MV, that phone app you were talking about at the end of the shoe:  It will just start playing the 'live' feed without any user input, like say, I'm asleep & my mom forgets to wake me up or something?

If that's the case, what was it called again?  I hate phone apps, I think they are another chink in the security armor, but I might consider allowing it in this one case, maybe...

I do hate it when I wake up and realize I've missed/am late for yet another GabCast... (and if it plays live feed randomly of Fret Files, I guess I'll just have to learn to live with that...)

The app is BeyondPod.  When you subscribe to a podcast's RSS feed,  the app automatically checks for new episodes each day at a time set by you.  no, it doesn't just randomly start playing, heh heh.  it just downloads the episodes and then you have to manually choose to play them.  the episodes are stored on your device as MP3 files.

And I say this as someone who has no interest in wading thru all that shit when listening to the recording.

However.  There may be something to be learned from the owners in MLB and the NFL.  When TV first came out, they were adamantly against televising the games, thinking it would reduce box office ticket sales if fans could stay home and watch for free instead. 

But they were wrong.  Turns out televising the games had the effect of increasing box office ticket sales.  Televising the games increased the overall fan base, overall interest in the games, and the fans watching at home ended up wanting to go - and going - to more games than they otherwise would have.  And look at the ticket prices and attendance now, even with nearly every game televised.

So a person reading along with the chat while listening to a replay may think 'shit, I need to listen live and participate'.  Others, listening to just the replay without the chat room being available, aren't going to give the said chat room a second thought.


Then again, what do I know, I'm not a PD

I only need the txt if for some reason I cannot listen due to a bad connection. (Like I had last night)
And Art is in there. I like to follow along later while relaxing.  But I never miss the live show if I can help it. And I think it will make a nice companion show to Arts new venture.   BTW the horn music is the fucking TITS.  Reminds me of that new Uptown Funk song.

Think of the trees!  If a chat-log isn't posted then the DaveBots won't print that stuff out and send it to Dave! 

This leads me into an existential question:  If a chat-log isn't posted and a forest of trees isn't cut down to make the paper for it to be printed upon, will the igNoory still make awful sounds On-Air?

i never knew you had it running.  how many listeners was it picking up?

everyone that couldnt connect to your server because it was full, i think 10 at one point. i could only hold 15 at 128kb/sec due to bandwidth.  if i had the bandwidth it would hold however many i wanted.
