Went to the eye doctor and she fitted me for contacts. It's like trying to learn how to see again.

I guess it will take a while to learn how to focus and read.
Feels wierd to not have glasses on for the first time in 55 years.
And coming home I saw this absolutely gorgeous young girl and almost got clobbered by my gf.
Couldn't help myself. Tall, long blonde hair, about 20 and busty.

No he was being an ass, from a previous live discussion thread the other night.  Drumming up old shit are his ways.  And has made it a point to knock on me for streaming the show, and HOW WRONG I AM, almost to near JC proportions!

Went to the eye doctor and she fitted me for contacts. It's like trying to learn how to see again.

thats actually pretty cheap compared to the eye doctor I went to this month.
I wanted a newer custom gas permeable contacts that are designed to exactly fit your cornea and can correct both astigmatism and are multifocal.
I found out that they require scanning your corneas and the special contacts themselves for a pair are around $600, plus I don't know yet how much for all the preparation.
Turned out he couldn't scan my corneas since my eyes were too deep seated for the machine to read!
The company makes a special attachment for that but they are so rare he is still trying to find another eye doctor who
has used one so he can borrow it.
In the meanwhile, he found my eye's pressure had increased and I am starting to get optic nerve damage in my right eye already causing the start of visual field loss on one side, extreme peripheral vision a few degrees - but its an area the left eye sees so so far it doesn't affect my total vision.
But to keep it from progressing worse, he prescribed glaucoma eye drops (1 drop in each eye per day) to lower the pressure in the eyes to a normal range.
I had to go for about 3 extra appointments this month so he could do all the extra tests for checking the visual field, optic nerve, plus checking the eye pressure on different days and times.
Even with my insurance paying a small portion, I suspect I'm going to be out nearly $1000 for all this - even BEFORE any of the costs of new contacts, since we haven't even got to that yet, and thats what I went to him for in the first place!
Since I wasn't considering this extra expense at this time, I will probably scrap the plan for new contacts until next year at least. I want to try to figure out what the annual expenses will be for additional checkups (more often than once a year now) and the eye drops.
He wouldn't prescribe a cheaper generic version, only the expensive brand name which is about $120/month bottle compared to $25/bottle for generic.
However I did luckily find the brand name manufacturer has a special deal that runs until the end of the year which I signed up for now where you only have to pay $25 at the pharmacy for a month supply bottle and they pay the rest, or you pay $50 for a 3 month supply and they pay the rest.
Also found Canadian online pharmacy you can use where the prices are 1/2 the USA prices for the same thing, and even lower prices if you buy a 3,6,or12 month supply at once. Good to know if the manufacturer doesn't have a new
special program starting next year.

Get well soon Art! Back spasms are no fun. I messed up my back pretty good when I was 15 and to this day, (I'm 37), about every other year I'll bend the wrong way and BAM! Back Spasms. I've picked up 300lb patients and drug bodies down stairs and been fine and last year bending over to pick up a receipt I threw my back out. When it goes I'm usually down for at least 5 days. Five miserable days. So I can sympathize.
Get better Art. We'll be here when you get back.
