I'll say this for John 'B' Wells - he gives good sample.

It's the stuff nightmares are made of!!  I'm FINALLY about to listen to his last show... was gonna do it yesterday but astro's podcast came out and funky didn't have it posted yet so...
yeah I still wanna clarify his statements in regards to Art.

I still can't get the old "santorum" definition out of my head... every time I see him I think about it and with MV's jerkoff avy it's just getting worse.

Yeah, but I have a feeling that this was a "definition" made up just to fuck with ol' "government-as-genital-police" Rick.

Hey Onan, before you comment please drink a quart of something with lithium in it.

I wasn't going to respond... due to Ben's question being rhetorical. So I guess I have to go with moron.

Yep, Noory acts like an excited child at times. And I agree that Wells allows his guest to take over the program at times.

Most often I don't have a problem with that as the guest can make a statement and then back it up with one or more facts or examples. If he in fact has been warned about stepping back too much and is not responding to the wishes of his employer then perhaps he needs to go. But as far as subject matter - I like his programs.

The "cup of tea", "mother ship" and English accent I can do without but it doesn't piss me off. Sometimes he acts like a stoned hippie - pleeeze Wells, don't act "cool". You're an old dude on an overnight radio station listened to by truck drivers and police on break and a few firemen. Those fine people and a bunch of us insomniacs.

Oh, quit whining.

Haven't followed this thread, but listened to Wells' last show.  Does he EVER take calls?  It seems like all shows he does is 4 hours of him and the guest.

Wells hardly ever takes calls even for a guest.
He seems to get too busy talking with the guest and forgets about callers.

This is one interesting point. On one hand you'd have to assume people are still calling. On the other hand does he just forget or purposely try not to take calls?

His friday fill ins don't have the same open line style as others.. he keeps the guest.

It doesn't take that many calls.  He has done entire shows without a single caller.

Yes, it would be nice if he did have at least one segment (30 minutes) with callers or take say two or three calls during each hour. If a guest is on three hours he could have at least nine calls and perhaps a dozen if he devoted the last segment of the program to callers.

astroguy

Do you think anyone complains?  I'd think that since C2C has seemingly always been a call-in show that people would get pissed ...

stevesh

No complaint from me. The callers are always the lamest part of the show, even considering the incompetence of the hosts. If it were up to me, there would never be any callers, or at least the calls would be a lot more carefully screened.

No kidding. It's no coincidence that the shows I tend to enjoy/endure are free of callers. John Batchelor being one example. Callers are generally ill-informed and agenda driven, I don't care if it's C-Span, political talk radio, sports radio, gardening...

Not saying that the callers are particularly enlightening, but I would think they'd get pissed being on hold for two hours and no one getting through.

So glad I wasn't the one to bring that gem to the thread... thanks McPenis...

I can do without the callers on most shows.  Every now and then you get somebody that seems somewhat educated beyond 2nd grade but for the most part, idiots.  If we had somebody like Art hosting it would make more sense but we are currently ill equipped and nobody wants to go unscreened which are some of the best calls.  If you're going to let the idiots in then at least let the psychotic entertaining idiots in as well.

I don't think I can recall Wells ever really interacting with a caller... aren't they always allowed to ask their question and then thats it?

It's telling that open lines used to be a reason to listen in. With the wrong hosts, they're crap.

My favorites were the Antichrist and Area51 lines...

Not to generalize and stereotype...but I will. The ordinary C2C caller strikes me as somebody who has nothing but free time, and imagine them sitting in their kitchen on hold going through boxes of Ritz crackers, staring at the wall while the latest "Hitler's Henchmen" special on The History Channel or Daystar's Fall Sharathon  airs in the background. "Aw, damn..it's 5 minutes of 5am, I'm not gonna get on on! Fuck you, Noory you son of Saladin!"

          Repeat process the next night.

astroguy

There is nothing wrong with Ritz crackers!

Ziznak, agree with your 9/3 post.  Wells should diversify, do different topics, rather than the conspiracy topics each week. He's done different topics before (his 2011 shows, before He won the Sat. slot).

That used to be my school lunch nearly every day - cheese and crackers.  8 Ritz crackers, 8 slices of 2% milkfat extra sharp cheddar cheese.  And a piece of fruit.

My fav was baby swiss!  god I could go through a brick right now
