Just to be clear AGAIN, a Independent Broadcaster is somebody who is generally not exclusive to Sirius/Xm
but is still carried, Like Coast was and many other shows. The sad part is that we proposed that over a Week
ago and even said we would remain exclusive to Sirius/XM in the Broadcast World and would only stream on
the Web Site. Sadly they have not replied.

I will indeed honor my NC if they want me to and I am fairly sure they will, if not I will stream the show to you
as I said I would. I do not understand why they would not since it was such a win-win. We would no longer be
employees so their cost would have been near zero. I am concerned there are other factors at work here, time
will tell.

                                                                                                                            Art

Art, any chance they would nullify the NC?  If they let you out of your contract so easily ( still hoping that's not the case though), perhaps they would go easy on that issue also?  A girl can hope can't she?

And after the NC?  Will you honor your pledge and revive the show then...as soon as possible as you had promised?

That's two years off.

Art is 68

Don't ask him that.

Wait, I just noticed C2C is playing an "Art Bell Somewhere in Time" show on Saturday. Am I wrong or did they stop playing those when DM began to air? Have they been playing those all along?

So you'd rather honor a non compete clause after being off the air for years than fight it?

I generally jump on conspiracies but Art, the only reason you aren't on the air currently is due to a decision you made. You could continue on Sirius and negotiate with them while still being on air.
I don't want to just say it's other forces at work here and just leave it at that.

Art, you don't owe me or anyone else anything, sure a lot of us spent money to hear you but that was our choice. Another two years off the air means you will be 70 and we as listeners will be another two years without our favorite host. That would be unacceptable to me if I was in your position but I'm not so maybe you have some other reason.

And you brought the word honor into it, no corporate entity is honorable, they have a bottom line and if keeping you off the air helps that bottom line then they will. So you might find it honorable to hold yourself to a bullshit non compete (you weren't even on for two months) but the execs will just laugh at you and us for it.

It's your life, it's your choices, but a lot of other people are effected by them, for good or bad.

I hope that Premiere don't have their dirty sticky fingers in all of this.

As much as I support Art--it's too easy to and VERY unproven to take the responsibility for this mess off Art and put it on Sirius and/or on some very unproven AND hidden PREMEIRE factor.

Yup! I think if there isn't an affirmative answer from Sirius then we won't hear Art on any radio again... (my bitchy side would say that now we've got a convenient scapegoat in Sirius then...)

Still got my fingers crossed!

They were  playing them throughout the whole Dark Matter run.

Art,

Are you at liberty to discuss the other offers you had to return to radio that you declined before the Sirius opportunity?

A ten year old Art Bell show is better than George Noory today.  I don't dislike Noory at all.  I'm sure he's a respectable gentleman, but he's just a terrible interviewer.

Of course i'm going to ask him about his promise to bring the show back as soon as possible--that is what he claimed he was going to do before.  And others said Art just manufactured all this soap opera as an excuse because he just wanted to quit and not do a show anymore.

If Art stands by his pledge to do a show as soon as possible THEN his harsh critics are wrong.  Otherwise they could very well be right.

420desert

Sirius has two years to respond to Art's proposal. Let's not get carried away after only one week.

Art, I believe it's time a new generation pick up the mantle so to speak anyways.

If you have the time check out the first episode of Dark weekend by Steve Warner (Bateman)

I agree - let's not get carried away.

But at the same time, let's not put the onus on them entirely. Art chose to walk away from his arrangement with Sirius. Yes, he popped on board with some 'modifiers' to sweeten the deal but Sirius has a right to not agree with them, or be anything from angry to indifferent about Art now that he's pulled his stunt.

I feel like testing the stream and throwing out hints has put everyone's hopes up. Be prepared if it amounts to nothing, that's what long-term fans are used to.

mr.bell  your going to have to rename the wormhole gabblast .

This whole past week feels like lip service to soften and calm the harsh backlash that was coming from the base fans.

I wish it didn't feel like that, but it does.

If Art knew he was going to end the show if Sirius said no then he should have had an attorney ready to get him out of the no compete.

Paul, I believe you guys care, and want to keep doing the show but this whole fiasco was handled as poorly as the Obama care roll out.

And I want nothing more than to have to eat my words.

Art, LSU just got blown out by Alabama. Is it time to fire Les Miles?

I wonder if JC is insultated because he never had the chance to cast demons out of Mr. Bell on Dark Matter.

If this was all theater, I will never forgive.

My take on it is that a "Brett Favre" came out of retirement, got blown out in the first two games, realizes no superbowl, and retires again.

Without streaming there is no way the show can compete with C2C. Dark Matter was a glorified podcast... at least initially. It could have grown more. I think Art thought more than 10,000 of the 27 million subscribers would listen.

It feels like theater. It feels like a narrative is being built to make this whole situation seem like a series of unfortunate events.

And the audience numbers shouldn't of mattered that much after less than two months, he could of actively renegotiated his contract while still on air with Sirius.

McPhallus

Pretty sure he meant that as tongue-in-cheek, as we all know truckers are a large part of Art's audience.

Quote from: Phaedra on November 09, 2013, 07:51:11 PM
Sigh.  This coming from a guy with nothing to contribute but uninspired one-liners.  I used to use people like you as examples to my kids (who are now in college, BTW!!   Oh my god, a trucker sends her kids to college??) of what NOT to aspire to....narrow-minded smallness.  You and your ilk, dear sir, are exactly the reason that I left corporate America and am now a proud long-hauler and loving it, so I guess I should thank you.

Gosh darn Golly gee, I sure hope I can get this new fangled Apple thingy to post right.  I know I'm too stupid and poor to run the dang thing and all... Douchebag.
