It's not cool to photoshop George's face and make it look all messed up like that.

I didnt think Sirius would buy it.
And they didnt.

Art is not so much an engineer but an artist.
And so I think it is true the deficiencies in the Sirius player was a factor.

Art returned because he loves engaged conversation and radio.
Art returned because he knew he could best those who muzzled him for 10 long years and prevented him from doing what he loves...
Actually a jail sentence. For a person who had done no wrong.

So Sirius calls him to offer him artistic license over his product. And he accepts.
As the few shows progress, it dawns on him that while people may listen to him while mobile, they do not call.
And nether should they for safety reasons.
Only a minority calls from internet devices. And those devices receive buggy transmissions.
Recall the Art Bell Show is as much about the Caller as the Interviewed.
Yet what messages he receives convinces him he is a global radio personality.
Yet Sirius primarily services North America.

To break free of the limited Sirius model, he creates a new model.
A satellite / internet hybrid  which can more effectively challenge conventional radio broadcasting.
But Sirius votes a veto. Which implies Art will perpetually be nothing more than a niche programmer in the night.
And never be able to challenge Premrats dominance.

So Art quits.

He quits to build his own free streaming service.
To sell his own advertising.
To sell his own archived shows for a nominal fee.
To license his product to AM/FM radio stations.
To license his product to Sirius itself.
To more effectively compete against Premrats  conventional radio distribution.
And simply to crush them.

At least I hope.

This tentatively makes sense, but if that were the case why would he down his facebook and give no real hint that this is his ultimate plan?

You're aware he has an abominable track record and its not just on the radio. His kids from some of his earlier marriages or hookups or whatever have spoken about this, so its an institutional facet of his personality.

I don't understand why he agreed to Sirius anyway. Alot of this could have been foreseen, considering what Sirius is. In contrast, it could've been possible to simply start his own website, podcast, etc. Sean David Morton is huge online now, and he was a former top guest of Art's. The money sucks, I'm sure, but I doubt that's why he's doing any of this.

Hmmmng.

Here's another, albeit darker, Downfall parody about all this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=m1cpZ1rfKFY&

This more adequately portrays my emotions as of now.

I just hope Tommy doesn't go postal.

hey you guys over in this quitting thread. I got a new thread going on with solution ideas, instead of this epic bickering that aint going nowhere. Let off some constructive steam here instead. Maybe we can pull this one out of the fire for all 3 parties. Cause things aint good these days for any of 'em.

subject: solutions to the coast to coast, sirius/xm, and art bell problems.

I think he's jumping on the opportunity to try and suck up & don't think he's a nice guy at all. Just stopped by to drop a load of bullshit. ...

You've got that right.  Once a snake, always a snake.

What strip club was this photo taken at?

I wouldn't mind remote viewing her and why does $noorge always look like an Inspector Closseau lookalike caught in the headlights when he does these pictures ?

I thought he was, I'll just message him. I am mostly curious. I wonder how much a buy out of the non compete would be?
just doing the math. just what they would have paid him from 11/01/13 till the end of his contract would ROUGHLY be $52083.33.  That might be a good number to start with.

Art believes that he has lost all of his listeners because they can't stream Sirius. Which is BS, Art lost his base because he still is acting like a child like always. Meaning when Art doesn't get 100% of his way, he goes home.

Thanks to those who responded to my question about Art "losing his base."  I actually do know what Art means when he says he has lost his base.  I just don't believe he really thinks huge numbers of diehard fans have dropped their subscriptions to Sirius because there were some internet glitches.  Translation:  I don't buy Art's lame excuses!

No one is more of a base for Art than the people who post here on a regular basis, and I haven't heard anyone saying they would no longer listen to Dark Matter if Sirius didn't perfect their streaming system.  I had dropouts from time to time, which had improved greatly from the beginning of the show, but it never once occurred to me that those little annoyances made Art Bell's long-awaited return to radio unlistenable.

That dog just don't hunt!!  >:(

I'm putting this out in the universe, because, well fuck it at this point.

Art will be back on next week.

I'm just stating that now.

And be honest like MV said on the podcast, the fact is we are all upset because Art is not on the air.
Darn right I'm upset.  And I hope he does come back next week.  But I still think he is in the wrong in this bogus feud with Sirius.

I think he looks handsome and at the top of his game. He's clearly a man who knows what he wants and knows how to get it.

It doesn't hurt that he's got the voice of an whiskey-wisened, Scottish angel.

I'm a n00b here, I hope I got the name of the show correct. Let me know if I didn't and I can change it right away.

The first ten seconds of MV and Curtis's reaction to Hearing George at first was hilarious.

So goodbye Art. I've said some pretty rough things in this situation, and I'll stand by them because... that's how I feel.

Why bother? Art claimed that Romona was his soul mate. After she passed he quickly married again to somebody who barely was old enough to be able to legally drink. Okay no way in hell could I do that so fast. I would need a lot more time. But that doesn't excuse Art what he does for his faithful listeners. As he tells us bye-bye suckers, I am out of here.

I am so tired of making excuses for Art. Now I leave it up to karma and I refuse to waste all of my good karma to keep saving his butt. That ungrateful soul has to make it on his own merits now. And whatever he gets from now on is from his own doing. He no longer enjoys the protection that he once had.

So, how do I get the soundcloud thing to actually play?

NM...got it.

Thank you! Bummed I missed this!

In fact, GOOD GOD the stuff I've missed here today! Art popped in? GEORGE CALLED IN TO GABCAST?

Lord help me, I've got something like 60 pages of this thread to read to catch up. Somebody give me the Cliff's Notes version.

Speaking of George, he sent me a really nice PM about my dad (who got put on a ventilator today, BTW â€" SOMEBODY MAKE IT STOP :'( ).

AWWWWW, why'd you have to go and do that, George? Now I've got a moral dilemma! Damn, I've been surrounded by so much grief and suffering at the hospital today, I just can't bring myself to cause any of it myself, with nasty comments and the like. I will still gently poke fun at his pizza rolls and silly interview questions though. And I'm still mad as hell at Art. And hell yes, John B. Wells is still on my list of Top 10 People I Would Like to Have Phone Sex With.

Shoot, are you guys gonna kick me out of the club now?  :-[

Think I'm a little hopped up on Xanax. Anyone want some?

I agree with you 100% on the Ramona thing. Damn. My folks followed this religious cult --- Shepherd's Chapel --- and when the head guy's wife died, he immediately struck up a relationship with Loretta Lynn. Loretta Lynn talked about it in her Memoir.  My parents didn't see how screwy it was, but I did. It's a similar thing with Art, I think --- psychopathy or whatever.

I thought it was someone doing a fairly bad impression of Dave for a while there ... until I recognized his inflections and such and took into account the phone connection/quality.

Actually, as some one whos been here and there. Noory impressed me tonight. I found respect for Noory. I think hes just a guy doing his job. Still, not to his abilities. But I think he means well.
Just about everything that Noory said tonight on the GabCast was pure BS.
He doesn't really mean any of what he said. It's all an act!
I'm sure that he and his crew thought that today would be a perfect time to come back here and get on the GabCast to get some people to his side.
Looks like he has succeeded with some.  ::)

I sincerely hope that not too many others have fallen for his "I'm-a-nice-guy-Belieeeeve-me" act. It's what he does. It's what he's been doing for years.
