20150805 - Flat Earth Debate - Live Chat Thread

Lt.Uhura

Denial is pandemic these days, evident everywhere.  Research, evidence, knowledge, technology has done nothing to stem the creeping spread of denial.  We're doomed.

Next up:  Michio Kaku will debate a man yelling at a light post in front of an abandoned Burger King.

OMG! I cannot stop laughing.

Rare picture of John and the brain slug that quickly died of starvation. Poor brain slug.

I have to agree, I'm loving this  8)

Surely these guests were already booked when Red came aboard.. Art said he was booked a month out long before she came on..

Why didn't he get Eric Dubay on at least he doesn't hide his name. But I guess this was to disparage the ideas only as a show, it maybe not a debate but anonymous  vs a scientist.....there maybe people that will go on record. For all we know this guy doesn't really believe his skepticism, he maybe just put in place to "represent" the skeptics view, there maybe plenty of people that could do a better job that hold many degrees...so long as they could remain anonymous as well.

I'm a short(ish) Eskimo in Alaska.  ::) No Nazi though..

I appologize dear. No offense to your fine people was intended . :)

Art must be in on the joke.  He is far too quiet.

LadyFish

I think the professor would be a great guest by himself.

Since we're so out on the fringe tonight, here's something I've always wondered..

If you're in a car travelling at the speed of light and turn your headlights on, what happens?

Logged in just to answer this. I was a physics major. Speed of light is constant from any reference frame. So if you turned on your lights at any speed, 10mph, 0.5C 0.999C, the light would leave at the speed of light. Light doesn't follow galilean relativity, as Jon understands is with with airplane question.

BTW the Dr is dead on with all his rebuttals. This is a train wreck, I'm not getting any work done.

So does John think we're all just wrong or is this a long time global conspiracy?

Probably desperatly trying to figure out a way to save the rest of this show.
I really feel sorry for Art right now.. This idea of a debate sounded good on paper, but it just does not work with a stubborn narrowminded guest like this.
