Also the entire American character is an indignant rebellous Yankee. When you start telling people what they can and can't say or think, Americans are going to naturally rebel against you. I think that's an excellent analysis. Thought policing will just make people give you the finger here. It's a basic trait of our culture. But mark my words, this movement isn't just confined to the US. If Trump's successful in his presidency, Europe will begin swinging to the right. And that scares me. I know what to expect from the American right. I have no clue what to expect from the European right.

Taking what you said as equal across the board, how do you think the result would have been recieved by Trump and the, shall we say, more militant of his supporters if he hadn't won? Bearing in mind he a)insisted the election was rigged anyway-since no mention of that..odd; b)He would only accept the result if he won.

You think rioting wouldn't have happened in some areas?

Not that it matters- but I suspect that you are correct.  It's easy to say "the right would not have rioted" or even point to past elections (Obama) as proof.  But you did not have the extremely heated campaign with your man of choice screaming that if he does not win, it is only because it is rigged.

This was a whole different cycle that was bound to produce some riots, lots of butthurt and lots of anger no matter who won.  Now you have one side saying that they would have just accepted it quietly while they claim this was their "last chance to save society, their last chance to stop corruption and oppression" in other posts.  Everybody believed that this was their last shot at "making America great again", draining the swamp and taking back their country before it was gone forever just a week ago.  This week?  They would have just accepted the results and said "cest le vie", too bad our country will be fucked to eternity.

Actually, if they honestly believed what they were saying, I would be very disappointed if they just let America go without doing anything other than say "too bad- a real shame.  Oh well, she was a great country but I concede that it is gone and accept that."

But... we will never know.
