Wait until he leaves office.  He'll be pardoning lots of turkeys.

In this character Obama's defense this was announced a week ago or so (I think I even posted it.) And certainly they have done great service to the country tribe and fundraising/propaganda for Barak.

The right blaming Obama for being weak, much deserved...now Obama actually blames Russia, do they support? No, He's "pointing fingers"...LOL

Politics of contrarianism...LOL  It all seems such a joke...

Obama could care less about Russian actions except for his pet issue of the supposed bad treatment/laws against homosexuals and now their actions against Muslim radicals. You will recall that Obama's animosity towards Russia started far before Crimea, or them bombing rebels and other Muslim radicals, but was due to the homosexual issue. I think Obama even sent some homosexuals to the Olympic ceremonies to protest it. I understand that some (many?) on the right want to start a new Cold War (lotsa profits) and I'm not saying Putin is a 'good guy' but so? And Brzezinski/Kissinger types always thinking ways to hedge Russia etc. But there are lots of bad guys out there, without nukes, we could go after. And if concerns about Russia real why the missile defense stuff and Obama giving them a misspelled reset button?  Hell, if leadership was actually concerned with our security we could, maybe, defend OUR border? As a start?

I don't think Obama has been weak on this. I certainly don't know all the facts but I did catch Obama on TV saying Turkey has the right to defend their air space which to me sounded like a very strong anti-Russian statement but again I don't know all the details with this situation.

Honestly what more can or should Obama be saying other than "Well that sucks" in this situation?

I think there's a lot more to this story than we're being told. Especially with the American pilots saying they could hear repeated Turkish warnings to the Russian pilots over all the radio frequencies including the emergency frequency all planes have.

"A U.S. military spokesman confirmed that Turkish pilots issued 10 notifications to their Russian counterparts warning that they were in Turkish airspace and that the Russians did not respond. "
But Russians have been flying damn near, if not in, other NATO air space for a time in other regions and we haven't shot them down. I also wonder, conspiracy ha, if the fighters had stuff programmed off ala Dr.Strangelove? In any event, if true, it was a minor fly-over of a disputed border to bomb Muslim radicals, who, in turn, apparently, used Obama supplied weapons. The madness should end and since we don't have the will (Obama and Hollande had a meeting and presser in which more "refugees" to our countries was a solution) let the Russians, Assad, and Kurds deal with ISIS/ISIL/SI, I say.

They're amazing in action; a deadly ballet dancer of an aircraft.  I almost think an A-10 can turn inside a crop duster.

They also have that amazing ability to persevere for a couple of decades in the face of relentless, nonsensical campaigns to replace them just because they're keeping billions out of the pockets of some big military/industrial complex players. The bastards. The people who have to do the fighting love them, and swear by them, and that's all that should matter.

I have never understood the campaign against the A-10s. They are utterly the perfect aircraft for their role, they're cheap and they have continually proved themselves in every conflict since their creation.

They're telling me the piece of shit F-35 is going to do the A-10s job?

+1, it makes no sense to me either. The psychological warfare aspect alone makes it worth keeping it around.

Actually, Michael Horn and George had quite the pucker party on C2C last night. In addition to attempting to jam the square peg of Billy Meier's 1981 prediction into any round hole that would accommodate it, MH gave GN the vapors by claiming Meier's space people told him that Russia is going to invade the U.S. unless we add 309,000 troops to our military.

I just spat my coffee out! The twat is as deluded as they come.

They fly close to Sweden, Norway and the UK without being shot down too. The difference is we don't have a major air and ground  offensive going on a few miles away. It would be a very different story if there was. At the moment Russian crews just get to look and photograph the live underwing AA stores of Typhoons.

New systems like F-35 attract DoD and contractor groupies who hope to ride programs as career and revenue vehicles.  Its part of their task to push for termination of mature and proven systems to free up $$ for their program. Tens of thousands depend on F-35 for their jobs; A-10, maybe a couple hundred if that. Money talks.

Russia's now deploying s.o.t.a. S-400 SAM batteries having 250-mile range to Syria.  Since coalition aircraft have no legal basis to enter sovereign Syrian airspace, this may be an interesting development.

I heard Rep. Brad Sherman say this morning that he's been told by DoD sources that the the Su-24 was in Turkish airspace for less than 9 seconds.

Doesn`t matter if it was one second. The Russians do this shit all the time and get away with it. That day, they didnt.

But never fear; I have little doubt a high ranking Turkish govt. official will soon come down with radiation poisoning.

Islamist Erdogan flames a Russian jet for a 9-second technical encroachment then runs behind NATO's skirts, but he can't find the hundreds of trucks smuggling ISIS oil into Turkey nightly for a year.  He's playing both sides of the fence and gets away it because, unlike any other tinhorn Islamist, he can play the NATO card.

Turkey has always been a pain in the ass. It`s just really nice to see them wax a filthy Russian. Hell, I`ll even throw out an Allahu Akbar on that! 8)

You shouldn't hold back.  Tell us how you really feel.

In the news, there's reports the second missing Russian pilot has been rescued and he's okay. Russia is claiming their plane never left Syrian air space which makes the repeated warning American pilots claim to have heard... interesting. I doubt we'll get the real story on this as it'll be swept under the rug.

In all seriously, I'm glad second Russian pilot is okay.

I'm pretty amused the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation has a Facebook page.

If the Russian nav systems were off by 1 km, it would let them overfly that little spit of Turkey that extends into Syria.  But that's not likely.  The odds of the Turk F-16s launching at the exact moment the Su was over that spot are insane.  The precision involved in the timing says it was an ambush.  As for the real story, the USAF has every detail down to the sound of the Russians' a-holes puckering when their sensors lit up, but they're barely dribbling out them out.  I've heard and read that international convention requires a visual wave off except if threatened.  Didn't happen and there was no threat.  We used to be able to trust Turkey, but not under this Islamist Ergodan.  I don't know why the right is so eager to back that SOB.

Yep; that's usually what happens. That's to avoid incidents that have happened. If the RAF had twatted every Soviet/Russian aircraft that got too nosey around our coast in the last 50 years, the North Sea/ Atlantic would be littered with Russian aircraft and their crews.

Wow, I guess this year in Russia Turkey stuff you for thanksgiving.

You shouldn't believe anything that comes from a Russian's mouth. The Russian pilots were sent numerous warnings which were heard by virtually everyone in the entire region. They had NO business being where they were at.

I'm certainly no fan of the Turks, but compared to Russians, they come out pretty well.

I'm sure you'd take the same attitude if it had been a USAF jet that had been taken down...

Have you heard the now released Turk radio warnings?  I did;"You are approaching Turkish airspace; change your heading south immediately"...hardly a warning in extremis.    I'd bet the Turks have had F-16s patrolling that area every day waiting to ambush any Ivan who clipped that narrow neck of land extending into Syria.

It's  the same warning everybody gets. Standard warning. Dismiss it at your peril. And I have absolutely no doubt that these guys received all the warnings....and chose to ignore them. True, the Turks were operating with bad intentions as there certainly is no love lost between the two parties. But, Turkey was perfectly within their rights to take the Russian down. ESPECIALLY considering what they were most likely up to -- it wasn't bombing ISIS.
