What a cool interview this is....

I like the idea of Art doing "emergency" broadcasts when really big things happen or are happening.

Art picks his spots well.  This interview should create some tasty waves of publicity for MitD.  And hey, Tom got some nice Art Bell sound bites, too (although he should have let Art answer the damn questions...but then, Leykis does not typically do interviews, he usually just pontificates on "the game").
We have you to thank, Etouffee, for the heads-up and the link.  I had never heard of Tom's show before today.  If you had not posted the info, I still would not know of him plus I would have missed Art's interview.  So a huge ginormous thank you Etouffee, thank you! ;D

SaucyRossy

This is a really in depth interview, bateman what do you think?

Yes! Seconded and thirded. This one is a pleasure to listen to. So happy to hear that Art is solid and secure with this indy route. He's a happy camper, and that makes us all happier campers.

Viva la blitz!

Agreed. Also, warm up your popple voice, popple girl. Listening to Tom and Art is giving me all kinds of ideas. 24 hours of live popples and friends.

Enjoying it a lot. 2 guys telling radio war stories. Funny thing: Art's first radio gig in Franklin, NJ was where I started myself.

You're welcome!  Art mentioned it--briefly and lowkey--last night during the dynamite Dvorak interview.  I don't know why Art didn't promote it more.  All those Leykis fans fit into the predominately young, male demographic advertisers are always supposedly drooling over.  They sure represent a new listener pool for MitD.  If they think Leykis is cool (they do), and Tom thinks Art is cool (he does), well, there you go.  It's all in the numbers.

I used to listen to Tom way back when he was doing afternoon drive on KFI.  I liked him a lot then; he was funny.   When Art rolled out his business plan for Midnight, I immediately thought of Leykis, and how this thing could really work for Art!

That interview was great promo.  The Leykis fans on his facebook page are going nuts, almost 100% loved it and love Art Bell.  A lot of them had no idea Art was back.  I'm not a Leykis fan, but his fanbase is incredibly loyal, much like Art's.  Almost 2 hours after Art had to leave the interview, Leykis is still promoting how to listen to Art's show.   I think if Art had Leykis on as a guest, as Art alluded to at the end of the interview, Leykis would promote the hell out of that, and bring a lot of new listeners to Art's show.  It's not paranormal, but Art could do a great interview with Tom about the history of radio broadcasting, including their personal histories, the paradigm they're both pioneering, and where they see this going in the future.  It would scare the crap out of iHateArtRadio  :)
Anything to make more folks aware of Art's return is great.  Even with the internet, it's amazing to see how many folks don't really get all the news they may be interested in.  Too much crap about cops in Cincinnati or blood-thirsty, cat-killing dentists.

If Tom's show is generally as good as that interview was I might have ANOTHER show to add to my listening mix. Some one should invent a time travel device just so we can have enough time to listen to all of this amazing content that's being put out there.

Seriously, I know people are generally cynical and not easy to please, but we are in one of the most creative out pours our species has ever experienced in entertainment.

+1. Anyone can do a podcast these days, cameras are so good that you can make a feature art house film for 10 grand, youtube gives musicians an audience. Amazon will publish literally anyone's book. Even the screen writer's chances are getting better now that Amazon is buying scripts. The playing field has never been this level for creative people to get themselves out there. It's extraordinary.

OH, yeah! US economy melts down, grid going down, ART comes in sporadically, "Folks, this is ART BELL and I am on the air with shotgun at the ready.  Have your firearm handy folks?  NOOOOOO?  Shame on you.  But I will be with you as long as I can and I'll have Gerald Celente if the connection holds.  It's a brave new world, ppl, or more aptly, is a whole new world for those brave enough to hold on to it."

Does Tom Leykis archive his shows anywhere?

I suppose. To me it feels like gnats surrounding a street light. Everybody has the same chance of being discovered. Just like the lottery. But with the added feature of very poor grammar.

And now it's time for my Saturday morning post.
Tonight starting at 8:00pm Central time over at http://ksyl.com will be Art Bell: Somewhere in Time. It's the full show when we journey back to June 16, 1995, when Art celebrated his 50th birthday with a plethora of birthday wishes and greetings. It was a night of open lines fun with a twist of birthday sweetness.

http://ksyl.com does have a live stream and can also be found on Tune-in. If you are local to Alexandria, North West Louisiana , they can be found on 970AM.
Also for you folks with a bent for nostalgia, from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm Central is 2 hours of old time radio programming from the time when "Radio was King"

"Theres Magic in the Static"
