Yeah, that's the same guy alleyrulez. I think I met him while I was playing guitar on a Queensryche record. My wife and I were musicians in one of the many bands that he's produced records for.

Agreed. Chunga made a mockery of the legacy of the GIS with his revisionist version of history. I haven't eaten chimichanga since.

Besides the plausible explanation that she may in fact be winding down I wouldn't be surprised if Chunga was part of the reason.

They took a simple concept like EVP and needlessly complicated it with the spiritbox mumbo-jumbo. I'm not surprised they hear voices when scanning the AM/FM bands. That's generally what radio is for.

And, seeing that they mentioned that they can get false positives from radio stations like male voices spontaneously changing to female voices, can we hear a couple examples of what that sounds like compared with a "legitimate" EVP?

For those of us (like me) who felt like this was bunk from the beginning adding all these extra wrinkles isn't any more convincing.

Anyone know what really happened to GIS? The ghostpix.com and GIS facebook haven't been updated in over a year. The cancer known as Chunga makes NO mention of GIS on his site or FB.

Listening to the old ones (late 90's/early 2000's) they listed members as Roger, Barbara, Jenny, Barry & Brendan, and they didn't take new members. Never was there any mention of a DJ hack named Jimmy/Brett.

Sorry to vent, it just pisses me off because the GIS shows I really liked.  The piece of human excrement known as Chunga ruined it for everybody.

Yeah, we were all excited for this show & Chunga just... gah.  I remember Brendan saying Barbara wasn't feeling well enough to appear on this episode of DM.  GIS were my favorite Art Bell guests too.  Listening to GIS on Coast with Art was how I learned about EVP's.

Somehow Chunga just wasn't right.  I could feel Art's reaction in his moment of awkward silence when the guy insisted Art call him 'Chunga'; for the rest of the show there was a palpable sense of uncomfort.

But it was Art Bell on the air, so, of course I loved it.

I get the vibe that there was some sort of breakdown within the group, but I don't really know any more than you.

Yeah, I felt just as bummed out by Chunga and the sorry state of GIS. Ghost to Ghost and GIS shows were the best. "Chunga", as I am sure any adult pushing 50 would love to call himself, was such a me too charlatan it cheapened all they had done. It's like he was a failed attention whore DJ that was holding Barb at gunpoint to force himself into the limelight. This is the great thing about Art quitting. It spared us more Chunga Bunga.

Agreed with all the above posts.  Used to follow electronic music pretty closely and never once heard of a DJ Chunga - seems like just another bedroom DJ desperate for attention.  It's too bad because now listening to old GIS episodes it just isn't the same, the whole thing is tainted with the taste of Chunga and the lingering feeling that maybe the whole thing was bogus from the start given the pretty obvious fake EVP's in the latest interview.

I went back and listened to the Chunga Trainwreck and didn't think it was as awful on second pass as it was when I heard it live. I just think it was jarring to expect the old GIS and then get slapped upside the head with Chunga.  But yeah it definitely paled to compared to the old GIS shows.

I dunno about that. I recently re-listened to that show too and couldn't get passed Chunga. He is just grating. Bring back Barbara.

I heard the show live my BS detector went off as soon as I heard Chunga speak. Hyper attention whore out of work DJ = trouble. I think Art knew it but was too polite to call him out on it.

GIS shows are still a go-to on the streams and, call me a sucker, I believe they were legit. Barbara & co. weren't selling anything, so it couldn't be for profit. I've also done some recordings in a place where  mediums do readings and gotten stuff that I couldn't explain. There's definitely something to it IMHO.

"Chunga" would be a perfect name for a virus that takes something over (GIS), has one night with it (appearance on DM), then destroys it & moves on to the next victim
