Spot on Seraphim. One of the pivotal moments I learned in my first job after leaving school was taking it before giving it out. If you can't do the first, you'll be treated with contempt if you do the latter. Taking it includes doing it to yourself, it shows you're human and flawed. I get quite irritated when Jaz is criticised for giving it out, but forget he chooses his target, (NEVER someone he doesn't know well) and gets as good as he gives. I've not met the man but I instinctively know he's one to have on your side.

A 'public' figure reveals to his or her audience exactly what he or she wishes to on air. You may or may not have heard of an Irish TV/radio presenter/broadcaster in the UK called Terry Wogan. What is publicly known about him, is that he is married to a woman called Helen, and has children and is a grandfather himself, oh, and he lives near the river Thames. That's it. When he works on TV or radio, it's not about him. It's about whoever or whatever he's presenting. Because of that, critique comes to him on his presenting, and ONLY his presenting. Not about broken cars, or pant shitting, or his opinions on other presenters, or in fact his opinions on pretty much anything.

Falkie can't detach himself from his subject, because the subject his him.

Why? He and Stuart can tell as much or as little (which is likely) as they wish. They both recognise their shows aren't about them, they're the conduit, not the topic.

The big difference is they don't take themselves very seriously either. What do you actually 'know' about Eddie, jaz, Onan and Dubb's private life?

And you listen to it, so what's your point? There were walls upon walls of posts from Falkie that derailed almost every thread he touched, and then when themudking tried, very diplomatically, to give him a thread of his own, he complained. A lot. But not nearly as much as many former members, great  people who've been on here for years and who complained and finally stopped posting. 


Utter bullshit. Nothing's stopping anyone from subscribing to Falkie's channel on y/t, but gabcast is about Bellgab. It's not trying to go toe to toe with George Noory, and failing miserably.

I am one of those who has largely bailed out on this forum.  Too many newbies who don't understand the history, tone, culture here.  Too much anger and plain old weirdness on display.  Just because I think a thing doesn't mean I have to share it!  I don't visit this forum to watch trolling and flaming (or whatever the techie term is).

Isn't there a fundamental difference between a group of people shooting the breeze about a forum and someone with TMI syndrome who seriously believes he's going to give Noory a run for his money, and ignores all well-meaning help? I never flamed Falkie, let me add, but as a poster here, I like hearing the voices of other posters and the discussions on Gabcast, and the gents who man it as well as the callers. I'm sorry but I couldn't get past Falkie's first video. Life is too short. I don't know why people made cruel gifs about him and such, and that's something I didn't particular enjoy, but that doesn't mean the Gabcast people should be flamed because he was.

WotR, I really hope you reconsider. MV's done some much needed housecleaning, I see, and maybe we'll get back on an even keel. I'll indulge you. Why don't you set up (with Falkies input, naturally) a new forum dedicated to Falkie? You can post a link on Google, and even moderate it. If there are any posts that even remotely criticise Falkie, you can delete them; you could even extend it to constructive advice on his own podcasts/ videos.

If you're a Falkie fan (AKA friend), then I suggest sincerely you get him a course in self awareness, manners, personal hygiene and listening skills. If you need to, raise funds by a collection.

That would require to much work for the fiscal reward... These types of forums are generally a hobby activity.
