Bug Out Bags - What's in yours?

I ditched my bug out bags EDC's when I moved out of the city and bugged in.

When I did live in the city I was nearly clueless on how to be a prepper. I took a lot of preparations in the wrong direction.
I thought firepower was all that I needed. Others said If you're going to invest in a metal, don't invest in Gold or Silver, but instead buy lead because you can shoot it. Well, I do agree it has a function, but you sure as fuck can't eat lead bullets, and in a country with 300+ million fire arms, that's not exactly a unique path taken either.

In truth, you can invest in pallets of food and guns, and that still won't save the average typical person. Anyone ever flip the breaker for a day? It really changes the way you think about electricity. What would life be like with out electricity or running water? Imagine the toilets backing up, and the house heating up in the high 90s. A bucket full of rounds and a gun isn't going to be the answer.

I took up on my instincts and moved about 850 miles to the mountains of Tennessee. When I got there I spent 2 months looking for my bug in spot, and finally bought up some wooded land that I now call home.
Now I feel very safe regardless of what happens. If it kills me here, then I had zero chance anywhere else anyways.

I can tell ya thou, it really depends on where you're living at on what you'd want to carry. Best advice I feel is to just move to the country and learn how to live off the land, garden, and hunt for food.

The more I think about it, you could keep one in the basement. The problem with chicks is they get old. Every few years you'll have to get a new one.

I carry an ogranic chemistry lab manual.
When the SHTF I will be able to make soaps, cleaning agents, and aspirin. Going to need something to barter with.

I also have a select package of notes that would allow me to make my own salt (remember how valuable salt was in the ancient world and bible stories?) and bleach (for water purification). 

And a slide rule.

In the case of a shtf event I do have some foodstuffs prepped for long term storage.... oatmeal, rice, water purification tablets... that sort of thing...  these are intended for short term (a couple of months) of staying put and keeping our heads down until shit gets off the fan.

In the event of a long term shtf situation, where food is almost impossible to get hold of, I have my .22 and .177 for downing small game like squirrels... that can keep us going for a little while longer.

In the event of even small game drying up, I WILL kill and eat my neighbours.

I even have an idea of who I'll be killing and eating first, second, third, etc...

Suffice to say, those neighbours who have annoyed me the most over the years are first in the pot.

I might not even wait for a shtf situation before killing one or two of those fuckers, come to think of it... just a 30 minute power outage and I'll be breaking in their window with a baseball bat and a skinning knife.

The B.O.B. is a critical thing. I don't even consider having a B.O.B or "gobag" as really anything else but good plain sense.  If you had to leave home in 10 minutes notice, not knowing when/if you were going to be able to return (think hurricane or forest fire), what would you grab to ensure the survival for you and your family??


My packs are set up as modular so I can cut weight when items aren't needed, main pack is 5.11 SOMS duffel with wheels, other things can be clipped on in a moments notice depending on need

What's in mine? It's been so long, let's go through it:
100' paracord, 100' tech chord
utility knife, baton knife, pocket chainsaw
magnesium strip, flint & steel, 2 lighters and waterproof matches
gauze and wraps, bandanas
petroleum jelly and cottonballs
First aid kit, snakebite kit, sun screen, extra pain killers, antibiotics, epinephrin pen. Antiseptics and talcum
sanitation stuff like soap, toothbrush, bleach (all in separate ziplocks) Coleman BIO-WIPES
space blanket and tarp
Super88 and duct tape.
7 days food-bar (like a giant powerbar)
3 days water
iodine and lifestraw filter.
physical field guide for edible/toxic plants and animals specific to my area
gas siphon pump. bump-key set
Mess kit with ultralight pan, skewers, metal spork.
portable radio, small solar kit with a small tablet in ESD bags & wrapped in TIN foil. crammed with Suvival Ebooks, a few games and audio for sanity sake.
some np95 masks
led headlamp and rechargable batteries (an adapter and extra batteries in my ESD bag.

My passport; copies of titles/deeds, birth certs, and insurance policy
Cash because I can't rely on Credit, and Silver/Gold because I can't rely on Cash. 
(That magic amount of cash you can have on you before being subject to seizure by LEO only applies to face value of coins. some $5 gold $1 silver eagles go far when the dollar is usless.  If things go to hell, it's silver for your food and gold for your life.

My tent lives next to my gobag in the closet, with an empty 100 gallon water-bob.

Geo-caches along a couple routes with energy bars, water, and ammo.

But most important of all:

well, the food brick has and a 20 year shelf life, any time I get a pain/antibiotic script I rotate the fresh and take the older.  The epi-pen is dated but still effective.
I'm practical and take it with me camping, so some of it gets used.  I check it before winter to make sure I haven't lost shit out of it, check dates on meds (anything more than 3x longer than the expiration date I figure has lost potency)

My end goal is to buy the land I've got some caching on.  The farmer is a friend of mine

Well as you know the Book of Revelation was written more than 60 years after Jesus died.  No one wrote down anything contemporaneously that Jesus said, and there is always disagreement amongst witnesses about the verbatim wording of memorable utterances by anyone (in the absence of some sort of recording).  On top of that, some dude with a different theology than "John" (the putative author of Revelation), who didn't know Hebrew, came in at a later date and messed around with everything after 20.3, leaving it logically haphazard and a bit of a mess.  There's also a school of thought that contends that verse 22 is a surviving prophecy of John the Baptist, which means that it certainly would not be a literal rendering of anything Jesus might have said (kind of like how some dudes have taken a story about Revolutionary War general Israel Putnam and replaced Putnam with George Washington, 'cause it aggrandized Washington).

So I would be cautious about taking this stuff as imperatives or assigning any great significance to it.
