It has to be a little concerning when the majority of posts on your latest facebook thread are people who are pissed.  This may be one of the few exceptions to the rule: "there is no such thing as poor publicity."  There was no publicity among those who do not listen to coast and it managed to alienate a number of those who do.

When Dave showed up here and said that he found something he lost a long time ago I wanted to believe.  I wanted to see the show improve and I hoped he meant that he understood that he had to take the show and make it his.

There are two possibilities.  He may have taken the show and made it his by inviting Oats on (an proved that he is incapable of thinking things through and is one of the lowest human beings around.)

The other possibility is that some exec at Pemrat demanded that he have Oats on (thinking it would be good to start a feud for ratings or because he / she has an axe to grind with Art.)  Hell, perhaps Oats was booked if Lisa Lyons applied for a position on Dark Matter and was turned down?  In this scenario Dave proves to be completely spineless and proves that whatever he found is once again lost.  Preferring to take the comfortable route he refuses to take a stand and is willing to stab a man who gave him everything in the back.

There is no scenario where George comes out smelling of anything but excrement.  However, there is still a scenario or two where I feel a little sympathy for the guy having fallen into a pit of human waste rather than digging the pit, filling it himself and wallowing it in for two hours last night.

I caught the first hour of Dave's crapfest with Oates and I heard Dave say they'd be taking calls in the next hour.  I shut my radio off before then, so Dave didn't go to calls, huh.  Hahahah.... the only reason I can think of for the last minute change was the avalanche of calls they must have received, expressing distaste for the backwards boy and Dave Noorie's shameful ploy against Art.  I love it when a Dave Noorie/PremRat plan backfires.

He blew his chance. He could have cancelled Oates in an effort to look like a nice guy who takes stands against dirty pool. He could have bucked the system and saved the day (his image and reputation). He likely filed this stunt under "R", for "regret", today.

So Noory signs a contract with premier that pretty much says he's doing C2C for a million years.

I'm no lawyer, but generally I believe there's always some kind of an out to protect one or both of the parties. So like maybe Premier can't fire Dave as host of C2C, but they can cancel C2C due to poor ratings or something, who knows?

So Art comes along right after that juicy contract is signed and says, Frack you Dave and Premier, I'm coming back.  Premier, who is a huge successful corporation, which proves they really aren't run by morons, realizes they're in deep shit. They realized they signed a mediocre host forever, and God just came back home. For the first time ever, there's actual competition. The Bad News Bears are taking on the Yankees. Premier knows they're going to lose big time.

So what do they do? They can't replace Noory. They can't bring in a hired gun to take out Bell. So, maybe they decide to take their out from the contract. Maybe they decide to scuttle the mothership. Let's bring on Oates. Everybody hates Oates. We're going to lose a shit-ton of listeners.

Hmmm... wondering what's going to happen next.

I hope this Oates incident finally puts to rest the idea that Noory is a nice guy.  He's not a nice guy and he never has been. I've always wondered where people get that nice guy crap from.  He's smarmy, petty, and vindictive.  Even Art said Noory was a nice guy last week.  I'm guessing he's changed his mind now.

It probably has....for the fence-sitters. It assuages the consciences of those of us who have pangs of guilt for lampooning his poor performance. Some of us never wrote an unkind word about any other Coast host or public figure. If we truly felt that Noory was a genuinely good guy, we never would have wrote an unkind word about *him*.
