Our military teaches the soldiers to dehumanize the enemy of the day but all that really does is dehumanize the soldiers.

Well, it's a tasteless business either which way..certainly not one to be spoken of outside the little groups who participate in such shenanigans.  My Grandfather fought in North Africa.  I never knew it until he was sick and on this way out.  Knew he had served in the Army..knew he was in the war, but he NEVER talked about it until the last time I saw him and pressed him. He mainly spoke of his friends, places he had been...then gave his final words on the subject.  He told me that even after all the years had gone by, he still couldn't get over what men were capable of doing to each other...on both sides.  He told me that there is never any grandeur in war.  After he passed, my mother sent me a shoe box with some of his belongings including a leather-bound stationary set he purchased in Morocco (I believe) and sea shells he collected from North African shores.  He was a quiet, loving, and gentle man.  It makes me ill to see some of these clowns cashing in on their service with grotesque books, movie deals, etc.  It makes me sicker to see how many many people buy into it and lap it up.  Scary.
