Chefist, on the other hand . . . heh, heh, heh. ;)

Yeah, that was nicely done, and it definitely surprised and befuddled the hosts for a couple of minutes. I was pretty sure he was kidding, because he sounded like JC channeling Frank Booth, but I wouldn't have bet a dollar on it either. His daughter's call was fun, too, and she was a heck of a lot more poised than I was.  ;D

I blame you for having such a long delay.  It was about the eighth time I'd tried to call in half an hour, and when you suddenly answered, I was hearing that in one ear while hearing you drone on about your latest butt hurt in the other.  I'd assumed the Gabcast was live because there was no reason for it not to be.  Or do I just have a slow interwebs connection?

I've got to host the gabcast one of these days.

Bucket list stuff.

i think the delay is probably about 15 seconds or so.  i haven't really timed it.  it's a 64kbps stream, and back when the stream was 24kbps, the delay was something like 32 seconds.  crazy.  the higher the bitrate on a shoutcast stream, the lower the delay/buffer.  i wish there were some way to go into the server and instruct it to buffer less, but i don't think it's possible.  at least, when i checked a few years ago it wasn't possible.  5 seconds would be good.  it would make the chat more congruent with what's being said by the hosts.  however, the stream would be potentially less stable on the listener side.

It sure seemed like a long delay, but since it's unavoidable I won't blame you for it.  The breakfast with benefits offer still stands.

At my suggestion we kept it hush-hush to keep out the riff-raff.

After I hung up after my call and walked from the kitchen to my room, I was surprised to still hear my call coming off the stream.
I couldnt beleive how quiet I was, I could barely hear my voice on the downloaded Podcast version, esp. when compared to MVs booming voice.  That was on a hardwired landline as well.   Maybe next time I'll call in using my rotary style phone. Pulse dialing, no tone on the old school rotary lol

Cool.  I was sort of hoping astroguy or someone in the meteorite expert department might be on.  No matter!  I will take Mr. Fidget as an expert in metallic type things.

Here's a picture of some strange metallic objects I found in my yard over the course of this summer (two more bits were found today):

I like to look around the yard after it rains, I find all sorts of interesting things.  Old marbles, old perfume/tonic bottles, and that massive chunk of ferrous stuff that looks suspiciously like a meteorite.  And the little bits of ferrous stuff that look also suspiciously like meteorites...

The round magnet and kitchen knife, as well as the standard paper towel were not found in the backyard, well maybe the knife but that was only because my dogs drag random items into the backyard to play with.  Socks, boxer shorts, spools of garden twine, pillows etc.

Should I worry that my dogs seem to enjoy playing with knives or my boxer shorts more?

I digress; does that look meteorlogical (sp) to anyone else?  Should I be worried?  I have half-jokingly said that if I could choose how I die it would be in a meteor strike, should I stop joking like that?

I signed and dated the paper towel so that the veracity of my claims can be substantiated.

If it is a meteorite it would really freak me out.

Thought of you, pate:
