GNS used to be an amusing thread back in the day, but it trickled off after Art's last comeback, and never really came back.  My problem is I just don't have it in me to go after Noory anymore.  No matter how much I ranted the guy just kept going and going.  That wily fox friggin outlasted my caring at all about it.

Funny you mention it.  That thread was great, then Art did DM.  I could no longer really listen to Noory, even though it afforded me hours of enjoyment on the GNS thread.  I would stop in, occasionally.  Then Art did MITD, and I rarely post or read that thread anymore.


I would imagine it is great for new posters who arrive and want to rant and decompress- but I'm done.  Dave sucks- but I just don't care anymore.

LOL the one i am looking at is suspiciously similar to the notorious TI-30.

It had a nice little exponent function for when there were to many digits to display. It would display  ' E ' and then the exponent.
The screen was 10 digits long IIRC.

Used to have a TI-30 myself...

Those old TI's had a great clicki-ness on the buttons.  But my true love is my old HP-15C, the original from the 80's still made in USA.  Can't believe how much functionality they packed into that thing.  It's amazing now but at the time was a true engineering marvel.  Had two friggin manuals and the second one had higher math functions I still don't understand.

looks like a blackberry and a calculator had a kid..... ever use a texas instruments computer? i think bill cosby did tv commercials for it. it wasn't bad but i think it was just a glorified game box. it had some really cool exclusives.

Yes it was a gift from a relative, hoping to nurture my techie ways.  It's got stats in there, algebraic solving, calculus stuff, complex numbers, friggin matrices.  And it has a primitive programming function with stacks and instructions etc.  They sell for alot on ebay, still in demand thirty years later.

*I just noticed that my graphing calculator (TI-nspire) was giving the wrong trig function answers. Someone told me to just go to mode and change from radians to degrees. So now that that is fixed, I notice that my TI-30X IIS calculator gives the answers as if I'm lookinh for functions of radians as well. I can't find a mode button and this is really aggravating me. Like I know this calculator can't just be dumb (I did hear that it got a recall on giving wrong answers though). Oh and also, when I do put in a equation like cos (pi/2)... it says .999624217, but my teacher says that cos(pi/2) is 0. Agh! Any help would be greatly appreciated.*

*I am wondering how often do errors occur in Calculators,
I was reading a post here and it seems that one of the Calculators got the wrong answer.
I currently have a 33S and a 50G and I am a college student.
I see that there are errors on both of these calculators
and they make me feel quite unconfident. Since I am a student and well one of the few people I know that uses HP instead of TI,
how common are these errors to my failure.
If my calculator is giving me wrong answers and everybody else is using a Ti then I am going to get screwed.*

I recall there was a bug in some version of Windows calculator right?  Some rounding error or such but it was so ubiquitous that it caused real problems from people like engineers & accountants using it.  It's one of those things you'd just assume was always right but never check haha.
