O.K.  Time to take a break for the positive before going back to the stupidity that I am contributing to.  Yes, that makes me a moron and a masochist (also a cracker.)

I am not one for phone calls, but I have put together a brief email to send to two local stations to see if one of them would compete with the major one in town (carries Coast, is corporate, and will not be changing, I'm sure.)  Certainly one of the smaller local guys wants a piece of this?

  Only after the 4th call too!  And thats only cause the other 2 were out to lunch and only had promotion directors in the office.

Yes, you should record them.  I'm curious how one of these calls sounds.  I would love to know how you go about approaching something like this.  I would ask if they heard Art was back, TELL them to carry the show, and demand that they pay attention to me.  Probably not the best way to win them over...

Debating whether to contact WNIR or WHLO about this.  Both cover the Akron area, with WNIR extending to Cleveland.

I assume WTAM would be a waste of energy since they already carry c2c and are a big iheart station.

I don't know if it is being shy, necessarily.  Scifi Author makes a living with words.  It is very likely that he feels that he is more persuasive typing them out than speaking them.

I have said before that I do not really "get" people, nor emotions.  I use a bit of a "rolodex" to know what is expected and cold calling a station to ask them to play MITD is a scenario that I have no cards for- no idea of what to expect and it would not sound natural.

I was only half-joking when I said that Kham should record the conversations.  If I heard what was said, found out if it is emotion based or business based I might call.  There really is no "shyness", just a medium that I am more comfortable in and feel that my chances of success would be higher than cold calling...

I do not. But I did experience that effect once when a stalker handed me several pages of nothing but by name (an old chatroom handle, to be precise) that she had written over and over and over. Edge to edge. Front and back.

I emailed WHIO in Dayton today, and they carry Coast, but did not reject the idea, and seemed genuinely interested I let them know Art is returning.  Then again, maybe they were just being polite in not outright rejecting the idea.

If I can make a suggestion it is probably a waste of time contacting stations that carry Coast or are big iHateArtâ,,¢ stations.

I would contact the other stations in that market and let them take over the Coast affiliates.
