You know, in my psych classes they taught us that people that begin to chronically abuse drugs or alcohol at a young age, say in the early teens, become emotionally stunted, and remain at the emotional level they were at when they became chronic alcohol and/or drug users. So, how old were you when that happened?

Yup cause the teabaggers want us to be a 3rd world country ..they can be like kings

What McConnell got to make the deal:

Lest we forget that this is the kind of scumbag that our friends on the left here in these discussions want to call "mainstream" or "good" Republicans...

Mitch is 71, no doubt extremely well off, and none too popular with the TPers (or Dems, for that matter, despite his capitulation today).  Maybe he sees the handwriting on the wall -- the certainty of being primaried -- and decided to achieve what personal victory he could, consequences be damned.  He's always struck me as strictly a career guy anyway.

Right now, the GOP looks like a circular firing squad to me.

I've never said I have health issues - obviously your imagination is out of control, again...

I am tempted to put you on ignore but I would miss the hysterical laughs I get from the utter stupidity you post - like the emotionally stunted comment below.

I hope to God you aren't responsible for raising any children.

I went back to school 2-years ago. The asshole teaching the Advanced Algebra class was still wearing tie-dyed t-shirts and Birkenstocks, still crying about Bush and Cheney, and STILL TEACHING ALGEBRA the way they did when I was  in 7th grade, and using obsolete graphing calculators, in a BRAND FUCKING NEW BUILDING!

Yeah, that GED is a bitch.  Give it another 20 years, I'm sure you'll squeak through.

I am never sharp with anyone that has not asked for it, ever. She came blundering in to a debate acting like a drunk, illiterate, bar whore, replete with one of the stupidest comments I have ever seen any idiot post on any discussion forum. When I gave her a taste of her own medicine, predictably, she became even more of an asshole.

She can avoid this by not acting like a brainless pass-around party toy.

So we can deduce that, not only are you a vomitous douchebag who hates the poor, black people and gays, but that you hate women, too.  Excellent.  I'm sure we're only another martini or two from "the Jews control the media" and other such classic national socialist gems!

A finding in a study on the relationship between science literacy and political ideology surprised the Yale professor behind it: Tea party members know more science than non-tea partiers.

Yale law professor Dan Kahan posted on his blog this week that he analyzed the responses of more than 2,000 American adults recruited for another study and found that, on average, people who leaned liberal were more science literate than those who leaned conservative.

However, those who identified as part of the tea party movement were actually better versed in science than those who didn’t, Kahan found. The findings met the conventional threshold of statistical significance, the professor said. [QK I wonder if he left out the distinction between overall or just within conservative ranks, on purpose?]

Kahan wrote that not only did the findings surprise him, they embarrassed him.

“I’ve got to confess, though, I found this result surprising. As I pushed the button to run the analysis on my computer, I fully expected I’d be shown a modest negative correlation between identifying with the Tea Party and science comprehension,” Kahan wrote.

“But then again, I don’t know a single person who identifies with the tea party,” he continued. “All my impressions come from watching cable tv â€" & I don’t watch Fox News very often â€" and reading the ‘paper’ (New York Times daily, plus a variety of politics-focused Internet sites like Huffington Post and POLITICO). I’m a little embarrassed, but mainly, I’m just glad that I no longer hold this particular mistaken view.”

While Kahan cautioned against thinking the results can be used to explain deep ideological fights over climate change and other politically relevant science, and he said the results wouldn’t change his negative views of the tea party, he did say he will no longer make assumptions about the level of knowledge on his opponents’ side.

QK - But, from the content of the discussions herein, we already knew this.

Well, to be fair the D Party's base consists of the people that refused an education, refuse work, and want to be supported for life, the so very competent bureaucrats of America, America haters, and the easily led who have been fooled by the media.

They pull the averages down for the other core part of the D's base - the 'elites'.

The 'elites' are the ones who know how to run our lives better than we do and aren't afraid to tell us.  They include the folks who need to see a bunch of wasteful social programs in order to feel good about themselves.

All are easy pickings for the people who lust after power and tax dollars.

Well, to be fair the PB-R's base consist of a bunch of whiny, greedy old rascists who already had a hand up on life before they entered the work force and are pining for the days of white male hegemony. Oh, and they did it all without anybody's help.  Except Mom and Dad.  And the guys from the frat. And the guys from the K of C or Lion's Club. Or that Zoning Board member who owes them money.
They think they are smarter than everyone else because they pay people a pittance to work for them and instead of looking at themselves in the mirror they look in their ledgers to justify their existence.
They're the folks who need to destroy social programs to feel good about themselves.
The only other way they feel good about themselves is to continually crow about how right they are on endless AM radio programs and dittoheaded forums.  Positive reinforcement for the most negative of traits.
They do a great job scaring people about "us" and "them" to the point where terrified people vote against their own interest, so long as the paternalists promise to protect them.
All easy pickings for people who don't read.

This is the kind of ignorance that all too often afflicts Blue Staters. They live in enclaves, in strips on the coasts and the borders, and completely ignore the experience of those who live in that "flyover country" they love to mock. They like to think to the GOP is rich old "rascists" who have hands up, because it makes them feel better, but they really have no idea how much they insult the heart of what is America and what forms the mass of the GOP.

And the hypocrisy of talking about rich white men running a party. Heh. Have you taken a look at who the crony capitalists are? They're Dems, bubba. All that stuff about rich corporate GOP fat cats is ancient legend.  The corporate types proved they never believed in that capitalism stuff, because the corporate boys are all up in there with the O today. That's where the money is - getting waivers, preferences, deals. The corporate types have all gone Dem to be with Neo. The only thing left in the GOP is small businessmen - although Obama has just about killed them off.

But keep on spouting off about the fat cat Republican thing. It makes me think I'm in Chicago in 1968.

It never ceases to amaze. You pulled this whole preposterous and unfounded disdain "blue staters" have out of your shorts.
Which I'm sure are from 1968.
I lived in (and love) the Queen City for years. In fact if I were still there, John B Smokey would be my Congressman. We share the same alma mater.
Your presumption, the foundation of your retort, is erroneous.  So is your attempt to re-cast the GOP as anything but the party of wealth and privilege. You might as try convincing people the earth is flat and that pig wings taste better than chicken wings.

I honestly believe the only way to resolve this is through a Hot Civil War, or the absolute separation into two distinct countries - but I guarantee you that even if we did divide into two countries, they would still be blaming everyone else but themselves for their problems.

Nevertheless, I want it now more than I ever have in my life. I absolutely abhor even contemplating that people that think and act the way they do are supposed to be thought of as fellow Citizens - we have nothing in common, whatsoever.

You treat me like your enemy, and I will be your enemy.
