him in public?  If they are as powerful as the claims, would 17 armed men really stop them?  The doctor seemed to hint that the drug companies made an attempt on his life.  Apparently, in the guests world a hit man stops if the attempt was unsuccessful.  Did the man who made the attempt return the cheque to Bayer when he failed?

Had George even invited a "traditional" oncologist to be interviewed alongside this "doctor" it would be passable.  Using his show to spread propaganda unchallenged makes him complicit.

Actually, the doctor said that he was being targeted due to his speaking about "the Illuminati and 2012" at his upcoming seminar - he said it kind of fast, mumbled it really, just as GN was going to break.
I half-expected  this to be taken up after the break since Noory is always citing those 2 subjects out of context I'd think he would be interested since the subjects were brought up specifically  by a Noory-friendly guest.
But Coldwell might well be paranoid after his car was blown up - did that Illuminati / 2012 whistleblower comment give him The Fear?

Recently child psychologists have found that watching SpongeBob Squarepants leads to an inability to concentrate (ADD) among young children.

But what's hilarious is he took a call recently from a guy who said we needed to start spending on our infrastructure.......and of course, Snoory agreed.

Totally mallable, or just stupid? You decide.

1) GN doesn't question the assertions of guests because he can't think on his feet long enough (even though he paces during interviews) to figure out how to pose an intelligent question.
2)GN practices a twisted, fear-based version of the Golden Rule : "I don't want to ask any questions of my precious guests because I don't want them asking me anything that requires thinking."
3) His "system" requires asking questions from his 3x5 cards only. keep moving - maybe nobody will notice...dead air phobia.

Right. I heard the stuff isn't activated until heat is applied, as in cooking with it. Supposed to cool the cells via the bloodstream - relieve irritation especially around the heart.

At one point in the wild-eyed interview, Baker commented on the decision to shoot Bin-Laden rather than acquire an important intel asset regarding the truth about 911, even if waterboarding was needed to extract the information.

Fair enough. But then he made the claim that the Navy Seals who died when their Chinook helicopter was shot down later were the same ones who participated in the OBL take-down action. He implied that they were silenced.
Early news reports had it that they were not the same Seals in the helicopter crash.
I question Baker's claim to knowing this - how could he know, except by reading and believing internet scuttlebutt?

Welles didn't say a word to contradict the disinfo. In that way he's not ready to host C2C.

Noory said that when he was working for a radio station in Detroit, his producer wanted him to cover lighter subjects, but he said, "Nah, I wanna talk about murders" quoting the news reporters' maxim,
"If it bleeds it leads".
It sounded like he was bragging about his insider-savvy professionalism.
Someone on the staff must have noticed this slip (of the forked tongue?) because soon he was claiming that he was the one who wanted a kinder, more people-friendly approach to broadcasting, probably  agreeing with some bootlicking caller using effusive praise to get past the call-screener and be on the radio, by gum!
Two exactly opposite claims coming from the same mouth. If he had said he used to think that reporting the toxic side of news was the way to go but that now he's learned the error of his ways, I might have cut him some slack - but he didn't say that. He rewrote his own portrayal of himself.

Now I ask you...

This is the prophecy Hoagland was thinking of:

"Now they are talking about the sign for the Third Shaking of the Earth (first 2 were WWl and WWll). They said they're going to build what the elders called the house in the sky. In the 1950's they talked about this: they will build a house and throw it in the sky. When you see people living in the sky on a permanent basis, you will know the Great Spirit is about to grab the earth, this time not with one hand, but with both hands."

It's Native American - not sure about it being of Hopi origin, though.

When RCH spoke about some comets returning, Nooryface blurted,
"Like a CLOCK ?

yes George - exactly like a clock.
Round, moving and time-related.
he meant "like clockwork", but GN doesn't want to be like anyone else ( due to his anti-learning phobia )

so he says things his way and thinks it's oh so original of him.
Inaccurate to everybody else, and unnecessarily strange, but far be it from him to appease the haters.

George at the beach:

After spending all day walking along the beach, he realized to his dismay that none of the ladies were looking at him. So he asked another guy for advice.
"Well, some guys that have had that problem solved it in this way. Get a potato and jam in down inside  your swimsuit. I guarantee you'll get noticed then."

George did as he was told, but now as he strolled on the beach, the girls all just giggled when he walked past smiling at them.

"I don't get it", he said to his friend the next time he saw him. "I put that potato in my swimsuit and the women just laughed at me! What am I doing wrong?"

"Well", his friend said, "...most guys put the potato down the front of their swimsuit".

Unforunately, Hawaii is a yearly business trip for me (and it is vastly, vastly overrated). Sad to say, but Hilo has followed the rest of Hawaii in the slow march to overpopulation.  Still way behind Honolulu, but you see signs of big problems in the future.

I can imagine George finding a niche there, somewhere between the city folk that would make fun of him mercilessly and the rural types who wouldn't know him from the local exterminator.  He could be found trolling the beaches, proudly wearing his colorful "I'm the guy on the radio." t-shirt.  By night, he breaks out the corduroy blazer and takes his irresistable game to the old folks casinos.

That's the version of the story he tells himself (and repeats as needed) but what I see is this:
He managed a date for dinner with a beautiful woman. She disagreed with him about dogs after he brought up the subject thinking, "all girls like animals" to score points (or just to score). Confronted with a female who let him know that she wasn't about to acquiesce to his maneuver (a hater), he got scared and ran. Now he has to keep justifying that awkward moment of truth by repeating the revised version whenever something reminds him of it.
She probably liked dogs, but resented being manipulated.

