I haven't read all the posts, but I am intrigued with this phenomenon, too.  Though I suppose that it isn't any more curious than the other kinds of mixed-race pairings that are common, such as white women who prefer to date black men, etc.  This is one of the good things about modern society--that such couples aren't persecuted or made into outcasts as was common in earlier eras.

I used to think that a lot of the caucasian men who liked Asian women had been in the military and spent time in places like Viet Nam, Korea or the Phillipines and their experience with women there created an imprint.  I think that that may still be true for some.

I do know that some men who seek Asian brides through personals(used to be pen-and-paper personals before the Internet, and firms like Cherry Blossoms) have frankly stated that they are looking for someone who wants to be a mother, homemaker and helpmeet and isn't interested in feminism or outside careers.  This is kind of a blanket indictment of Caucasian women.  There are Caucasian women who still have old-fashioned values.  I don't know how hard these guys looked for them.  But as I said, it's a free country. I think that most of these marriages have a pretty good survival rate, and the scam rate probably isn't any higher than any other kind of internet dating, which can be a pretty risky proposition for anybody, of any age, color, gender or sexual orientation.

I'm not saying they aren't attractive or that anyone who thinks they are attractive is odd.  I'm just saying I'm creeped out by guys who are obsessed with Asian women and who only express interest in them.  They usually come off as Mark David Chapman types, in my broad brush assessment.

I almost want to say the whole thing is a Fetish.. Those are usually established in a male at an early age (4-10 years old) Perhaps an Asian baby sitter, a friend of Mom ETC.

When I was four, eating lunch at my friend Williams house, his mom was doing the dishes. I was seated at the table looking directly at her head to toe profile. Above the neck was secondary, her ample lifted breasts and round full buttocks, and yeah big feet in those open toed fluffy slippers. Throw in the thin waste and I was hooked on that form.

She made the best Kraft dinner. So I wanted to eat there as often as I could.  I swear that's where my obsession with that shape came from.

I lived for many years in arguably the most hyper-progressive region in the country - the Bay Area.  This concept of the "asian fetish" came up frequently and was the target of much disdain, surprisingly often from liberal-leaning women. 

It's odd to me that this one particular combo seemed ok to look down on, while all other race/gender combos must be accepted and even encouraged without judgement.  I never did get how this single exception to the hyper-tolerant coupling dogma was carved out.

About three lifetimes ago, I shacked up with a Thai girl for a couple of years. She was a gourmet chef at a local restaurant in San Diego. She was positively breathtakingly beautiful and I was crazy about her. But, I was constantly gone on military deployments. She screwed around on me, and that was that. No more Asian chicks for me haha.

An interesting point, well I find it interesting anyway. would be that while finding Asian chicks hot could be considered weird it probably wouldn't be considered racist, but finding black women repulsive would be considered racist. This is despite the fact that finding someone attractive is based upon what we find aesthetically pleasing, and really not some conscious decision to like or dislike someone based upon their race/features.
