That's the one that gets overplayed here.

Yeah, I've seen it and the radio host in the movie is totally modeled after Art.
Hmmm.  I'll look for it.  Thanks.

albrecht

was re-listening to an old show with Jack Anderson, one of my favorite reporters back-in-the-day, and I noticed that Art mentions phone problems he had were related to Area-51 and some outages and a government site that still mentioned some problems and was surprised it wasn't  "[Re-Dacted"] hahaha. I wish we still have Jack Anderson types around by the way....

Sadly it is not.
$8 on Amazon Instant Video and iTunes
Or find a less-than-legal copy

It hasn't sucked the way I was assuming it would.
They did something similar to "The Fourth Kind" where they splice in "real" footage with the rest of the movie. Fourth Kind did it better.
Better than $10+ at a theater.

So want Knapp as the MITD weekend host...him or Louisiana Howard.

Or Bateman.

Bateman on Saturdays and Knapp on Sundays? Yes?

That's true. But the extra bucks gets you a squeak chair, shared arm rest, and sticky floors. Hard to replicate that in your living room

The two are distinct. The first is a vanity press. This is where you pay for x number of copies and market them yourself. This is self-published.

The second is indie publishing. Same thing as the big publishers, just smaller. Here the company takes the financial risk, edits and prints the book, markets it and then pays the author just like what would happen at Simon & Schuster. Visible Ink is one of these. They're just called indie publishing companies because they are independent companies from the "Big Six" publishing houses.

The Amazon method is a mix of the two. They print the books on demand as they sell on Amazon and then they pay the author for the sales. The author does not put up any money at all. Amazon has a number of promotional tools for the author, and as the author grows then Amazon begins promoting harder and distributing the books to stores and you sort of transition from initially self-published to published by Amazon. Some of these books are making the NYT best seller list, and Ridley Scott bought the film rights to two of the sci-fi ones.

OK, I got it now.  Self-publishing is pretty much what I thought it was, and yes I think a good number, if not a majority, of the C2C guests do self-publish.  In fact George frequently asks his guests if they self publish.

Thanks for taking the time to explain all that, I'm sure it was as educational for others as much as it was for me.

Okay, I'm way late to the SCTV/Music topic, but I always thought this one was one of the funniest music parodies they did....

Not so hard to replicate at Falkie's house...

Also, I saw on some TV show that the star of that show The Big Bang Theory was the highest paid star....maybe Art could do a cameo appearance on the Big Bang  Theory?  It would be funny.

I have no idea how to make that happen though.....just thinking out loud.....anyone here with connections to Hollywood?

I think this is a really good idea.

The Big Bang Theory is only the top comedy TV show in the US, and the characters love sci-fi and all things science related.  They've had quite a few actors from Star Trek and Star Trek Next Gen appear in episodes, as well as people like Stan Lee, Steve Wozniak, Stephen Hawking, Buzz Aldrin...  Not to mention others not related to sci-fi, science, comic books, etc like Bob Newhart.  Art would fit right in appearing in an episode, and it would certainly get him some exposure in front of viewers who might like MITD.  It might even be fun.

The hard part would probably be getting invited to appear on an episode, but surely someone involved with the show is familiar with Art and would be interested in talking to him about it

Oh kill me now.

Oh Bateman, lol, you'd turn down an appearance if they asked?

Why thank you kind sir....I have been defended.  Bateman, I know, I know....but the thing is...tons of people love the show, and the main theme is science, physics, etc.  I think Art would have a blast.

I'm not sure, it seems like alot of guest stars get pestered by Sheldon:  Briane Greene got heckled, Neil Degrasse Tyson got shushed, and Steven Hawking got drunk-dialed.   ??? :D

It's the most painfully unfunny show on TV. But if they're paying, sure. Lol yourself.

I agree.  A whole lot of bang for the effort. ;)  This or the X-Files.  Art AND RCH both would be killer.  RCH as the stereotypical eccentric scientist and Art as The Master of the Night.

Wow.  Things have changed, somewhat, since the 90s when I was trying to publish some of my poetry.  A couple of the publishing houses did contact me that, though they had folded, they recommended that I submit my works to a couple of their associates.  Unfortunately, I didn't follow up.

Now that I've been "re-enlightened" I may look for my old drafts, or simply start writing again.  I have put this off far too long.

Art alone would improve the show...and he's pretty used to getting drunk dialed. :) :)  Plus, the show has good ratings....that's all I care about for Art's sake.

Agree.  I doubt few folks who find this show funny ever had to go to school or work with this kinda people.
