It boggles my mind why Art would think it's a better place for his family...but to each his own as the cliche goes.

The Philippines are a very beautiful place, with beautiful people inside and out.
Like Art said filipinos are very happy people even though they own next to noting.
The islands have a large amount of poverty, so much so it's shocking to us in the 1st world.
On the other hand if you have money life can be 95% as good materialistically there as any place in the 1st world, sometimes even better. Leveraging the power of the U.S. dollar against the Peso gives you more spending power.

Going there as a financial and or social oasis I don't understand myself, the place can be unstable on both counts even in good times stateside.
If the USA gets a financial cold the rest of the world gets the flu.

You can't expect anything else from ignorant savages.  There is no cure for STUPID!  And for others, the crow is just about cooked and ready to eat about now.

And what crow would that be?

Are you tapping into some kind of timeline in which SXM has already accepted Art's proposal, and he's streaming online right now? Or are you just shaking up the magic 8-ball that popped out of your pooper?

Art Bell

Well the tone was good, there is no tone to report today because there was no communication and
so that is all I am able to report. I try to be honest in my dealings with everybody and I have been
nothing but honest with Sirius/XM. I also am giving all of you the straight stuff.

When I was hired they just said come and have fun and if at any point you want to leave, no problem.
I didn't really want to leave, I just wanted a change in the structure to reflect what so many of their
other Host's do. I still think it would be a total win-win situation. They have not said yes and at the same
time they have not said no. I will let you know the moment I get word.

Thanks for the update Producer-Paul. It's is much appreciated by the informationally challenged here.

Is no news good news? Perhaps. If it was an outright no you'd think they would have come out and said that right off the bat.

If they are taking their time and crunching the numbers then that could be a good thing.

And while we all are waiting this is what I will be having for lunch today:

Marinated chicken breast on a bed of quinoa, spinach, cherry tomatoes and onion topped with grilled lemon!

Not the manliest of meals but this is what you gotta eat when you're on a diet.

Sorry dude - but looks like somebody took a dump on your plate...  :o

I don't doubt any of that, it just seems it's prone to much more natural disaster and isn't as 'stable' as the USA. But it's not my business.

Why say it would have been??

Can't help but feel like you aren't that worried about if it happens or not.

I think Art has a back up plan.

There is no transmitter on a sirius/xm radio.  I don't see how they can tell how many people are tuned in to any one station.  Streaming is another matter.  But on a receiver.  No.
There may be a way for them to tell how many radios or on or what channel they tune to ??? I am not a tech but I know when they recently did a channel line up change I called them with a question and they were able to access my car (s) & home receivers/radios and send me the updates while I waited...all the units have ID#'s which are the customers account number...who knows...FYI.

Thanks for the update Art. I hope they take you up on it. I see it being a win win as well.

SciFiAuthor

Well, maybe no answer today reveals that they're seriously thinking about it rather than being outright against it.

Thanks for both updates and info Art.

oh OOPS I didn't realize Art was on here or I wouldn't have soiled this part of the thread with a pic of my ghetto TV dinner.

Good evening, Art! Thanks for the updates!  :)

Art Bell

To answer your question, yes I have a two Year non compete. I am a bit puzzled
at the lack of response today but they are a big company and move slowly.

They may be concerned about my back problems, they are real and pretty awful
when they happen. It can cause me to lose a day or so because it is impossible to
move when it happens but so far I have always recovered.

Sounds on the positive side...

...though I suspect they  weren't thinking you were going to leave after 6 weeks or so!   :P

On Air - it sounded like you were having fun. Certainly sounded better than the last few times of C2C.

Again, hoping for the best, that you'll be back on the air  soon.

Does this contract stick if you decide to go solo via Stream and only take profits from your site's generated revenue?
If so, I'd say that's a pretty sweet setup to try.

Thanks for the updates, Art, I appreciate your communications.  Keep the vigil going, BellGabbers!

Why didn't you work these things out quietly behind the scenes with SXM while continuing to air the show?

Quote from: Wilderness on November 07, 2013, 06:31:04 PM

But how many of those Host's quit their shows ( thus start burning their bridges ) and have their request to be independent then accepted?
