Art Bell cancels show for good

I think someone should call or email the Pahrump police department. Let's see a written response.

After his last facebook post I really believe art will be coming back when things die down and that Heather is essentially the Hilly Rose keeping the show going while Art handles his affairs. I'm gonna keep my subscription because I think he's coming back, even if its once a month or once every six months, that's still more Art then we had before.

My 6 pennies about the best listener and intelligent questioner in talk show radio:

1.  I was both instantly worried and shocked Day One with something that seemed very auspicious.  Practically the first words I heard were "Alan Greenspan' as Art's first advertiser - implying being 'supported' by one of America's worst NWO crooks and morons who's extreme corruption and Federal Reserve manipulation for years did untold damage to everyone not rich in America - the least representative advertiser for a show supposedly dedicated to openmindedness and truth.

2.  Art's audience didn't stop listening to a vast array of cutting edge people the last 10 years and got a LOT more educated and sophisticated... and Art sounded like he picked up where he left off.  Maybe half his guests so far were intriguing and at or near the current cutting edge, and the other half were boring as hell and snoory caliber stupid ghost, esp, ufo or mainstream propagandist story purveyors. After lots of initial enthusiasm I stopped even remembering to see who was going to be on or that it was 9pm.  There are hordes of more interesting guests and intriguing topics, but at least Sean David Morten didn't come back and many other lowlifes.

3.  I think it was a big mistake to have such tightly locked doors out of the box and not make replays available for free for some amount of time until awareness/interest/momentum spread around the world thru youtube.

4.  I have nothing against good female announcers, but the extremely grating nail on chalkboard amateur female announcer voices over and over and over could not have helped night after night.  I found myself running to quick kill the sound when the news, commercial tags or full commercials with any of the them came on.  There's a huge difference between unusual radio voices chosen for memorable character... and drawl-y, torturous monotone that could make roaches commit suicide.

5.  Back to the NWO. Again picking up where he left off 10 years later....Art made various asides indicating that he still steadfastly bought the govt. 9-11 story, was still pretending to buy face value mainstream stories and/or just avoided guests who dealt with these current issues that contained so many of the 'alternative' tentacles of black ops now common to alternative radio.  Again, it's all stuff his audience is now much more educated about and it makes him look either like a player to be so intelligent and therefore pretending to be in denial or oddly suddenly stupid.

6.  All adding up to... I suspect the show/network was a lot of work, was losing money and the prospect of going to profitability too bleak looking.  I think he's concocted this threat and excuse for quitting to save face.  If so, too bad it's likely going to hurt him even more to have added unnecessary disgrace.   I agree with all the people here who have pointed out many other valid observations and ignored solutions if the 'threat' was really the issue that I think were well said.

Thank you in advance for the usual adolescent and/or intelligent Bellgab slamming of me to come but I respect and appreciate the true free speech here more.

That for me was the reason I couldnt listen anymore. I am still a time traveller and i have not downloaded a show in three weeks because i cant always hit the volume to lower it fast enough when that voice comes on.

I was so happy when the first news guy left and never dreamed they would find a worse one. For someone of arts caliber who demands the best he can get audio wise I was and still am baffled he would allow that kind of audio garbage to destroy an otherwise great show. I can only surmise that when he says he never listens to his own shows after he does them, he really means it.

I only ask that someone who archives and saves the new run on a torrent eventually does everyone a favour and cuts that news garbage out of it.

I cant be the only one who could no longer stand to hear it.

The man and his family were being harassed. He ended his participation in the show. Even if it's bullshit (and I think it isn't) it's his right to do what he pleases.

What is revealing a police report (or lack thereof) going to accomplish beyond validating that some fucktard is trying to annoy a man and his family? It's not going to bring the show back.

If he does come back even for fill-in duty, that would be great. Regardless, I'm giving Heather a shot. Last night was a very difficult show but it got her some experience and exposure. It's something to build on.

I don't see why its more likely that its a ruse then its real. When you have millions of listeners over the years and have essentially given your home location out on the air (or close enough) you don't think there are some crazy people out there willing to stalk you?

I am sorry to have to announce this but I will not be on Tonight or any other night, yes I am going to hang it up. ...

I'm impressed with Heather.  I'm not canceling anything just yet.  I'm
also impressed with the real possibility that Art could continue to
participate the way he did Friday night - with Skype or on the phone,
from where ever he may find it convenient.  (Other talk show hosts do
this.)  That would resolve this so far as I'm concerned.  It would not
encourage any stalker who might see Art walking to his studio building.
The daughter would not have a reason to be upset - - if it's just a
matter of Daddy being on the phone (or Skype) from their residence.

There has been some mention recently about the addition of KLIF-570 in
Dallas (and their HD2 station).  When KLIF-1190 was owned by Gordon
McLendon, they had a 'showcase studio' in Downtown Dallas (2120 Commerce
St.).  There were crazies who drove by and fired shots at the glass.
So the station installed bullet proof glass.  They did not go off the
air.  People who worked there showed me digs in the glass.

There is also the chance that the person causing this problem may be
apprehended, as a result of professional police work.  A man who held me
up with a gun is now enjoying 20 years in the pen, also as a result of
good police work.  There's been no further trouble from him for me or
anyone.

If someone is really stalking Art Bell, it's likely they won't stop even
if the radio show ends forever.  Security precautions are in order -
either way.  From reports, I understand Art and his family have been
through some crazy harassment in the past, where Art prevailed.

'I think Heather did a amazing job given the short notice, connection problems and a Guest who was tough. She will return Monday with a great Guest and I think those of you who are considering cancelling should give her a couple of more days before deciding. In my view she has one of the more pleasant voices on Radio!

On another note it may be that after some time if you stick with it I may be able to show up now and then. While I understand I could have some Guard out there it is not a road I care to go down again, I did that Years ago and hated it for the same reason anybody who has ever been under Guard would easily understand, it's really intrusive.

I was prepared to go on, threat or not but after a sit down with my Wife about what life has been like since all this started for her and most of all Asia, it just seemed selfish of me to keep doing it so I could have fun under current circumstances. I also want to say the Sheriff's office has been doing a wonderful job, they have a big valley to protect.

Yes- knowing the whole truth would have some value. It's possible that the police are complying with Art's request to keep things quiet. The truth will come out but I'm not so sure if all the evidence is out there yet.

I've checked with the Pahrump Valley News and learned that they inquired with the Nye Co. Sherriff following the earlier shooter report, and the Sheriff's Dept. had no record of it.  More to come.

I propose that MV change the name to BellGab.

If one quits a fast-growing internet-radio show at the cusp of greater success because of a crazed shooter / intruder who is traumatizing you and your family, especially your daughter, does it make sense to put a photo of her, front and center, with a smiling Art Bell, on ArtBell.com?
