I had no idea... It kind of looked like it would be fun- but I had never seen one. I watched the commercial on youtube before seeing the headline of the press release. I assumed that it hit a kid on the head. But no... He drowned.  :o

"April 13th 1978. Wham-O Manufacturing Co., San Gabriel, Calif., in cooperation with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission, today announced it is voluntarily stopping sale and recalling its "Water Wiggle" toy. Approximately 2 1/2 million of these toys have been sold throughout the United States over the past 17 years.

Wham-O stated that the recall is occasioned by the death of a four-year-old child in March 1978. The youngster was playing with some other children in his backyard with a dismantled "Water Wiggle," one from which the bell-shaped head had been removed or had come off. The exposed aluminum nozzle became lodged in his mouth and he drowned. "

So THAT'S what happened to it!

At least I still have my trusty lawn darts for the grands to play with when they visit. :)

You mean that you did not not know anybody who drowned on a garden hose attachment when you were younger?

On a side note, there is now a place (I think out of Britain) selling "lawn dart pieces." Yes, you can buy a package to make lawn darts. Yes, parts (not the actual darts) are legal to import. But I seem to recall that they are pricey.*

*I just looked them up. It appears that you could buy them in "parts" until July 15th 2020. And then they became "aware" that Canadian and US authorities don't like "parts" coming into the country. So... You can still (apparently) use them in the communist EU, but not in the "land of the free..." https://www.crowndarts.com/

The hobo elitists
up to their shenannigans again.

I wager that a good many were Communists, I understand that was also en vogue among The People back then...

"...reverted back..." I thought there had been a de-evolution of Editorial Progress from then to today, perhaps that came from a Late Edition run and there wasn't adequate thyme for proof-reading...

After I complete my Thyme Masheen, I will be sure to send JaxTar on a mission to correct thus.

I'm already back. MISSION (DIPLOMATIC IMMUNITY). They said I looked different without the halo, but I couldn't bring it through the trash compactors on any level, detention or otherwise; Empire policy. I don't mind, I've had it so long I hardly ever think about it anyway. (At first, I was stoked: I thought it was gonna work as a nighttime reading lamp, but no, not really. Not at all. Weak.)

I can't really talk about it, but I think we're all just waiting on the banner to get back from the printer. Bruce is the best in the biz; I am sure it will be lovely.

"30% of my patrons are of what used to be the sterner sex." So a little lipstick, rouge and corset and suddenly they are not male. This is very prejudicial, and I demand that she be cancelled and her business closed.  >:(

Absolutely brilliant. Expose women to radiation in the form of X-Rays and claim it is good for them. And then probably charge a high price for the increased risk of cancer...

*I get that it was new, and they didn't understand all of the possible side effects. I'll leave it to others to draw parallels with modern doctors, 100 years later...  ;)

If we learned one thing from SciFi movies and comic books it’s that being exposed to radiation will most likey result in either gigantism, the manifestation of superpowers or a combination of the two.