Quote from: Paper*Boy on August 20, 2011, 08:05:54 PM

Did he tell that story like it just happened recently?  He's told that one a few times over the years.  It still sounds made up.

Interesting the story comes up again just as this thread is discussing his creepy comments about animals.  I thought he said he is no longer paying attention to critical internet commentary.

Jeff Warrick and Eldon Taylor (on separately) on subliminal messages.  By the numbers Noory, with a few points of interest:

     1.  George says to Warrick, "a lot of people claim to have seen subliminal messages in music, is it true?"  Lets ignore the "seen" part (we're talking about music), anybody over the age of twelve knows this to be true.  George knows it.  Why not go right into it?  It makes him seem like an idiot.  Like those promos for gold that he does. "What is gold?"
     2.  Right after a caller says that he freezed framed a show and found a message in it, George, using a technique that he has truly mastered, called the "ask a question that has just been answered, like you just thought about it yourself" routine, asked Warrick, "can you freeze frame something and find a message?"
     3.  He was talking to Taylor, and I'm driving around when the show is on so maybe I was distracted and missed something, and George tells Taylor, "please watch your language when you're on the show.  It throws off my whole scheme."  I didn't hear Taylor say anything bad.  I think it was cut out.  "Scheme?"  Maybe he said "theme."  It was right before the end of the third hour.  Who knows....

Punnett can be unnecessarily verbose, pretentious, self-aggrandizing egotistical self-involved and elitist but I had to fastblast him when he pronounced Lima (Ohio) like he was talking about LEE-MA , Peru.

Here, Lima is pronounced  like the simple Lima bean  (or "Slima" as the haters are wont to say).

But it didn't help. He still thinks rural Ohioans speak with a Spanish accent.
Oh well.

Cultural IQ - May 8, Anagrammyism:
We know that Noory is uneducated and lacking in cultural IQ.  Why not ask questions which bring that out?  If he is in charge of the kill switch, he won't even get it.

I'd have to say Noory interprets anything that doesn't fit the script that he promotes so arduously as detrimental to The Cause - as can be seen every time he caps off some caller's remarks with his own idea. He's trying to interview himself it seems. He never asks questions - he only incredulously repeats what the caller said. This implies disbelief rather than the possibility that there is something he doesn't know already.
Wait, he does ask "Why?" a lot.
The other night -
"Why are people facinated by the Pyramids?"

...The obvious answer (because they're one of the 7 Wonders of the World) even GN has to get, but I had the idea that this question was asked in the spirit of, subconsciously,
"Why are people interested in ancient artifacts of unknown origin when they could be talking about subjects I liked when I was ten years old?"

It's said that whatever you hide from others you will also hide from yourself, and whatever you hide from yourself can control you without your being aware of it.

How a prank caller could contribute to Open Lines without bursting out laughing is the thing.
Quote from: BobGrau on June 14, 2011, 04:49:38 PM
I've never heard the phrase 'cultural IQ' before, in this thread or elsewhere, but it's one I'll take note of in future.

I've often thought of calling in for open lines, they don't get many uk callers so I'd probably get on. Does anyone know if they charge for international calls?

last night's show
Noory:
"If these giant birds exist, how many are there?
Guest:
"That's a good question..."

If that's a good question, then I'm fucked up. About an hour into this, I'm talking to the radio.
"Go to a caller, Noory - this guest is tapped-out."
An hour later, a caller said he saw what he thought was a man in a trenchcoat (while driving late at night).
"It was a huge bird, tearing chunks out of a dead deer, when I got closer, it flew away carrying half the carcass with it."
Noory and guest were enthralled. Why? - because truth has a ring to it that idle speculation does not.
Maybe the caller was a good storyteller, but it sounded plausible - the creature would have to lighten the load before it could carry it off.
Ironic that callers are better at radio than paid hosts and their guests.
Creepy that Noory would speculate more than once on his sick notion of children being carried away by monster birds.

who are the pro noory sites?  the only one i knew of was the night hawk zone, but i thought that was taken down for whatever reason.
NHZ was another register-to-read site. At the end, as was explained by a former member, a difference of opinion arose between the owner and some of the posters about content; Apparently the owner wanted to discuss the issues raised on-air (and echoed the statements made by guests in his posts for godzakes) while the regulars wanted to chat about other things during the show. Eventually the regulars got fed up (about 30 of them) and left en masse before having a new board set up. NHZ was closed suddenly, and an attempt was made to provide a haven for the newly-displaced by 2 women from the old  forum. Then new forum was hurredly announced but it had so many glitches and a few negative posts that it, too ,went down. Not worth the aggravation censoring the posts everyday by the mods. Some of the refugees were invited (and came to) Into Infinity.
Now, as to being a Noory fansite, it isn't. The policy there is No Flaming, and No Partisan Politics which makes the place more conversational with fewer bumps - except those provided by GN's impulsive, public  ejaculations - but they're generally Noory-tolerant over there for the sake of avoiding repetitive observations, I suppose.
After all, if the guests provide interesting insights from time to time, isn't that all that today's Coast listeners, assorted vampires, and sleep-deprived insomniacs can hope for?
