That's the problem here: HW's a creampuff interviewing on subjects like this, because she can't help but want to relate her own similar but even better story.

Reminds of the conclusion of the movie of One Touch of Venus, which scene I understand was not in the play it came from.  The patient has been relating to his psychiatrist the patient's experience with a woman's statue he awakened.  The psychiatrist explains that things like this are a common phenomenon with people about to get married, and then he begins to tell, but doesn't actually tell, a story of an experience he'd had with a lady who could actually skate on thin air.  It's a hilarious coda & subversion of the story that says to the audience, "You've been wasting your time watching this, when I could've told you a better one."
